And as a doordasher I can tell you all he had to do was not accept that order. No one forces him to accept that order
Exactly you can see the tip, and sometimes people change tips% for more or less, I'm uber eats and sometimes change but almost always is the same money or more.
Yeah, and what do we say to ourselves when declining the order? Pretty much what he said. Probably just had a bad day.
What's crazy is $5 is not bad. You get a lot of no tips and $1.
Not true I know someone who does door dash you are penalized every time you don’t accept and order
He just shouldn’t have cussed at her or said anything to her
The sad part is he'll probably never understand what he did wrong... 😔
I pray that he grows up, however he'll likely continue his bad behavior, blaming others and feeling entitled. I hope she got her tip back.
I tip around 10 to 15 because operating a vehicle is expensive 5 dollars probably just covered gas
@chriscalderin6677 what car do you drive that $5 covers only gas??? Even in CA gas is $4.5 and it gives you at least 20 miles. If its not profitable find another job instead of robbing innocent customers

As a GrubHub driver for 3 yrs I would say this customer was being very generous based on a $20 order and a Dasher is a total moron and deserved to get canned
So you work for worst than minimal pay........you are a total moron!
I was wondering what the driver was expecting. Tips are calculated based on the price of the goods. Not the income of the person buying goods.
Moron Grub Hub is completely different from Door dash as far as their compensations. Door Dash and Uber Eats give orders that more than 30 minutes and $2 trips ... what POS trash ... seriously Corporate and Republicans just changed America into Trash can
It’s 2023 never tip less than $10 have some class
@danielaguirre8286 Exactly ty ... the cheap low-life GOP and ride share messed up America
I'm a DD. Never ever discuss the tip with a customer. You have control on what orders you accept and if you commit to a delivery shut up and say thank you! 😊
I agree
Im polite and say thank to everyone no matter if its a 4 dollar run for 1.5 miles or 6 mile run for 14 bucks.
People think having a big house means you're rich. My guy, most home owners are mortgage slaves for years.

I rather have a mortgage ..than my dasher guy 700 sq ft dump lol..he mad lol
How ungrateful! I worked for tips for 35 years and was extremely grateful for every one I received! Dude she could have given you zero. What a jerk.
If you’re giving $0 in DoorDash, you should not be using DoorDash 😂like real talk. It probably means you’re being extremely frugal with your money, which means you should not be spending money in DoorDash because you should be cooking your own food. And if you “feel” like not cooking because you’re “tired” (cool some am I), go to the store and pick it up. If you do have money and you don’t tip, you’re just an asshole 😂case closed.
@467076 agreed, 5$ is definitely a nice tip but if you're tipping zero im taking your food home
she gave him 25% im glad he’s fired
No Lmao because door dash people tend to Take forever for your order or deliver others meals before yours def not tipping if im spending already hella on food then for you guys to deliver others first before . No thank you. Youre just delivering the food youre not cooking it prepping it nothing ive gotten many door dashers whome ive tipped theyve forgotten To even check if the meal fully there.! So people need to def deserve the tip. You guys got used to the whole if i do this i better get a tip no.
@@MarchPlaymatewe dont get a choice on whom to deliver too first. The app sends u orders and sometimes its 2 orders at same restaurant or 2 différent restaurants. Now that u know that, do us all à favor n go get ur own food
As a doordasher if I don’t like what I’m being paid for the order I won’t accept the order it was that plain & simple. 😩
Same, I do ubereats. I don't care if they tip. If it says I'll make $10 or above for 30 minutes or less, I accept it. All that matters to me is what the payout says.
But if you don't accept the order your acceptance rate goes down and could lead you to being fired.
What some delivery drivers dont realize is that when we order,we also pay a delivery fee and taxes before we can even get to the tip
Exactly.
True but the drivers don't get any of that. On the box it's even says it multiple times.
@@kimedgar2358 I understand but they should take that up with the company, you cant get mad at the customer for what ever they decided to tip after they just paid a extra 10 or more on top of the food already

@@LS-ub1iq the company doesn't care cause your just a warm body filling a slot. If you don't like it then leave is the policy. I enjoy my job but I have had some crazy situations. The world is just crazy now.
I was an Uber Eats & Doordash delivery driver for 2 years before I quit. Man I would have always appreciated a $5 tip, a lot of people don't tip at all. I quit because I needed a real job with full benefits. Don't take out your own insecurities on the customer, it's never going to get you anywhere better

$5 tip is better than getting a $2 tip. I used to do food deliveries and always receiving $2 or even $1 tip but when the customer gives $5 or $10 tip, I get all happy and say thank you to the customer.
10 is beyond like they gave you extra stuff or went out in a storm. Uber and door are expensive asf and the prices are jacked up

He didn’t have to accept the order. What he’s really angry about is his life choices, don’t take that out on the customer!
I agree. But as society keeps growing, and it's not just Doordash, people are becoming lower and lower on tips. So I do see both sides of this.

@@bjax3213bjYeah but it's a self-fulfilling prophecy. His attitude and conduct is making it more difficult for drivers to find orders with what they consider to be decent tips.
Sad part is all the jobs that rely on and expect tips are taking the burden off of the business owner and putting it on the consumer to pay their employees. This is after they're already charging way too much for the service. The business owners should pay these workers a fair salary and not put the burden of their employees income on the consumer. If business owners did this, tipping would not be required.😎
This!
As far as I'm concerned someone has been involved in the on demand world since it started, I agree with you 100%! If you see what I wrote above and anyone who reads this will understand the importance of a delivery driver being paid for the luxury service that they are providing. What's really sad is that most people don't realize this. I'm not saying that this guy's attitude was good or that it's okay to do what he did absolutely not! But I'm agreeing with this writer that the companies that are offering the service such as DoorDash or Uber eats needs to look at their business and pay a much better rate than they are. That's what's said the most sad part of all of this. 😢😮❤
@@foodievillage2852it's not just delivery drivers , it applies to restaurant servers. I always tip because I know the workers rely on it, but I don't really agree with the idea. I shouldn't have to pay for the food and also pay the restaurants employees wages too. I think employers should have to pay these servers/drivers minimum wage atleast, and make tipping more of an option for exceptional service and not so much of a requirement.
The gig worker doesn't see the tip since it's counted towards the hourly wage.
I 100% agree- they need to instill a definite delivery fee (not the free, or one or two dollar fees that I see on door dash right now) that goes directly towards paying them. Or give them a good fair set hourly wage that way no matter what the employee gets what they deserve (which is to be paid for working)
Don't be upset with the customer who doesn't tip, be upset with the company who doesn't pay you enough to survive unless you get tips......
That true! Doordash, Grubhub, Uber eats pay drivers improperly and inhuman! But drivers have to spend a lot of money for this job !
Jesus Christ!!!! Yes 🙏 finally someone said it!!!!! Thank you sir
I thought working with them was a side hustle and a job that never exited before, in which getting that side money ia 100% voluntsry and very flexible. Why ruin that?
Yeah . Delivery system should be abolished then lazy assholes who don't tip can get their own dam food.
I used to be a delivery driver and I LEARNED to appreciate all of my tips. Gratitude might be the lesson to be taught here.
Facts 😌
Thing is, he could've declined that order. I appreciate all my tips but if i feel im being low balled, i decline it and move on. I mean come on, im not delivering your food 10+ miles for anything less than $10. And i sure ain't gonna deliver food to you getting paid 3.25 for anything over 4 miles. Idgaf what your house looks like.
Agree with butterfly

Yeah, I was a delivery driver too, and after driving 20 mins out to an apt complex and walking three flights of stairs to "NOT" get a tip at all???? Naw, dude, gratitude can suck it. I'm like, y'all can suck it too. The wear and tear on my car wasn't worth it.
Funny how he accepted the delivery and the $5 tip and then complained.
This is why I don't use third-party delivery. No matter how much money you tip they're not happy. I always tip 20%.
Back when I used to deliver I was lucky to see 10%. It's examples like this they make a lot of us not even use these services.
Exactly I stopped using 3rd party delivery services too. They are never happy with how much you tip even if it's over 20%
Glad he got fired. Regardless of the tip amount, telling the customer F you is just crossing the line.

Doordash hides the tips. You never know which orders will actually pay until you complete the delivery. The moment he started handling over the food is the moment he realized he got stiffed. So true. As a delivery driver, I go where I know its bustling and good orders are going to come through. These people don't think like business people and post up outside of McDonald's all day and expect to make $20 an order. Other drivers complain about the pay, but they have to go into the city and nice restaurants during good times...then they'd have no reason to complain because when you go to where the business is, you get good tips and good base pay. But they don't think like that and it creates bitterness, which is sad and unfortunate. I've had weeks where I've earned $1k working only 4 days

Door dash doesn't let you know the full amount for the tip until you deliver the order.
I hope he learns to appreciate the next job, and learn to be thankful. If he can get a job.
I’m a dasher, $5.00 is not bad, $0 is bad…thanks to the tips, because fuel and car up keep is expensive…..
I’m ready for tips to go away completely. Every industry now feels they deserve a tip. It’s out of control. Pay people a living wage and be done with it.
This is how it's done in some Asian countries like Japan.
No tipping culture. Workers are paid full wages. Foods are slightly higher prices but the service is impeccable.
Tipping can actually be seen as a sign of rudeness, where the customer is implying that the service was so poor that the business needs more money to improve it.
Getting rid of tips and paying so called living wage to restaurant workers won't work that well.
You end up benefiting the government coz now the full wages is on the book and they pay income tax based on that. These workers will end up taking home less.
@chongb You’re a boneheaded moron. Unless it’s handed over personally by the customer in cash, it all goes on the books and is included on the w2. Companies don’t hand over the tips to their employees off the books, that would completely illegal you clown!

Recently I got a $30 tip from a customer for a Safeway order that was very large. I had my husband run up the bags while I watched my daughter in the car. The customer lived on the third floor and had a disabled child. She added an additional $25.00 tip. I DD because I am a stay at home mom and homeschool. I am grateful for the good orders and accept orders as wisely as I can. No need to be rude to anyone.
Kudos to you for having the ambition and motivation to want to help your household monetarily. I know that being a stay at home wife/mom isn't easy. My wife stays at home and does absolutely nothing. Doesn't cook or clean or take care of our kids. She watched TV and overspends to the point where we are broke. And I make 6 figures. Lower 6 figures so it only goes so far. Cheers to all of the good wives out there who actually care about their families and the well-being of the other members of their families.🙏
I love how this is news. My state refused to vote on marijuana legislation for the second time in 6 months and passed several bills in the meantime that would require teachers to report to parents if their children are “undergoing desire for gender change symptoms”

$5 doesn't even buy two candy bars where I live. "Feels like a lot,"? Please, tell me you're joking.
Getting fired from door dash is like getting fired from the volunteer fire department 😂
What most people don't realize is that Doordash only pays the delivery driver $2 flat. And people sometimes order and do not understand that it takes time to go and deliver food, sometimes 20-40 minutes, plus gasoline. So yes, $5 is nothing.
This is the harsh reality of working for tips, there are no guarantees. If you're not willing to accept that, then find another job. In all the years I worked as a waiter, I never once berated a customer over the tip they left me, and I treated everyone with the same great service. Likewise, working for tips is always a gamble, and there are times when you will work and not get paid. I had points in time I earned $25 an hour on average, and others I earned practically nothing. Door Dash is a joke anyway, there's no money to be made once you factor in the gas and wear and tear on your car, get a real job.
Yeah really can't compare this to a waiting job since you could potentially be paying out of your pocket to be delivering food to people with gas prices. With that said you don't have to accept that delivery and definitely never go to someone's home and talk disrespectful.
Delivery drivers get a piece of the fare plus the tip.
Yeah but in this case he got a pretty decent tip tf is he crying about
There is money to be made. I know a few drivers who profit from DD. Anyway, these drivers need to stop treating it like it's a job. It's a side hustle for a reason.
1. This is a stupid take. Tipping is a bs way to screw over workers, which is why ONLY THIS COUNTRY does it.
2. "Just get another job" is another right wing bs thing to say. It is said to retail workers and fast food workers as well. GUESS WHAT? WE NEED THOSE JOBS TO BE FILLED.
3. The absolute WRONG way to act is what this guy did. Vote for politicians who will change the laws, or shut up.

Speaking of low-hanging fruit, the fruit doesn't hang much lower than that.
He knew what he was getting when he pressed "accept" on the app. Zero sympathy for him from me.

You have no idea the mileage to get that food there. I’m assuming it was absolutely low hanging fruit. He could’ve declined it tho. If you were a driver you wouldn’t even bring up that 25% nonsense. He doesn’t work at the restaurant. He doesn’t know or care how much anyone’s food costs. Getting your food brought to your house is a luxury service provided by a separate business than the restaurant. He’s his own business. If you don't "look for the tips" as you just put it, then you're gonna fall into debt SUPER quickly. The apps don't pay their drivers. The apps CONTRACT the drivers out. Therefore it's the CUSTOMERS responsibility to tip. It's pretty simple. You don't wanna tip? DON'T ORDER! It's the same concept as dinin' out. You don't wanna tip? STAY HOME AND COOK YOUR OWN FOOD!

Exactly, there will come a time where gig company greed will cause most drivers to leave this type of work. I used to be a gig worker myself and I remember when the minimum order amount youv were paid with no tip was $8. Now it's around $2-3 depending on the area.

That said, clearly this guy is using it as a primary job when it is better as a side hustle for some extra cash, so he's sweating every order. It's funny how dashers often forget that people are often paying nearly TWICE the cost of the food to get it delivered, depending on the size of the order and various factors. Personally I don't think structuring any kind of employment around the generosity of the customer BEYOND the price of the service is in any way a good idea but this was just very bad form.
Door Dash is a luxury not a necessity. And there fore buying from there client get charged twice because Restaurant want to charge client to cover Door Dash 30% of the sales and Door Dash charges the Client to for Delivery Fee that goes to The Door Dash system Not the driver.

I only order from DD when I have extra money, feel lazy and don't want to drive and pick it up but I only order if I can give a good tip.
If I can't give a Good Tip I choose to pick it up myself so I don't feel I'm tipping low and disrespecting the driver investment in the car.
And I tip extra if driver is a charismatic individual and keep me updated on my order my minimum is $7 but knowing my area the further is the restaurant the higher I tip. And if Driver is friendly while texting he or she gets an extra $5 of tip. Making it $12 to $15 my maximum is $15 a Tip. But majority of the times goes from $7 to $12.
I tip like that because I know the struggle of delivering wasting daily gas and Not getting tipped.
While Gas prices are high oils prices increase the constant change of oil too and the maintenance of the Car including the Tires that now are $100 each. The investment is very high just to gamble if a client is grateful enough to appreciate the service with a descent tip or not.
