Kitty Wells is a legend of Country music and is fantastic at singing and playing guitar..she is a terrific entertainer and I grew up listening to this music..what a beautiful song..The harmony and rhythem is perfection..What a voice Kitty has and She is never forgotten..cherish all her songs
My mother loved Johnny and Jack. I loved watching Porter. Loved his band. After yeard of listening to the Grand Ol Opty and all the country singers, didn't know Kitty and Johnny were married.
These songs bring back memories and Kitty Wells has an abundance of beautiful music and songs..what a beautiful voice she has and she is still being listened too..fabulous
I use to watch Porter Wagner show back growing up and loved it..Poter Wagner is awesome and wears the most beautiful outfits and boots..terrific singer and guitar player..I learned alot from watching Porter Wagner and got to see a lot of musicians on his phenomenal show..
Norma Jean - pure class & such sincerity!! Wonder why she was stuck at the back so often at the beginning of these shows??!!! Lovely to see her introduce Kitty. So grateful for this era!!🎶🎶🎶
I agree with you and admire your good sense of humor, I guess you re a country music lover? His songs are emotional when it's comes to good music, you deserve a compliment ... how are you doing today , god bless and stay safe.

When I was a kid my parents took me to see the Porter Wagner Show being typed. I really enjoyed it. Since we lived in Nashville we went quit often. They don't have country shows like that anymore.

I think Kitty was the first female super star of country music. Everybody all over the world knew her, even if they didn't listen to country much, if at all.
I used to catch some old reruns of Porters show on one of the Dish network channels. He has long been a favorite of mine. Thanks for sharing this video.
There is just something about those Okies, like Norma Jean that add class to the show. They had so much exposer to all kinds of music out there. And of course Texas, but Texas is 10 times bigger.
It says 1963 so I was wondering if this was post Patsy C. plane crash, looking at porter and seeing a tan I thought yes, than when Johnny stepped up to the mike I realized it was cause he'd have been with Jack A. (Johnny and Jack). Jack died on the 6th of March, the day after the plane crash as he was on his way to the funeral. I wonder how I'd feel about normally scheduled appearances if I was in country music back than, I think I'd have to take off a few months which is what happened to Loretta Lynn.
When I was a kid I had to ask my mother what Norma Jean meant in her lyrics. Lol y’all about adult. Cry all the way to the bank, lets go all the way! Lol. She was very suggestive lol.
The one thing I wonder about is this: Were American TV early on still so bad that these blurred pictures/videos are the best we'll ever get to remember those legendary artists by?
I don't understand people like you. You could praise the efforts of these musicians without insulting more recent music artists. Uncalled for negativity.
+Eugene Horner Great song. I looked up on google: Green Green Grass of Home Porter Wagoner 1956 The Green Green Grass of Home Dean Martin 1967 Green, Green Grass of Home Elvis Presley 1975
Eugene, you know more about the song than me. I had a vague recollection of the song and found it in a music book. I learned to play an instrumental version on piano and I love to play this song. It is very bittersweet and well written poetry. I love seeing this video and am thankful to see it on youtube. Thank you for your comments. I never knew the history myself of "Green Green Grass of Home"
Charles Bennett Well Jack might have had a sister named Ruby? Yes he got killed and Ruby had a group with her sisters for awhile. Kitty and Ruby were real pretty women. Kitty was ahead of my time but my family in Oklahoma were crazy over her and the grand ole Opry.

Kitty has one of the greatest voices in all of music. And Pretty Norma Jean is one of my favorite female country singers.
Ott Devine saying " it's the Porter wagoner show" in the beginning . Ott was the Grand Ole Opry manager from 1959-1968
Johnny and kitty were pilars in their home community of Madison Tenn.
Speck's smile and demeanor reminds me of my Ol' cell mate😊
1963 was a good year..I was 11 years old😂🙌
I think Kitty was the first female super star of country music. Everybody all over the world knew her, even if they didn't listen to country much, if at all.
patsy montana was well known before kitty wells
mick martin Yes, that's right she was.
Ronnie Bishop looked at your profile and it looks like we have a hell of a lot in common.....

PORTER HAD A GREAT VOICE AND SO UNDERRATED
There is just something about those Okies, like Norma Jean that add class to the show. They had so much exposer to all kinds of music out there. And of course Texas, but Texas is 10 times bigger.

Oh yea..I love happy Foiddle players..and can dance at the same time..more the merrier..
These entertainers were having a good time.

Norman Jean also good
Tammy Wynett did miss Kitty's hair grandma made her dress...I remember it...

How much is that hound-dog in the window I heard so many times and sounds so great after all these years..This guy Speck is awesome at what he does..
good video
Buck Trent tearing that banjo up!
Is that the guy wearing his pants out from the inside, or was she talking about the fiddle player?
8:46 "Green, Green Grass of Home"
Patsy Cline also appeard on the Porter Wagner show,, but nobody has ever posted that episode...
The one thing I wonder about is this: Were American TV early on still so bad that these blurred pictures/videos are the best we'll ever get to remember those legendary artists by?
My granny ate this junk up
R I P GRANNY 😪
They cut it just as Johnny and Kitty started dancing.
I was disappointed in that too!
Speck was amazing
Hound Dod In The Window- That was Homer and Jethro's thing.
Kitty and Johnny
Boy, that sound engineer for the Porter Wagoner Show got some kind of sound, didn't he?
Porter Wagner's country music is worth $1000000 but today's country is not worth a $2 bill
I don't understand people like you. You could praise the efforts of these musicians without insulting more recent music artists. Uncalled for negativity.
notice they are miming johnny is nowhere near the microphone
Did Norma Jean have a last name?? She was beautiful here...nobody played a fiddle better than Mac MaGaha!!!
Beasler was her last name.

You are correct, sir!
Green Green grass, of home, came out in 1966. If I am wrong I appolize.

Porter Wagoner
1956
The Green Green Grass of Home
Dean Martin
1967
Green, Green Grass of Home
Elvis Presley
1975
+atwaterpub Tom Jones had a big hit in the late 60s. I never heard the song, until I came back home from Viet Nam in Dec. 1966.

Kitty was the best
no matter how dorky they looked the first two minutes jammed....
Great video but could you reupload it in a higher quality? It's very blurry cause you used such a low quality setting.
Was Ruby the girl singing with Johnny Kitty’s daughter?
Was Johnny's sister
Charles Bennett No, it’s Johnny and Kitty’s daughter Ruby. I looked them up. It’s fun researching these old artists.
Thought that that Johnny had a sister named Ruby
She was married to Jack Anglin he died in a car wreck going to Patsy Cline's funeral
Charles Bennett Well Jack might have had a sister named Ruby? Yes he got killed and Ruby had a group with her sisters for awhile. Kitty and Ruby were real pretty women. Kitty was ahead of my time but my family in Oklahoma were crazy over her and the grand ole Opry.
nope....sung live....very wide pattern on the mic
List of them scene 3:55
I said Porter Wagoner..r u with me
WHO IS THE BLONDE LADY SINGING WITH KITTY ? CONNIE SMITH ?
Where was Bobby Wright?

Buck Trent is still in Branson I think?
Buck Trent passed 9-9-23.
You sure don’t hear country artist sing gospel like that. To bad.
Good times, when the USA was the USA
I said fiddle players
