    There are 27,000 universities in the world. This year Leeds University is ranked at 86 the QS international tables which brings it within the top one third of one percent of world universities.. It is of course a Russell group university. The top 100 employers in the UK (ie The High Flyers' report which is viewable online) ) publish an annual ranking of the 20 universities whose graduates they favour most. In the real world this counts for quite a lot more than the often baffling and sometimes downright bizarre national rankings that appear in publications like the Times and the Guardian newspapers (Lancaster and Loughborough universities were consistently placed as top ten universities in the Times national rankings???!!! You have got to be kidding!!!).
    For 2022 the High Flyers' list places Leeds at number 5 out of 120 UK universities for the employment appeal of its graduates. Cambridge is ranked at number 7 and Oxford is ranked at number 10.
    As the biggest centre outside London for banking and legal services Leeds is the wealthiest city in the north of England with upmarket shops, restaurants and cafes. The university has a very attractive and safe campus 10 minutes walk from the busy city centre with its attractive blend of Victorian and Neo Classical as well as glass and steel commercial buildings. In and around the campus itself there is some lovely architecture and a buzzing social scene.
    Of the UK's 120 universities Leeds falls consistently within the top three for the number of applicants. With an impressive international standing for the quality of its research and a first rate social scene Leeds will always be a serious choice for a great many academically gifted undergraduates and postgraduates. It is the 51st most international university in the world.

    hi, im thinking of firming Leeds but I have a few questions so please bare with aha:
    1. how diverse is it in terms of black people? and what's the acs like?
    2. which residence do most medics/dentists stay at?
    thank you:)

    • @lolade840
      @lolade840  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Marie! Thanks for commenting!
      1. Probs not what you want to hear but not that many black people (especially in comparison to unis in the Midlands and London) - it's about 4% of the student body equality.leeds.ac.uk/wp-content/uploads/sites/64/2018/01/rptEthnicityUniv.pdf.
      2. I went in first year but not after. It was good though, they put on a lot of events especially in Black History Month. They sometimes merge with Beckett ACS and do events together, and there are a lot more black people at Beckett.
      3. I did accounting so I'm honestly not sure sorry! But I think generally, there's no accommodations that are just from one degree subject - usually people are mixed.
      Hope this helped :)

    Quick question- so if it is catered does that mean that you don’t necessarily have to bring much food because they also provide some of the meals

    • @lolade840
      @lolade840  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey, so it depends on which accommodations - some are fully catered so provide breakfast, lunch and dinner (I believe Devonshire Hall has this option) and others (like the ones on campus) give you credit to spend in the refectory, but the money doesn't amount to 3 meals a day, so technically it's only partly catered so you would buy some food. But yes - if you are catered you will buy less food (from the supermarket) that if you were self-catered (where you cook all your meals) - hope that makes sense, thanks for watching :)

    • @lolade840
      @lolade840  Před 3 lety +1

      It really depends on how much you spend on food. For me, it wasn't worth it especially because catered doesn't actually cover every single meal (if you're using the refectory) but if you spend loads on food, then catering may be the better option for you, hope this helps!

    • @ddppo8065
      @ddppo8065 Před 3 lety

      I live in a catered accommodation, my rent is 175/week and the room super small. You get a meal card for the refectory and you have 12,5£ every week day and 6,90£ on weekends to spend. If you don’t use up the whole amount you lose the money. However, food there is super overpriced and you still need to pay for it when the refectory closes during winter/spring break. I think I’d choose to go self catered and go to refectory to buy meals anytime I don’t feel like cooking x

      I tried to find the form online but I think it's locked only to those who have an offer as you have to type in your application number or something like that, but from what I can remember, you put one accommodation and then your priorities so if you don't get your preferred one, the match you with the accommodation that's closest to your list of priorities (in theory).
