Ahh, the stock market. In high school we had to "Play the market" in Civics class. Our teacher was awesome and actually taught things we'd use. He had us all "buy" shares in companies, I think we got five shares, at that days price. Then a month later we looked at how much we lost/gained.
It was kind of sad how many ignored his advice NOT to buy with your heart. Many just went "Yeah, I use their stuff, I'll go with them." Only to lose at the end.
I managed to get an A though. I remembered seeing Lockheed Martin was up for a big contract and took a chance. They got the contract so I had one of the highest returns in the class. But one dude put all his shares in one company and made BANK. Even our teacher was mad that it was just pretend because this kid would have made thousands off like five shares over a month.

It was obvious that there was a bubble. It was also obvious that computers and the internet were going to be a huge, culture-altering part of the future, which would mean that at least some of those tech companies were going to carry their value into the future. What was not really obvious is which of those companies were part of the bubble and which were part of the future. The metaverse would be a lot more impressive if it wasn't just bad at everything compared to it's VR competitors.
The avatars look bad, they claimed they had added legs when they hadn't(and floating torsos just looks weird), the voice quality isn't the best, and the desync is jaring(people teleport around and do weird stuff because it doesn't know where they should be or what they're doing properly).
It's not impossible to fix this sort of stuff, but given the spending and fairly major issues I don't think they're gonna lead VR chat any time soon, of course facebook being ubiquitous and owning oculous I think they might be able to force their way in with money and brand recognition, but I think that'll only hurt them long term given their current technological issues.

Tesla is such a weird company. Making cars that are CONSTANTLY being recalled in huge numbers and are now being outperformed by other EVs (and the cybertrucks are also a disaster and also all got recalled), but still makes money because it is a tech company whose tech fails all the time (hardware and software) is odd. And if their market value dips, Elon just announces something new, praises it with is second twitter account, people get excited, and then comes out with something far inferior to what was promised. I get that he is not the brain in Tesla building the stuff, and there are real world limitations to things based on where we are and when your boss demands a new product and what he wants it fit inside, but also... he doesn't seem to listen to his engineers or anyone else advising him either. Like "you will need a different launch pad for that rocked." Or even the conventional " you should definitely have safety lines on the floor and beeping forklifts and such so people don't die, even though you don't like the color or sound."

The Metaverse idea may just be too far ahead of its time. The world isn't ready for it yet because the infrastructure isn't there yet and VR/AR are still niche'. It won't take off until there's been a huge advancement in the glasses. Maybe in 10 years from now VR/AR glasses will be the size of a set of reading glasses. If Metaverse ever takes off, it will be when we get to that point. Glasses need to be small and cheap. Zuckerberg is building the partnerships and software infrastructure now so it should be in a very good state by the time the hardware catches up. It's just a question of if Zuckerberg and his partners will still be invested so heavily when the hardware is finally ready. Metaverse may collapse before then.

The amount may vary on how much you are willing to put in and/or afford to lose. I figure .5 to 1% of what you have, just in case it does bottom out. Then it doesn't financially brake you and put you in the poor house.
