  • The GoXLR only has one XLR input, but you can connect additional microphones using the mic-in port, line-in port, and optical port.

      Kevin Muldoon I have a Samson G track Pro and I don’t think my routing is correct. When I’m in game my friends hear an echo as well as background noise from my headset. I know it might be because my mic pics up a lot and it’s very sensitive but I’m not sure if my routing is correct. Could I email you a screen shot?

    • @KevinMuldoon
      @KevinMuldoon  Před 4 lety +1

      That's a condenser microphone, which means that it will pick up a lot of background noise. In your setup, this could cause echos, feedback loops etc.
      That's why I use dynamic microphones when playing games.

  • @roguexdgaming

    Very complex video. Little to overwhelming for what I am looking for. Title is a little misleading lol .. Could add in your title (Advanced Multi Audio Setup)
    I was gifted a brand new GoXlr and have a black yeti mic. I have no clue how to hook it up and route the audio to get it routed properly to work in discord, OBS etc.
    Basically, would love to see a video for a first time setup for new people that dont have an audio engineering experience :'(
    I think this video would've been better made into segmented vidz focusing on the particular mic and the setup one would use base on the type of mic OR... add some time stamps.

    • @KevinMuldoon
      @KevinMuldoon  Před 3 lety

      Unfortunately, the GoXLR is unnecessarily complex. So I tailored my tutorial for that.
      I'm not an audio engineer.
      A regular audio interface is a lot easier to use that the GoXLR. The GoXLR has some cool audio effects. It's an interesting product for streamers, but the software is not user-friendly. Additionally, most people would be better just getting a regular audio interface if they aren't using the effects.

    • @KevinMuldoon
      @KevinMuldoon  Před 3 lety +2

      I'm not sure. I never tested it with any instruments or pedals so I'm not sure what the issue is there. It could be the pedal or something you need to change in the GoXLR settings area.

  • @RareGlue
    @RareGlue Před 3 lety

    I could be wrong with this, but I believe that putting the Blue yeti through the mic-port on the back of the XLR will make the mic lose it's stereo sound feature, since that port doesn't support stereo through my testing, playing music through my phone to it. Using the Line-in port on the GoXLR might seem to do the trick with stereo quality though, but then the ability to use the sound effects goes away (megaphone robot, etc..)
    Then again, I don't own a blue yeti microphone so I might be wrong with this.

      That's a USB microphone, not XLR. So it wasn't really designed to be used with audio interfaces such as the GoXLR.
      What you'd have to do is connect an audio cable from the headphone output on the HyperX quadcast to the audio in port on the GoXLR.

Do you know if it's also possible to do the same with headphones/sound bar. I have a pair of Sennheiser headphones that I want to plug into the headphone jack of the GoXLR, and also plug in a soundbar via the optical jack into the GoXLR, and then be able to switch between the two via the GoXLR software? I'm not sure if that would work or not. I don't have the device to test it (in actually testing another mixer right now that also has effects).

      @TheSakuraGumiLTD Před 3 lety +1

      @@KevinMuldoon the latency isn't even close to being a issue... it's in the same field as a wireless dynamic microphone.... it's not the same as a wireless gaming headset, although that's only a issue over bluetooth, ones with a dedicated receiver don't have that issue... also you often have the compensate latency of the video signal more than anything.
      You're talk 5 milliseconds max latency with a wireless microphone... that would make a difference on the stream... singing would be in a dedicated microphone anyway and mostly it'll be hitting keys and mousing plugins... if there is some sound bleed I might be able to combat it with some gate also... so I'm probably worrying too much lol.
      Thanks for the thought, it's definitely something to think about with everything.
      In computer music latency is a key element in creation.
      It's why if people have the money they prefer hardware over software controllers.
      There's a unrivalled tactile with hardware...
      But again, you start with computer first and add because a computer software has unrivalled production flexibility.
      So the tactile comes later as that last little touch of magic to production.
      But first, of course you need the production and hardware is limited in that field.
      Although they will get better, as it all does... neither world has quite matched each other yet, but the computer is definitely set to... look back over 15 years it's only missing that last tiny bit... and that last tiny bit is about £3000 more per processingunit, so hardly worth it... if something is good enough it can me re mixed and mastered in a big studio later because it'll be financially worth it.

      Why would you connect an audio interface to an audio interface?
      Technically, it is possible though.

      Let me know exactly what you're trying to do and I'll give you my honest opinion 👍
      How many people do you need to chat with?
      What mic are you using?
      Is recording the audio important?
      Will you use effects etc?
      If you can tell me exactly what you're trying to do, I can help you as best as I can.

      That sounds silly to me if I'm honest. You'd be better buying a good audio interface and then buying a separate effects solution.
      It is frustrating that it only has one XLR though. I'm not sure why they did that.

      I don't have the yeti pro myself.
      You would still have to power it the same way you always do.
      The GoXLR can provide phantom power where required.

      I'm not familiar with it, but with usb mics you need to use the headphone out as a mic in. Not exactly great from a quality point of view, but it should work.
