- Having been based in Thailand the past 7 years with Myanmar as a direct neighbour hadn’t diminished my own curiosity about visiting ‘one day’.
Myanmar had of course been closed off to tourism for many years, and has certainly gone through a fair amount of unrest since it’s independence from British Rule in 1948.
These decades of isolation certainly gives you a feeling that it holds many wonders that are waiting to be discovered.
Rumours of spectacular dive locations teeming with marine life - all without the throngs of lifejacket clad daytripping snorkelers. It seemed too good to be true.
So you can imagine that when we got the invitation to visit one of these very islands, we had zero hesitation!

I have visited Myanmar 3 times, its the most wonderful country and its people are fantastic and friendly. I have never been to this part of the country though, it looks beautiful. With the events of the last month in Myanmar I think it will be a long time until I am to visit again. Support the people of Myanmar in their desperate fight for democracy, its terrible whats happening right now, please stand with the people! Thank you!

Yes!!! It is relatively untouched compared to most other islands in Andaman ocean :)

Hi Becca! There is only the one hotel on the island and they have a small boutique that sells snorkelling stuff from memory. But I would recommend buying it before going there- cheaper and better selection 🙏🏽👍🏻😊
