Is Leeds anyone else first choice?đđŒââïžxx
Yes! Already firmed and applied for accommodation đ
Yeah! Not applied for accommodation yet though đŹ
Yesss, applied for my accommodation!!
Lily Mae cool! What did you apply for?
P. Advani I applied for philosophy at Henry price accommodation x
"That Leeds onto the next question". Love that pun.
Also this is very interesting, thanks for making it.
hahaha I didn't think about that! & you're welcome x
This literally could not have been uploaded at a more perfect time.
literally the most helpful video about uni I've ever watched, this should be advertised so that every future fresher can see it ;)))
awh thanks so much, I appreciate that! x
yesss
this was so helpful!! when i saw the time stamp i was like,, iâll just watch it in chunks, but i ended up watching it all in one go and then getting motivated to actually finish my personal statement !!!
Hi, please can you do one for uni in general, summary of year 1 or what you wish you knew before starting first year?đ€
yes I can definitely do this at some point! x
this was so helpful as a lot of us canât make it to open days so thank you so much for the candid advice đ
i've just been on my year abroad and ill be going into my final year at leeds in september!! agree with everything you've said here, I can't wait to go back! AND TEMPLE DONUTS!!! X
This is exactly what I neededâ„ïž I'm (hopefully) going to Leeds in September and was having such a stress trying to decide accomodation and you've helped so much think Montague Burton might be the place for me x
this is one of the most helpful leeds videos i've seen thanks so much xx
Current masters student at Leeds been here four years and really reminiscing watching this video!! Time flies đ Agree with everything said here!â„ïž
Currently a home PhD student at Leeds, almost going into my 3rd year (my 2nd year was in lockdown..so not much experience). However, Leeds uni is amazing. The library's, Brotherton, Laidlaw and Edward Boyle are incredible. You have many areas to study, whether in groups or by yourself. Everything is within walking distance! You have bookstores, cafes right across the university not to mention tons of food places! It really is a diverse, student city. The mall is 10 mins walk, you have a cinema there too. Stores usually close at 8pm which is fantastic. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask:)
I think my first choice will be Leeds next summer so this video has really helped me solidify my choice and itâs made me so excited !!!đ€Ș thank you for this video đxx
Iâm planning to go next year to Leeds and I most say that this video is on point. You fully covered all the points Iâm interested inâŁïžthank you so much , btw Iâve applied for Business & Modern languages
this is just what I needed, thank you!!
Thank you for this and for making it well rounded! X
Watching this makes me want to cry because I miss Leeds so much! I used to be an international student at UoL and did an internship in Leeds but eventually couldnât stay longer since my student visa expired. Although I lived there for only one and a half years I feel attached to it more than any other city. Everything you mentioned reminds me of my days spent in Leeds especially the easy access to both pubs&clubs and nature. Definitely gonna keep working on getting back there.
This is exactly how I feel...
This is such an amazing video thank you so much! I am so excited to be in Leeds in just over a month đ
This is so helpful and true!! Iâm a second year student at uni of Leeds and agree with everything youâve said. Itâs so important to make an effort and meet new people and to not get too âcomfortableâ in your flat in the first few weeks bc it might stop you from trying to meet new people! And societies are such a great way of making friends!! I do dance (which Iâd never done before so no pressure) and itâs SUCH a good way to have a group of people separate from your course/halls.
I did a video in September about freshers week advice and also have lots of vlogs and videos about it if anyoneâs thinking of going!! xx
Hi, sorry itâs so late but Iâm thinking of putting Leeds as my firm option and Iâm a dancer so Iâm interested in joining the dance society, how did you find the dance society, I think from my research that thereâs multiple different societies but they can be abit confusing xx
@@alexreidy2895 hey! yeah there's looooaaads of dance societies at leeds depending on what kindof dance you do!! I do ballroom&latin (and have a vlog on my channel from one of our competitions if you want to see that) but they all seem to be super welcoming and theres defo something for everyone xx
@@amandamakesstuff1383 thank you, Iâll definitely watch it, Iâm more of a ballet contemporary and jazz dancer but ballroom has been something I have loved and always tried to get into, is there classes for beginners? Iâve danced all my life really but never ballroom xx
@@alexreidy2895 yeah there's lots of different dance societies!! I haven't tried any myself but i know they do beginner classes xx
I bought yu a kabab in leeds
Yes I agree with what you said about making friends! I was terrified about this because I commuted, but I found my friendship group eventually đ
Hey Lydia! I LOVED this video. It was super informative and actually has made me hyped for uni life! Thanks so much (and lol I watched the whole video đ âșïž) and have a good rest of the week đđđđđđđđđđđđđ
thank you so much! x
Love the consistency đ
A detailed one about the ecosystem of University of Leeds, it's awesome!!
Iâm so excited to hopefully start at Leeds in September and this honestly just made me more excited!!
what course are you planning to study! iâve got an offer for midwifery xx
Iâm going in September too!
Thank you for this video. I am currently watching now - so useful x
I'm glad!! x
this was so useful! Iâve been thinking about universities recently as itâs dawned on me that Iâll be applying this autumnđ so itâs been helpful to get such a good insight (especially as open days are off the cards until September probablyđ€·đŸââïž) x
i'm glad! xx
This is making me love the sound of Leeds
A good society for any students in Leeds is Leeds Student Television!! I joined this year and absolutely love it
Watched the whole video it was so useful. I'm currently in year 11 and hated school with an absolute passion but now due to covid 19 I wanna go back and seriously thinking about going to university so now looking for information about different unis and see if it is worth the money and this is the most useful and informative video I have found about a university so far X love your videos
so glad it helped! & thanks for watching the whole thing! x
my first choice is Leeds and this vid helps so much!! thank you!! love all your uni content and my dad is from nottingham!
yay you're welcome! x
Thank you for all the tips! I loved your video đ€
I watched the whole thing and omg I am so hyped to start in September !!
yay I'm so glad! x
Sophie Marshall what subject are you taking, and what accommodation? đ
I love it so much! Please do study with me and day in the life!!đ»
Those Uni q&a videos are so helpful! I honestly wish more people did themđ thank youuu
Thank you so much! I managed to get my final approval. I was nervous I wonât be admitted but I was successful chosen. I am from london and I have never been up north in my life so this will be so exciting. I canât wait for September đ€thank you so much
just bingeing your leeds videos! today I got an offer to study economics and Leeds is my top choice, i'm so happy!
What accom you thinking of ? X
I am so inspired by you.
You are so so so inspiring
Thank you so much for this!! Currently in year 12 and have my heart set on going to Leeds to study sport science, so it was great to get a student perspective especially when all the open days have been cancelled (luckily I went last year) but thank you Lydia!! xxx
KT xoxo Iâm in year 13 and I have firmed leeds to do sports science. Think I am going to defer a year tho and start next September! Might see you there x
In my second year at Leeds :) Totally love and relate to your perspective here! đ
are there any clubs that play like rnb or american rap stuff x
this is SO helpful!! thank you
Hi! Thank you for this video. It is extremely helpful :) I am an international student whoâs planning to study in Leeds later on this year, and your video had some advice that I really needed. Thank you Lydia xx
What are you planning on studying?
Hi!! Did you end up going to Leeds?
@@emilyjoyDIYManiac food science and nutrition !
@@notwithoutpizza4702 yup!
I watched the whole video! it was absolutely amazing đđ I am an international student and I really am taking into my consideration to apply to Leeds Uni âŁ
Thank you so much for this! Coming to Leeds for uni in sept (hopefully lol) and I was really struggling with picking accom and feeling abit nervous. X
you're welcome, hope it helped! x
What have you applied for? Iâve firmed architecture but Iâm so stuck between all the accommodations. Iâm thinking of leodis?
Jess .Vernon Iâve applied for English language and linguistics, Iâm stuck for accom still as well! Leodis looks really nice though I think x
It's so weird watching this as someone who's also just finished first year in Leeds!! Such a good overview of everything, I love it here too and this would've been such a useful video to watch before first year began lol
ahh I hope I represented well! definitely, that's exactly why I decided to film it! x
thank you so much1 this video was so informative. I have just firmed Leeds for 2021 as I am going to take a gap year and this video has made me so excited to hopefully go there. Also your accommodation is such a find1 had never heard of it nut now it definitely one of my top choices.
yay so glad it helped! & yes would definitely recommend Monty x
watched the whole video and thank you so so much!
leeds wasnât a uni i looked at as itâs far from where i live but going to uni in september and this was still helpful so ty! :)
is anyone els surprised to see a 38 min video from her?! also loved the video and your recent content, congrats on 200k đ
thanks so much!! xx
Thank you so much this has been so helpful!
I'm in love it's so perfect!
Hi! Iâm a US student who has been accepted to a Masterâs program at Leeds. Thank you for posting this video! I am beyond excited to study and live in Leeds! Hopefully the world is back to ânormalâ by then, (or at least close to it.) Itâs a bit nerve-wracking to think that I might have to postpone my degree, even though the circumstances are out of my control. Love from Seattle!
I might get a Master's here starting this fall and I'm from California!! Do you like it?
Iâve just finished first year too and from nottingham - I feel like leeds is full of people from nottingham! Really agree with everything you said, especially with accommodation and couldnât be more glad I chose Leeds. I didnât get my top choice for accommodation (I got Lupton) and before I got there I was really disappointed, but now having been through first year Iâm so happy with where I lived (it was really cheap and honestly good value for money) and I couldnât have asked for better flatmates
Hi - thinking of choosing Lupton because of the price. Can I ask you more about your experience there?
thankyou so much for this video it helped a lot !!!
This was so much help, thank you!!
you're welcome, glad it helped!
This video is really helpful so far
why am I choosing my uni before choosing my collage?
Anyone else way too overconfident thinking that they're getting into uni now that exams are cancelled?
Yes yes yes - 3 Aâs? Easy ...
My maths grade is going to fuck everything up
lmao yep
thankyou so much rhis was so helpful especially since we canât even go to the open days :(
just wanted to say as another Leeds student who's just finished her first year, it is possible to stay in the same room / flat throughout your time at the uni! although if you're requesting to stay in the same room, please note that when it comes to existing students they tend to give priority to international students or those who have a defined disability x
Love you and the video is so informative and amazingâ€â€đđč
đđâ€â€â€ love uuu
You're fantasticđđ
Iâm Canadian and I study there. I highly recommend the university itâs simply amazing!
Hey could recommend a good Canadian college (not university) to pursue computer science
Thanks in advance
I would be grateful
@@heena3553 Iâm canadian too!! University of Waterloo has an amazing computer science program
ok were setting up a hummus society i'm coming to leeds in sep

Hummus society is essential

Don't be sorry about how long it was!!â„ïžđ»
Thank you so much for this video. Im hoping to star Leeds in September and I won't lie im kinda terrified. Living in a city is very out of my comfort zone but im hoping it will the right place for me in the long run. xx
yes you'll definitely get more comfortable over time, it's nothing to worry about! x
I feel the same! hoping Iâll get used to living in a city and love the change x
Thanks! this was so useful, Leeds is my first choice
Really helpful videođ€đœ
Hi! I would just like to say how inspiring your video is to me! I just got an offer to Leeds last week n I was actl so nervous n excited at the same time as in one angle I would love to experience my uni life in the uk but in another itâs a big challenge for me to leave my hometown. I think itâs basic instinct, that the first moment I got my offer I started scrolling through chinese social media apps to find potential schoolmates and course mates, n I started looking for outside accommodations. Then I noticed, I m gg to the UK, n the main goal of living in another country will be to know about local culture n experience what the locals go through! I started scrolling through youtube (donât worry I m in somewhere where youtube is allowed) n watching videos on how the locals view the school, tips on the different school accommodations n how to make friends. It sparked light in me regarding the point on opening oneself up n meeting more people. This is something that I hv been telling my friends a lot but I myself forgot about it! Yes, thereâs rlly no point in me looking for people who r similar to me or juz stay within that small safety bubble, it might be hard to meet new people at first but I will definitely meet someone if I open myself up and try! After having this thought, I totally ditched the idea of looking for an outside accommodation, I m gonna apply for the school accommodation n try my best to meet as many people as possible in sch n maximise my experience at Leeds. Thank you so much for this video n I m looking forward to meeting new friends in sch!âșïž
Good informative video as alwaysâšđ I'm planning on filming my Master's experience if that's something your planning in the future đ
such a helpful video omg
Hey Lydia, good morning afternoon or evening love this university assumptions Q&A video. You had opinions or options about the university of Leeds. This video will be really good for people or students to choose the right universities to you the video was useful to everybody to see what the university was like to go and live there for yourself. Poppy Turnbull I was in monty B too and can second this!! Highly recommend it x
India Hamilton aw thatâs amazing thank you! I applied for it yesterday x
Wow, u make it kinda easy. I'm an international student and I'm an ambivert as well. So I'm reaaaallly nervous about the whole university thing. I'm not at all into drinking and stuff....and although u did mention that there's no pressure....I still kinda feel scared. I just hope if I plan to go to this university, I make lot of good friends.....đ đ
I canât go to Leeds as they donât run my course but this video was still really helpful! Thank you!
I was an an exchange student and UoL and Iâm so bummed that I had to come home early bc of the virus. I loved that city and the school
Really helpful video, thank-you
i'm coming this september for MSc in Mechanical. I would LOVE a HUMMUS Society

Nice video with proper information.
Could you do a video discussing your degree? Iâm interested in doing business but want to know more xx
I would like this too!
yes I'm planning on filming this next week! x
Can you do a video on advice for year 12 during lockdown
please do a day in the life
Imma subscribe you....this video is what exactly i was looking for
I'm not even going to Leeds but this is helpful anyway!!
Love youuuuu xxxx
Current year 2 comp sci student here, most of this is spot on.
Advice that I resonate with the most is join a society that you're interested in, and take responsibility for your social life (i.e. invite people round to hang/go out and whatever).
I'd also add, try something new that has nothing to do with your degree, this is one of the most accessible places to do it.
Lastly, you don't have to venture out to Yorkshire to get some green. Meanwood and Roundhay are a decent walk or short bus away and make for amazing walks. Feel free to ask anything.
Toby Hendricks which accommodation would you recommend?? Finding it difficult to decide and would love to hear more opinions
I have an offer from Leeds for comp sci. What do you think of the course so far?
@@eringreen952 Hey. I've had experience with a variety of accommodations and in my honest opinion they're all pretty similar, some have their quirks.
I lived in Liberty Dock, it's far from uni and all other accommodations but it's close to the shopping area.
Oxley and Devonshire are a bit quieter sometimes feeling more like boarding school than uni accommodation (not a bad thing, actually feels really homely).
The rest just sorta blur together with what you get being indicated by the price. Places like Lupton and Henry price are your stereotypical student accommodations, City side's a little more fancy with most other accommodations landing somewhere in-between.
There's always a wide range of people at accommodations so I wouldn't worry too much about social life. Check the location before you apply, make sure you're comfortable with the walk, everything else is whatever you make of it.
@@siddharthshivakumar9176 In short - The course is good.
In long - Your experience depends on who you are, almost everything is nicely balanced. You'll do a mix of theoretical, maths and programming modules. The content is demanding but not impossible. Contact (teaching) hours are generous but not too sparse. Coursework to exam ratios are usually okay. The only issue is that the course assumes you know basically nothing, that doesn't mean it goes easy on you. You also have 2 module slots to allocate to anything you please, use them wisely.
If you're competent at programming, you'll probably find programming modules easy for the first (and maybe second) year. Same if you're competent at maths, but if you're short in one of these areas you'll probably need to spend time catching up if you wanna do well.
If you're already a good programmer don't take the optional programming modules unless you want an easy ride, instead take a school of maths module or even something completely different. The opposite is also true.
If you're competent at both then you'll probably be spinning your wheels for the majority of first year and a bit of the second. Thankfully Leeds is a pretty good place to be bored. Computing society will host a variety of events. And there'll be a plethora of other societies you can join too (+ Leeds is just a great city).
Overall the course is good, challenging and allows you to specialise in areas you're interested in. It's the 6th best compsci course in the UK apparently, but most Russell group unis appear to be on par with eachother anyways. Honestly I think it's Leeds itself that puts this place above other unis such as Warwick, Durham or Newcastle. But in the end, pick the place you wouldn't mind spending 3-4 years, the rest is basically up to you.
Toby Hendricks ahh thankyou so much! Sorry Iâve only just seen this but I ended up applying for Leodis. Itâs reassuring to know most of the accommodations offer the a similar thing if I donât end up getting into leodis though! Thankyou x
Hi, Iâm trying to study Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Leeds and am set to finish my application this week. Hopefully I get an offerđ€ Although I havenât visited the Univeristy of Leeds, I feel like it could really be the place for me, so this video was incredibly usefulđ
did you get an offer? x im thinking of firming leeds for september
Really helpful thanks.
What happens if I am of another country and I want to apply to Leeds scholarships but my country is not, like "recognized" in the website of Leeds to help me out with this whole thing.
Like, what should I do?
Love you Lydia â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
The lack of north-south divide sounds fab haha, as I accepted my offer for Lancaster the other day and I live 20 mins from Bath... bit of a difference in the accents, but I'm excited to go 'up north' to be honest, it's completely different and new :')
It's Just Em I did my Masters in Lancs last year, honestly youâll love it! Tbf there are a lot of Northerners, but itâs also a super international uni so it felt like there was less emphasis on the UK North/South divide - in my flat there were people from Germany, Hong Kong, and Mongolia, as well as other UK students. The most stereotypically Northern thing is probably how important the Greggs on campus is haha!
Jess Lee thank you so much :) and that sounds like an excellent bonding point haha, one thing social distancing needs to teach me is how to refrain from buying a Greggs every time I walk past đ
Hi Iâm not staying in accom for my first year but taking an external flat because I found one for cheap will that really affect me making friends and all? Xx
Such a helpful video! Iâve firmed Leeds for architecture so hopefully will be going there in sept :) anyone else applied to an engineering course or thinking of choosing Leodis for your accommodation?
yes I've firmed for computer engineering! as for the accommodation i'm not sure yet but I'm thinking montague burton
Can you maybe do a video or in a vlog talk about your course and your opinions on it, career plans etc?
yes planning on doing this next week! x
Hi Lydia!! Thanks for the video- you have made me super optimistic about attending Leeds as an exchange student. Do you know if they have residences for students on the exchange? I cant find information on this online and I am hoping I don't have to live with frosh!
Wow I am LUBS alumni and really hope you'll enjoy your time there
