Former US ambassador to Ukraine, William Taylor, spoke with TV Rain's Ekaterina Kotrikadze about the prospects of the war in Ukraine, the mood among the representatives of the Ukrainian government, and whether Donald Trump could really withdraw the US from NATO.

Interesting interview. Ambassador Taylor seems naive. He says that the US has only one President at a time. Unfortunately, it appears to have more than one government, because recent custom allows the Speaker of the House to act for a minority of the House (a majority of a majority) and to set the agenda for consideration by the House, which is an effective veto on US government policy. Earlier, the President and his adviser Sullivan tried to achieve two conflicting objectives - a secure sovereign Ukraine and a stable non-aggressive Russia. Putin has made Russia unstable in the long run by his autocratic centring of power. The West cannot prevent instability by withholding help for Ukraine. To be blunt, speaking as a friend of the US, the US is forfeiting its position of global leadership, because of an informal custom about House procedure. Even if the US stays in NATO, that does not mean that a Trump presidency would act strongly to defend each and every member of the alliance.

Probably an element of 'diplomatic-speak' here - but yes, would be great to see the US take a more forthright position on Ukrainian victory

9:15: not so hasty with your conclusions mrs. Kotrikadze. Speak for yourself!
People in Europe understand very well that the situation is far from reassuring.
At this moment mr. P. has the upper hand on the battlefield.
And if Democrats lose the election in November 2024: Europe should hope for the best but in fact should prepare in reality for the worst. Whatever mr. P. may think of us Europeans: we are well aware of the risks were facing then.

Everyone talking about ceiding territory is not only stupid. He's deliberately gaslighting.
For Putin it's not about some more land. It's about destroying Ukraine as a sovereign state and bring it under full control of Moscow.
I can't listen anymore to anyone even only discussing of others talking about ceiding.
That means, I really don't like TV Rain reiterating on this topics. That is useless and playing only in the hands of the ones who like the west talking this BS. That's Putin and Trump.
So please, TV Rain, pick up the discussions that really matters. For example, what is Europe doing now to meet the Ukrainian needs for air defense and artillery.

Johnson will never bring a military aid bill to the floor unless he is backed into a corner
I think American has been a deceitful allay of ukraine, they have over the last two years carried on alot rhetoric about supporting ukraine made a lot of promises, but have made little effort to supply them with weapons that could win the war , they could not supply tanks , aircraft or long range missiles, any weapons they did supply where far to late, they seemed to be quite happy for ukraine to be a battering ram for Russia to weaken Russia military, of all the western allies American has betrayed ukraine
