Bass Tone
- Bridge Action: Low (even lower recommended)
- Pickup Selection: Neck
- Pickup Tone: Full
- Finger/Pick Strength: Mid Low to Low ( i played harder)
- Finger/Pick Shape: Sharp
- Other: Played on the neck pickup, i don't hink that's the original way but it sounded similar this way, at least on my bass. Used a rebond technique on the strings, essentially playing with lots of finger movement but with slight touch, caring for the string to clack on the pickup or body of the bass
Amp/Cab Tone
- Gain: 10
- Bass: 7
- Mids: 10
- Treble: 8
- Pedals: No
- Other: Added some chorus
Mixing
- EQ: Boosted at 100 hz, boosted 1k for presence and 3k for highs
- Compression: Mid high amount
- Other: -

There's no better right hand plucking exercises than Iron Maiden's songs
Coincido con vos, pero él hace lo que puede. El que lo toca igual es el del bajo acústico
Indeed.. love playing Run to the Hills..
Unless you suck :(
that is WAY to fast for me!
Exactly marcelo!
@@Stormtrooper990 I use "the flight of Icarus" to warm up, and then I increase speed with other song!
That part under the solo is one of the greatest bass riffs ever
Totally agree! That background's bass licks makes Adrian's guitar solo one of the best that IM ever written!
That's what I always wait for in that song. As in many Maiden songs, the bass makes it!
I didn't realize how nuts it is.
fuck yea
I always wait for that part and it just sends chills down the spine
My smartwatch registered this as a "workout" and told me to "keep going." Seems accurate.
5555555555555555555......i got that part down
Only???
👍
Hahah
Lol
Haha
Steve Harris is the reason why I picked up the bass, but not only because he is a kick ass bass player but because he also wrote some of the greatest rock songs ever written. I haven't actually looked into how much he actually writes on bass if at all, but I've personally written most of my stuff on bass.
Same hear, started playing bass in 1984 only because I heard piece of mind and heard that kick ass sound and I haven't stopped since. He wrote damn near all of the first three then you start getting alot of Adrian Smith and Bruce with an occasional Dave Murray song
This comment makes no sense. You credit him for being a great songwriter but then state you haven't actually looked up whether or not he writes their songs?
@@rorz999Maybe because your reading comprehension sucks, Steve Harris has written the majority of Maiden's songs, what I said, is that I don't know if he actually writes them using the bass or if he uses guitar or keyboard to actually write.
More Steve Harris from this channel, goodie!
The bass Is so powerfull in every song of iron maiden i just love it
Phantom of the opera - Iron Maiden
Guess what? Your wish came true.
This song inspired me to give up bass

It's important to notice that the plucking in this song is quite soft. Going hard on this one will consume your stamina very fast. That's why the action (how high strings are from the bridge) is quite low so you can keep a claking sound, along with high gain it appreas that you're playing really hard. Did my best with the transcription. Let me know if you have any doubts. More info in the description. Song is in D Major but also has some D Minor parts. Overall the harmony is represented on power chords so it can be quite ambiguous to work on.
CoverSolutions... great work!
I play this song now for over 25 years. I think, your cover is so bloody close to the song, as you can only get !
Isn't it how Steve Harris always play? I've had problem appreciating that bass sound, because it's always loud in the mix, while the attack of each notes feel "clacky" and almost weak.
it is how he plays in every song, i think
Podrías tocar Queen the invisible man
How do you avoid copyright? I was thinking about posting covers and I have no clue how to avoid it. Do I have to get permission from someone or do I just have to make a statement saying I don't own the music?
Man this song and this album...
That's what I calling rich bass line!! Love to play and listen this song.
I loved this song when i was 9, still loving it btw
Guitar Hero 3?
OHH HEEELLL YEAAAH
I have learnt so many different things from you my dude, I just wish I was as talented as you and able to learn things by ear and easily but oh well :)
I would love to see Killers or Wrathchild here. Steve Harris is a madlad of a bassist and I'd love to see some more of his stuff here. Great work.
Been playing this song since the mid-80’s. You did a great job
Mate. That was the stuff that legends are made of. Exquisite work my friend.
I loved the live album ! One of my favorite live albums ever thanks ..
Wow your speed is amazing. I had learned some songs from your channel and struggling bad with all of them 😂
Amazing. Clean, beautiful tone. Steve Harris 🤘🏼
I freaking love you man! I subbed like a year ago and best decision I made. I was waiting for another Maiden song! Now I know how to play this precisely. Going to donate in the next stream I can get into. Thanks man!!
Thanks for your contribution, it help a lot, to make the song correctly, Alain from Canada
You’ve got a great sound on this cover…I love the fat kick you give in the low end…it really makes that amazing bass line under the guitar solo stick out! Great cover!👍
Nicely played! Love how you covered the tune :)
Ha! Big Harris fan here and have played everything up to 7th Son and thought I had this one down but now realize I had some of that middle section starting at 3:16 wrong. And of course, what he really did was better than I thought. Thanks for showing that!
Tried playing the song at 0.75 speed and it was still so fast i forgot i had slowed it down by the end of the song. Great tabs, this song will keep me busy for a while 😅
I like that you play all types of music....🤘🤘🤘🤘 love old metal.
Love your covers ❤️❤️
thank u. the doctor just amputated my right hand after playing this.
Amazing work! Thank you!
You know the bass part is hard when he has his arm muscle showing!
Awesome bass cover!!
Thumbs up before hitting Play! So glad to be a patron.
I saw these guys twice on this tour . First they warmed up Judas in the Medowlands . Then they headlined Mid Hudson Civic Center , Checkered Flag and Green Flag opened for them . Magic Times
Awesome work!!!!
Awsome job!!!!! This is the one I'm working towards. I got run to the hills and the trooper to get my stamina up but my left hand cant handle walking around like this yet. Practice practice practice!

Hey man love your videos you always help me out but i am stuck with civil war from guns n roses and i cant find any good tabs or playalongs, do you think youll someday do a playalong for that song ?
Bravissimo ✊👏👏👏👏 tecnica e potenza alla steve.👋
Almost perfect!
Yaaaaay iron maiden. Good job
Saludos compatriota viva la doncella ❤ 🇨🇱
There’s actually a good deal of ghost notes in the song that you have to study the isolated track to get down, but this is the meat and potatoes of the song.🤘🏻
Thank you finally
Been waffling around about getting a Taurus bass. Think I finally made up my mind.
I bought one at a pawn shop years for $150 before I knew about this channel. Best find ever (both the bass and this channel) - kept me entertained for years!)
omg thank you so much
On fire!!!
Brilliant!
Salúdame
Great work! Breakaway by inglorious would be a good one to play too 🤘
I have been a maiden fan for years and had absolutely no idea that the intro to this song was in repeating measures of 6/4 and 4/4 before the scream. I just never thought to count it before haha
Olá sou do Brasil, sou seu fã!!
Australia street porfavor!!
Muy buen video!!
Bout time you did this one
Nice! Can you do I sat by the ocean by QOTSA?
you make this look so easy and casual to play XD
Very impressive
awesome!!!
Tears in heaven! Eric clapton
Nice!!!
Merci!😁
Hi man! I really like your channel, it helped me a lot with 5 minutes alone (you uploaded it 3 years ago!). I have a "nerdy" question, how do you over record on the original track? What programs are you using? Because I'd like to do the same, just to be able to hear myself better and understand if I play something wrong etc
i use cubase as my audio workstation, there's more info in description
@@CoverSolutions thank you, very detailed info! I'll do some research then :D
Ffs…..amazing. It will take me years to learn this one..
This is challenge for me now, and I must learn this :) ... And I will ... After one year... year and half... :)))
Great!
Half a million views and we can't get 666 comments, and not a single one more. Come on, man!
I would love for you to do White Punks on Dope by the Tubes. That solo sections throws me for loops!!!!
Jeez nice
Fazem dois anos desde que eu comecei a tentar tocar essa música, e só agora tá saindo resultados nem tão grandiosos. É tão satisfatório hehehehhee
po, 2 anos pra uma musica e nem ta saindo direito?
Any chance of a cover of either The Lemon Song - Led Zep or Stomp by brothers Johnson
You are quite right using the neck pickup only for this song. Steve Harris uses a Fender P bass and so if you use a jazz and want to cop his tone the neck pickup will get you close. Good cover 🤘
666 the best cover of Iron maiden bass....
Holy wow, you're a máster!!!! 🤘
en la mano derecha usas el dedo 3? el anular? saludos sebastian
Almost like Steve Harris himself was playing. Do The Call of Ktulu.
Day 700000 of asking for call of ktulu.
Not really, we don’t see him lip singing to the song
Nice. What model Bass do you have?
Nada que decir, Steve Harris es una legenda del bajo en el heavy metal por algo, esta canción lo demuestra, muy buena transcripción y sonido como siempre lml.
impressive I speak none a word of spannish but I understude xD
it's true
It will be nice if tou play Europe - Start from the Dark bass tab
Only thing the tab you have is missing is the accents during the verse. The repetitive A (fifth fret, low E string) has percussive accents that help the bassline mimic the palm-muted nature of the guitars.
I didn't think the solo part was that insane
3:15 let's gooo !!!!
Hi, could you try to do a cover of The Ballad Of Hamantha by Jack Stauber? I've been trying to figure out the bassline but can't really wrap my head around it. Even if you won't, I'd recommend giving it a listen. It's really something else. Anyway, long time subscriber, your videos have helped me a lot. Love what you do!
