  • Lesson on Histamine Synthesis and Metabolism from the amino acid Histidine. Histamine is a biogenic amine that acts as a local signaling molecule and a neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. Histamine is produced from the essential amino acid histidine in mast cells, basophils, ECL cells and histaminergic neurons. Histamine is important in several processes including anaphylactic (allergic) responses, regulation of gastric secretion, and also acts as a potent vasodilator. Histamine is eventually metabolized by key enzymes including diamine oxidase (histaminase) and histamine N-methyltransferase, and histamine metabolites are eventually secreted in the urine.

Thanks for making a video about histamine that doesn't start right off discussing histamine intolerance.
I get it - we all get it - that too much of this stuff is problematic, but practically every video out there fails to discuss this molecule without viewing it as an evil substance. In a similar fashion, cholesterol gets no love either, even though it too is metabolically essential.

You forget how doctors actively deny the existence of this condition, leaving people scratching their heads when they can’t get any help for their mystery symptoms, which naturopaths prey on.

What's the point of adding the ribosyl? Is it a vehicle for getting rid of the ribosyl? Also, why does the pathway with the histamine N-methyltransferase happen, requiring SAM, if you can get the end product of the acetaldehyde directly from the diamine oxidase? Does N-methyl histamine have any purpose in the body?

Thank you so much! I think this is prolly the answer I'm looking for to dealing with my chronic hives, swelling, and rhinitis. Way more useful than all other videos related to this topic I've watched combined.
There are tons of mysterious, sometimes even conflicting suggestions about treating symptoms based individual opinions or stupid observational studies on the internet. Without an objective molecular-level explanation, most observational studies are just academic trash that do not make any sense, nothing better than a psychic.

thank you very much for the informative video. I have a question. Βy what criteria does the organism choose which metabolic pathway to follow for instamine metabolism?
