Edo Governorship Election: Obaseki Seeks Reconciliation with Wike Ahead of PDP Primaries

  • In a strategic move to consolidate support for his preferred candidate in the Edo State governorship election, Governor Godwin Obaseki held a crucial meeting with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, in Abuja. The meeting aimed to secure the backing of Wike and other key figures for Asue Ighodalo, believed to be Obaseki's anointed candidate.
The meeting comes amidst reported opposition from Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, seen as the favoured candidate of Dan Orbih, an ally of Wike, and the current deputy governor, Phillip Shaibu. Obaseki, during the meeting with Wike, sought reconciliation and expressed apologies for past misunderstandings. He also suggested that Ighodalo consider Ogbeide-Ihama as his running mate.
Wike, in response, emphasised the need for a level-playing field and expressed reservations about dealing with Obaseki, citing concerns about past experiences. The dynamics of factionalism within the Edo State PDP, led by Obaseki and Chief Dan Orbih, remain critical in shaping the party's strategy for the upcoming elections.
Against this backdrop, the PDP Chairman in Edo Central Senatorial District, Archbishop Anthony Okosun, stressed the importance of reconciliation between the factions, warning that the failure to achieve unity could jeopardise the party's chances in the September 21, 2024, election. The unfolding developments underscore the intricate political landscape as key players navigate alliances and rivalries in the run-up to the elections. 🗳️🤝

You have a point. But it's not prayers that's the ROOT CAUSE of poverty. Nigerians are one of the most tenacious, resourceful, hardworking people on the face of the earth! Perhaps praying brings them HOPE! Nigeria is such a hopeless, desperate place, impoverished intentionally by horrible, gluttonous leaders. So praying is how some stay alive, even on 001 meal plan! Yet, they hope, because to be hopeless is to simply let go of the will to live!😢

He doesn't have a point actually, prayer warriors and non prayer warriors are in Nigeria. Why should he attack a set without attacking the other. Makes very little sense that he should attack people's faith. If he know what Nigeria would be without prayer maybe he would have a bit more respect

I don’t have a problem if Obaseki wants to mend fences with Wike. Wike bank rolls the factions of PDP in Edo State that has been creating problem for the governor. Dan Obih and Omoregie are working for Wike to disrupt Obaseki

I agree with you about why is Wike in the picture deciding who will be governor in Edo state. I blame people like Dan Obih and Omoregie who sold their state and soul for a pot of portage

When I saw that pew research, the one parallel thats immediately apparent is that the top 5 poorest countries are also the the top five most religious. Must be comforting... But a Million Women's March will be more helpful!

If enemies of Edo development like Dan Orbih and Ogbeide Ihama wants to use drunkard Wike to put clog in the wheel of progress of Edo State, Asue Ighodalo should defect to Labour Party or any other party and Edo people will move with him and deal a severe blow on the ambition of these poli-trickcians

  • @vbbb808

Governor Obaseki seems to have problems keeping relationships.
After taking out a full newspaper publication to lambast then Governor Wike, it is strange that Obaseki now goes to ask Wike to intercede on his behalf. It was even Obaseki's mouth that we heard Wike would be contesting the PDP presidential primaries and Obaseki threatened Wike with "we shall see".
This is the wrongest time to mend fences. Obaseki presents himself as a user. He ought to have reconciled with these people as soon as he won his second term, but he waited until he had use for them.
There is absolutely no political intelligence in such a move.

I thought this was a serious news station until I realised a strange agenda seems to be writing segments. Imagine someone fighing people who are praying for things to be better. Okay where were the non-prayer warriors when all these things happened? I didnt even bother watching to the end at that point.
Who will save your mind? Do you know how many groups of people are in Nigeria? Do you think it is normal that you were asked to single out prayer warriors for your tirade. Get someone to pray for you if that segment was your idea, otherwise get a new job if that came from the top of your organization. Something is very wrong.
May God bless you and if you are not blessed, please dont blame it on God, he is love, he wants to bless you, blessing is his thing. Dont blame it on me either, I am only praying genuinely for you to be blessed. If you dont see the blessing, rather than attack the sources of the blessing, look in the mirror and ask yourself a few questions. Better yet, ask God what you should do and ask UNTIL you get an answer, because God hears and God speaks, unfortunately many like you have never watched or waited.
