Sad part is all the jobs that rely on and expect tips are taking the burden off of the business owner and putting it on the consumer to pay their employees. This is after they're already charging way too much for the service. The business owners should pay these workers a fair salary and not put the burden of their employees income on the consumer. What's really sad is that most people don't realize this. I'm not saying that this guy's attitude was good or that it's okay to do what he did absolutely not! But I'm agreeing with this writer that the companies that are offering the service such as DoorDash or Uber eats needs to look at their business and pay a much better rate than they are. Other drivers complain about the pay, but they have to go into the city and nice restaurants during good times...then they'd have no reason to complain because when you go to where the business is, you get good tips and good base pay. If you were a driver you wouldn’t even bring up that 25% nonsense. He doesn’t work at the restaurant. He doesn’t know or care how much anyone’s food costs. Getting your food brought to your house is a luxury service provided by a separate business than the restaurant. He’s his own business. He needs to be paid for time and mileage and wear and tear on his personal car. Drivers are not waiters and pizza delivery is no easier than any other delivery.

Door Dash is a luxury not a necessity. And there fore buying from there client get charged twice because Restaurant want to charge client to cover Door Dash 30% of the sales and Door Dash charges the Client to for Delivery Fee that goes to The Door Dash system Not the driver.
People need to read what really The Delivery Fee is.. it says it there. is for the Door Dash Not the Driver.
I only order from DD when I have extra money, feel lazy and don't want to drive and pick it up but I only order if I can give a good tip.
If I can't give a Good Tip I choose to pick it up myself so I don't feel I'm tipping low and disrespecting the driver investment in the car.
And I tip extra if driver is a charismatic individual and keep me updated on my order my minimum is $7 but knowing my area the further is the restaurant the higher I tip. And if Driver is friendly while texting he or she gets an extra $5 of tip. Making it $12 to $15 my maximum is $15 a Tip. But majority of the times goes from $7 to $12.
I tip like that because I know the struggle of delivering wasting daily gas and Not getting tipped.
While Gas prices are high oils prices increase the constant change of oil too and the maintenance of the Car including the Tires that now are $100 each. The investment is very high just to gamble if a client is grateful enough to appreciate the service with a descent tip or not.
I always decide to $tip Good and always send a text after the drop off thanking them a good gesture always make the day of a driver.

I'm tired of people complaining about tips like they're entitled to it. First of all, it's a TIP..... it's for EXTRA work. Not for mediocre work or sub par work or even minimum required. You already get paid hourly for mediocre or minimum... the tip is for going ABOVE AND BEYOND what you are already required to do. You're a delivery driver.... the restaurant already charges a delivery fee so you're already getting paid to work. The tip is for anything beyond that and for you to feel entitled to it just because you feel you don't make enough is ridiculous. You're barking up the wrong tree. Take it up with your boss or go work somewhere else. It's not the customer's responsibility to pay the difference you feel you're missing in your paycheck. No one is forcing you to work a low wage job for tips you may or may not get. Work somewhere else. The customer is already paying for what they purchased.
