It’s so funny that Nick keeps insisting that we know nothing about Joey & that the only reason people like him is that he’s hot, when he’s shown more personality than almost any other bachelor? Like you can just tell Nick is upset that he’s so good looking that he wants to make his likability all about that…nothing about Joey’s humor, his empathy, his eye contact, what a good listener he is, how vulnerable he’s willing to be with the women. You don’t have to be a dick to show “personality,” Nick. Joey is everything Nick couldn’t be as the bachelor & it’s honestly so amusing to see how riled up Nick gets about how well Joey is received.

Why is Nick so jealous. Joey is a real person but also he is charming and handled the Maria situation the best he can. He is just real person
The fact that he had that whole conversation about Joey and Maria without acknowledging that what Maria said to him was an exact trigger for his biggest fear in all of this (having someone leave/not reciprocate at the end) is telling. He’s not even trying to give Joey grace or understand him. Clearly Joey could have been more comforting, but I think he was obviously triggered in that moment and I don’t know anyone who can respond with their best capability when triggered. I agree with the opinion that she was being a bit manipulative with Joey in that conversation and I was honestly surprised Nick didn’t have that as his takeaway from that interaction. To me that says he is bent on criticizing and finding fault in Joey, so much so that he missed the bigger problem in that whole scene.
Every single person who meets Joey talks about what a truly nice human he is.
Also I definitely saw him display empathy in that conversation. But he also expressed how it was making him feel to have Maria say those things and that’s a fair response.
@@sadieeliza1989now THIS is a reasonable critique about Nick that goes beyond the tired “he’s jealous” crap. He could’ve seen it from Joey’s side as well. Joey ain’t perfect. I don’t think he used “bachelor language” at all; he told her they had a connection she always downplays. He did say that he couldn’t understand her during the rose ceremony which was confusing bc during the original talk, he said he understood where she was coming from having been in her shoes at once so idk abt what that was about. Apart from that, was he a bit cold? Sure but it could’ve been bc he was of course triggered and tired.

I hate that Nick is acting like that was the exact conversation that Amy and Johnny had. Johnny didn’t say he had any issues with using condoms, just that he preferred to have a second form of contraception. He said that usually it had been girls on birth control however now that’s not the case and he’s OPEN to doing more research and exploring their options together.

There was nothing wrong Joeys response. Maria came into the conversation in a very dramatic way, not just sharing her concern but immediately started off with “I’m not cut out for this so I’m leaving.” She was so manipulative because I think he’s used to getting what she wants. I can totally see why he responded the way he did & he absolutely did kind of affirm her but he def set a boundary by not running after her. She realized he wouldn’t and came back all collected & cool.
This whole time, Joey has been so present with the women, so empathetic & gentle. I just think he could read through the bs.
Think about it…Kelsey shared similar thoughts and concerns but the WAY she did it, his final thoughts were “wow she’s in here for the long haul & I trust her.” Whereas Maria only cared about herself in that moment. And his final thoughts were “I can’t trust her”
I totally see why he probably felt like her behavior was problematic. He even said “listen this is just as hard for me as for you.”
Especially after all the drama she was part of. I can totally see why girls had problems with her!

Nick misrepresented Joey so badly. It pissed me off. Joey didn't use Bachelor language in his conversation with Maria. He spoke to her like they've had other discussions about their relationship. He said she always discredits what they have.
So confused by his take on Joey’s conversation. Joey did show empathy in that conversation! He didn’t come off as annoyed, but truly disappointed that Maria might leave.

It’s so obvious that Jess is used to being the hot girl that guys always go for on looks: unpopular opinion, but as iconic as her speech was, I think she was throwing a temper tantrum about getting rejected, and wanted him to know just what he was missing on the looks that normally give her an upper hand with guys.

Lmao can we just for one moment realize that Joey and Maria are human beings and are valid in what they felt. I think calling it a "power play or move" by Maria negates the fact that hey, maybe her emotions just got to the best of her and she was spiraling. I think she had to come to a moment of understanding that her emotions did get to the best of her. For Joey, I think he seemed overwhelmed and tried to handle it or assure her the best way he could. I think the contestants obviously know what they signed up for but it seems like once you're actually in it, it can get to the best of you.
As for who can become the bachelorette, I think all the girls that are in the top would be great but I do feel like we need to see the show navigate differently than what America would be used to seeing...

Just a tip for true luxury fashion. The most expensive items offered by these luxury fashion houses do not actually have external labels. It is the least expensive items offered by luxury brands that have the logos all over. They are still expensive but they are the cheapest things offered by the brands. While I get the point about using Kyle to promote Mauricio’s real estate show, she was on season 1 of the show occasionally
I love Joey, but I do see a bit of a people pleaser in him that is often begging for a break. He is a whole mature man, but he always does what he’s expected to do and I think that doesn’t let him assert himself the way he wants to sometimes. That’s the dichotomy he keeps dealing with - the suffering he talks about that none of us are taking time to think about as an audience. Nick is calling that out.
The reaction with Maria was the first time we saw him just express an emotion that can be perceived negatively outside of yourself. He’s tired of having to magnify this do-gooder, and when Maria voiced expectations that are already at the forefront of Joeys worry, out loud, he snapped. It’s too many expectations.
I’m not saying Joey isn’t genuine. The difference between him and other bachelors is that he isn’t as two-faced and has a little bit more self control to pull off this kind of restraint. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t think mean things every now and then that we would be outraged to hear. Human.
Joey goes through life trying to perfectly meet everyone’s expectations of him being this mature and sweet guy. Only problem is, he bottles his frustrations to never seem like the bad guy, and the bachelor is forcing him to bring this out because the entire show is beyond the level of socialization that happens in real life. He has mastered putting his feelings down to not affect someone else, to the point that on this show, there are so many women to assuage, he’s snapping to the other extreme.
He’s human, and perfectly capable of being selfish. For some, being seen in this “amazing man” light, in itself is selfish, even if it seems so selfless to us women who are at the receiving end of the attention.
Hot take, but Nick is one of the best podcast hosts for reality television that I’ve ever seen. He is so incredibly perceptive and somehow doesn’t fear being hated on for hard truths 😂
That said, I do think Joey kinda irks him, and I hear what ppl say about jealousy and blah blah but honestly, I think he just sees something and is frustrated that nobody sees that it’s a little bit of a front, as caring as Joey is.
For anyone that doesn’t believe the charity comment, joey’s own family noticed this - which is VERY telling. We know how it looks when a person we’re close to changes their personality for someone.
I’ve seen way more chemistry between Joey and some of the lesser contestants this season than I EVER saw with Charity. They kissed to avoid talking tbh.
In reality, he just wants Joey to be real with himself so everyone else can see deeper into him too. He really doesn’t have to be this perfect man all the time, it’s human to snap.

Maria was threatening to leave! That triggered Joey and reminded him of the reality of the situation. And it looked like she was manipulating him. That would be frustrating.
She wanted reassurance and he didnt give her that so i wished she understood that he wasnt into her that much,and actually saved herself and left.

I actually agree with Nick in that Joey didn't empathize with Maria in the way she needed. Being emotional is valid and Maria being scared and feeling insecure isn't a crime. She's allowed to feel what she feels and vocalize that, I don't think it was a "power move" by any means. Maria would be a great bachelorette, Daisy is nice but we've had like 6 Daisies as bachelorettes, we need someone outspoken and spunky like Maria.

Nick your wrong! The reason why Joey is so loved is because of how authentic and genuine he is. Showing emotion and expressing the fact that he’s afraid of being rejected is him being vulnerable. Maria triggered that, the girls are exactly spot on, she was expecting him to chase her. He was shocked that she would even consider leaving because he thought they had a good connection. Sure, he appeared agitated -which I know you reasonably acknowledged as him possibly having a bad day - bc he’s human, but beyond that, he didn’t really use “you should b grateful you’re here Maria, you’re top 4,” language. If you’re saying he implied it, I mean, what else was he supposed to say? He said they had a great connection. What else? She put him in a tough position and I agree w the guest that Maria absolutely expected him to chase after her or bend over backwards to validate her. Today was the last day I listening to this. Since Amanda left it just got a different vibe and not that great. But till today I tried to give it a chance and now I can’t stand the fact this guy.
