"Never get on a motorcycle when you are late"
Needs to be a t-shirt.
Spot on😊
That is kind of the reason why I would chose to get on the motorcycle...just saying...splitting traffic yo. 🤠
Had allways motorbikes, was most of the time late.
Historical as always. I really thought that UPS truck was going to try to pass the Cayman!
I drove a 911 GT3 RS and a Cayman GT4 RS back to back at Dominion raceway in Thornburg, VA, and while the 911 feels bigger all around, the GT4 feels bigger in the seat but smaller all around. It's hard to describe, but the Cayman was more comfortable than the 911. It wasn't quite as fast around the track as the 911, but the 911 had rear wheel steering and a bit more herspers, but the Cayman "felt" better driving around the track. Both are fantastic cars!
I have to say this was one of my favorite episodes because you guys are so close as friends. Just fantastic! Cheers Jay!
Any guest: "And here's this cool performance feature that does this unique thing"
Jay: "And that reminds me of a 1955 Ford Fairlane because you could just turn the wheel and it would change the direction of the front wheels"
"This new long tail McLaren is smooth and relaxing to drive." I forget, could he ever 'drive' any of the cars he owns? My 84 year old neighbor who loves her little doggie could match his enthusiasm behind the wheel of these cars I've seen him in over the past year.
The stories are what makes his car videos great.
But point taken 🤣🤣
@@davida.737 Jay doesn't need to drive the cars he owns. His guests bring great cars over and he drives theirs. What a great gig..
@@davida.737do you ever listen to him speak? He definitely “drives” his cars.
For one, most of the cars he drives on the show do not belong to him, or they’re antiques and not meant to be driven too harshly.
But he talks about his own cars, how he daily drives some of his super cars, etc. And one of his best stories is how he had his McClaren at a show, and these rough looking biker type guys were staring at it and asking him about it. One even asked to go for a ride, and Jay obliged. Jay says he took the guy through a tunnel, absolutely nailed it and got it to like 120 like it was nothing, and then they got pulled over by a cop. As Jay tells it, he’s sweating bullets as the cop walks up, ready to be in trouble. Then the biker looking guy pulls out his badge and tells the patrol officer “it’s all good son, I’m off duty detective so and so…” Turns out the rough looking dude was a cop with some pull, and the patrol officer that pulled them over let them go despite going twice the limit. 😂. So Jay definitely “drives.” He just doesn’t get crazy with experimental vehicles or those that are not his own.
His show. Don’t watch.
As much as I have loved 911's over the decades, when the Boxter came along I knew Porsche was evolving in the right direction. They're adding the Cayman to the Boxter platform just moved this car right to the top shelf, in my opinion. Intelligent engineering is such a pleasure to see here. :)
As a previous owner of GT4, these cars are awesome. But you do need to acknowledge that on a new 992 GT3 it's got a way more sophisticated suspension than this car. Front wishbone setup, rear A-arm multilink, and rear axle steering. As good as a GT4RS is, it still can't keep up at the 'ring with a 992 GT3.
@@993mike both amazing cars, but I find the ring times to be about the least important thing I can think of for a car that is primarily going to be a road car - at least for me! This definitely seems like the sweet spot in the Porsche lineup.
Thanks again Jay, great show. Are you guys trying to make us Brits and Aussies feel at home? I definitely heard boot and bonnet used more than once. You’re getting it right!
I loved the part when Jay was gently reminded about the "break in period"... amazing!
Awesome Shows!
Thank You Jay Leno!👍🏻
I love this show! Man! I knew Jay was crazy about cars, and grew up watching him. But this is my
Favorite part about Jay. He built a great collection and respected every car and I would love to see his garage. This is the Jay I kinda knew about, but I love this.
Great episode. Spike and Jay together are an awesome combo. And that car is perfectly speced.
I love that! " never get on a motorcycle when your running late" words of wisdom! Ill keep that in mind!❤
Porsche Cayman any year is my favorite.
that sound is marvelous!! this was one of my favs, just laughing all the time while hearing a Porsche roar
The cayman is my favorite, pure driving fun.
If I was in the market for a Porsche, this would be the one. Very good looking and mid engine. Nice spec.
That is a great car Jay thank Spike for bringing it for the show.
The Porsche was sweet! Thank you for sharing!
💯👍
How nice of Jay to call Spike and Jerry his Porsche guys considering Jay was the one that convinced both of them to buy their first Porsches. Jay owns most of the best Porsches ever made, including the 918 Spyder and Carrara GT. I don’t think he actually needs anyone to give him advice about that brand lol.
Jay: The average person can't do what this car is capable of.
UPS Driver: Let's goooo grandpa!
“Special Wishes” sounds like a code for something extra when getting a massage
I just love those mountains in the shots, just beautiful. Wish I had those for my driving shots.
"Respect the break-in period." That reminds me of a time when I was driving my buddy's new car to South Carolina with him. He got so pissed at me for not avoiding every pothole!
Hi Jay. You probably won’t see this comment, but if you do, your episodes with the off the street car (the ones you spot on the street and invite to your show) are really fun to watch. Hoping to see you do those again. Thanks.
I’ve been waiting for this one, great to see Jay and Spike. Plan Z GT4RS looks awesome.
Thank you Mr. Leno for another amazing car review🙏🏽
Never heard of him before, never listened to his show, but that pickleball comment instantly turned me into a fan.
I have a '14 Cayman S and the only problem with it is that I don't think I will be able to ever find another car quite as good.
Great video!
Cayman’s are seriously underrated
I found my 2014 Cayman S in October. I love this car!!! The sound is amazing.
Likewise for our 981 Boxster GTS, it’s just a perfect car!
Cayman is the gem
Gt4rs
Wow. Enjoyed this one. I think I might have seen this RS when I was servicing my 718 spyder at Clearwater.
Great episode, fantastic to see spike on there, I would hang onto this spike. This car is the right size for a Porsche
Great car. No idea how they didn’t realize front axle lift was up the whole time.
It automatically goes down at around 30mph so I doubt it was up the entire time
@marklyons6449 He was talking about in Jay's showroom while talking about the car... would have looked a lot better with FAL down.
It looks great either way, whether up or down.
And I hate that
It goes down automatically once you go faster
Jay could do over a year's worth of Videos with just the Vehicles in his collection.
I like the fact that people like Jay Leno exist because I love vehicles and I get to learn about types and a test drive on vehicles that I would not otherwise.
Love the extended drive.
Now, I just need to be rich and famous with a co-owner to get into one. I was excited that this was around $140k, but I don't think I could ever find one at that price.
Had the chance to go for some hot laps in the gt4rs clubsport with professional racecar driver Kay Van Berlo, around Barber Motorsports Park. HOLY F*** these cars are absolutely insane fast. Words can not describe the sensation these cars give you when they are driven at the limit. Jay should go for a ride💪💪
Barber motorsports park is great. Do you live in the Ham?
I also had the chance to ride with Kay at barber! Wont ever forget that feeling
@@13ironmike in a gt4rs?
I bought one. I love it. Prefer it to most 911 GT3 models. The cabin does get hot if you don't put air con on. The sound of the engine when it gets to 9000rpm is spine tingling.
Hey! How are you using your GT4 RS? Are you driving it on the street, or just tracking it? I have a 718 GTS 4.0. It’s magical. But I possibly have a chance of getting a GT4 RS with no markup. I question if I should do it because I drive 75% daily and 25% track. The GTS does that well, but the GT4 RS is banana. But I wonder if the GTS is better suited for what I do
That is a beast! Just beautiful
“….and you don’t want to do that… too often”.
Classic. 😎
Spikes car radio fan here! "Gimme da money" (Zuckerman voice)
What a fantastic bit of kit. Wish I could afford one.
Built for the Road, thanks Jay. 😎👍😎
I enjoy Jay, cause he is humble with an old school class.
This guy is awesome. Great sense of humor.
Love the comment about pickle ball! “We don’t even talk about pickle ball. It’s not even a sport, it’s a cruise ship game”
What a great guest!
There is no break in for the RS cars from Porsche. They actually run in the engines before they ever get placed in the car. I confirmed this with
Porsche when I picked up my GT4 RS. Great episode, gentlemen! Thank you!
the manual would disagree with you, but do what you like.
@@tloderyup lol and tell that to the dealer when he voided the warranty lol😅
lol low key flex (but that's social for ya)
Jay amazing show and amazing cars, thank you for a great times.. Try iced coffee😂
I can hardly Wait!
"You know, oil is a hot liquid." I truly LOL'd!
After owning a dc2 Integra gsr with a fuel cut off of 9300, I've been addicted to na high reving cars. An absolute blast to drive. 718 gt4 is near too of the lists of cars I'd love to own
Had a 16 Boxster Spyder and multiple air cooled 911s. I always thought the boxster/cayman was the wife’s Porsche. After having the Spyder I’m hooked on them. Cant imagine owning a 4RS or a Spyder RS. Must be a blast. Thanks for the show.
I hear you. I’ve got a 981 Spyder as well and if the new Spyder RS came with a manual transmission, I’d consider selling the 981 and getting the RS. For now will not get rid of my 981, it’s just too good of a car!
I've owned a 981 Spyder since 2016. Nowadays I have a GT4 RS as well. The way the 981 Spyder howls, bangs and pops is just from another world. The 4RS's exhaust note is just a hollow shadow to it. But of course the engine screams in the 4RS like nothing else. Very different cars but both the best ones Porsche has produced in last 20 years - or more.
Manual Spyder is the ticket
GREAT episode! My boy Spike done good
awesome car, one of my favorite modern sports cars, really a track weapon.
Love your shows
What a spec just marvelous !!
Great video. thanks Jay.
"Our friend from New York" is a great nickname.
surprised Jay didn't edit out the 4:42 --- "and I got the 2017 Porsche (Ford) GT..." - and I actually expected to see a Porsche on film, lol - Got ME!
Iced coffee J it's good seeing a couple of guys from Massachusetts doing well in California I actually went to school with Spike
Very interesting! Nice looking and fun!
Beautiful spec!!!
That GT4 sounds incredible
The sound alone!!!!
Oh my = that sounds amazing 😻= it’s beautiful a work of art
Mr. Leno, you just attained god-like status to me. I have only ever had one cup of coffee, I thought I was alone on this earth.
Me too, and I drive a blue 911!
Same, coffee and tea are gross I don't understand how people enjoy it
Caymans are growing on me so much. Thinking about getting a 987 or 981 in the near future
Just picked up a 2017 Cayman S.......best car I've ever owned!
@13:11 is one of the coolest moments ever.
@20:42 also what a legendary line.
Great company. Love, Dennis.
Still the best bang for the buck. Unreal performance.
No coffee ! Wow and ur Italian lol I can’t resist espresso. Great episode as always.
I was told by my Porsche dealer that there was no “break in” period with a high performance car.
Yes there is,it's around 1000k to properly run is
+1 .. Silver alloys oh yeah, a tasteful GT4 RS build. .. That's what were taking about !!
What a beautiful car.
It sounds glorious!
A compelling Cayman, great color. Spike is a good guest. The price, in case you were wondering, is somewhat north of $150K, depending on the enhancements.
Jay, ever had a 1994 or 5 CB1000? The torque is breathtaking, fastest production bike 0-60 for 10 years. Nobody could touch it until finally BMW got by a 10nth or two . My favorite bike that I have ever owned.
That thing sounds amazing!
Great guest!
I’d love a Dakar in Newzealand. So many back roads!
Oslo Blue FTW! God I want one 💯🚀
Great Show Again
Holy crap!!! My favorite has always been the GT2RS until maybe now!!!?!?!?
Beautiful car for the fortunate few.
I'll just have to be content with my Hyundai Elantra.
Jay always looks like he's trying to see over the hood when driving 😂
Jay is definitely old school with the analysis of letting the car warm up first before you pull off.
Considering the breadth of what he drives, it's a good rule of thumb.
I'm 30, and I don't understand what the rush is with letting a modern car warm up even if it doesn't have a carburetor .😅
Yeah, don’t. With EFI & direct port injection, the cold tolerances are just allowing more blowby. In earlier motors (10 yrs ago) there was cylinder washing from richer mixture. Start it, put it in gear, get going. Keep it under 4k , modest changes in throttle until the needles move; under 6k until they’re centered. Heat the metal and fluids in motion, together. Then drive it like you stole it.
It probably isn't necessary in modern vehicles, but it just feels 'wrong' not to warm them up. I don't put one in gear til the temperature needle moves, and I give it very little throttle til it's at operating temperature. It might not help, but I don't think it could possibly hurt and it makes me feel better.
It's good for first building up the mystery and anticipation of that first deep pull on the engine.
What a beautiful spec car
Buddy of mine has one of these and he loves it. When specking his car, he did order the Weissach package but could not get himself to spring for the magnesium wheels-$17,000!
Wow, I never thought about the fact that cars are getting so advanced that it would be silly to buy more car than the individual could handle and truly enjoy.
Love the colors
Jay leno the man the myth the legend
I love Jay Leno and his down-to-earth attitude that he has even when he's in a car that costs a million. By the way, Americans have the same problem with "ch", for example as in Weissach, as German speakers have with "th". 😂
All Numbers Should Be Treated Equally, thanks, Jay, I really needed to hear that. LOL
Spike: “Respect the break in period.”
Jay: “What break in period?” Respectfully ignores the break in period.
Nice description of how wired it is. I bet it matches the performance Man
I miss the pandemic versions with just Jay and HIS cars.
I guess I am out of touch. I never heard of this Spike guy before and commenters are saying he is a celebrity?
Same!
@ccrider8483 I only know him from Spikes car radio podcast but I believe he was also a former talk show host and is still a comedy writer
I agree, it was like he was just talking to you in his little garage 😊
Oh give it a couple of weeks
Sweet Car!
🏆Jay Leno🏆🍀King of Cars 😎✌️
Sold my 911 for a GT4.... My God what a car and the RS takes it further.
There's a company called GOLD LEAF lightweight performance who just came out with an RS style airbox and intake for the GT4.
The sound is insane! czcams.com/video/Xccyhw2xpFU/video.html
Too broke to keep a 911 😅
@@ormand3000Pathetic.
Love this spec
