- Take a look behind the scenes of recent Hollywood horror movies to see the ingenious methods filmmakers use to scare audiences.
Jordan Peele had a set with oversized furniture specially constructed for a terrifying scene in “Nope” (2022), while M. Night Shyamalan had his team build a fake rock wall to turn a tropical setting into an oppressive prison for “Old” (2021). Ti West asked Weta Workshop to build ultra-precise aging prosthetics for Mia Goth to play Pearl in “X” (2022), and James Wan used a special robotic camera usually reserved for sporting events to film a harrowing set piece in “Malignant” (2021).
See up close the full range of movie magic tricks in the biggest horror movies from the past two years, from the stunt work and wire gags behind slasher scenes in “Halloween Ends” (2022) to the 13-pound animatronic creature head and 60-pound suit that created the Feral Predator in “Prey” (2022)

What 8 Horror Movies Looked Like Behind The Scenes from 'Nope' to 'Hellraiser' | Movies Insider - Jak na to + styl
I felt so bad for the chimp in Nope. It wasn’t scary to me. It was just deeply saddening. Prosthetics, CGI, etc. aside, they did a phenomenal job with that scene as a whole. 😭
The thing is right before he dies he does America sign language what translates to “Where is family”
@@_spl1t time stamp?
@@jacquelinealbert9186it isnt in this video
nah man chimpanzees are evil bastards, gorillas and orangutans are where it's at
i agree so hard
The VFX in Nope was so good, it didn't take me out of the film at all. I haven't seen X yet, but the prosthetics are STUNNING so I'm really interested in checking it out now.
The X prosthetics are AMAZING. A characters death at the end with a half flesh face was amazing it looked so real. And a knife scene was the first time I cringed at a knife kill cause it was gory and realistic cause the skin pulled along with the knife
I wish I could get these guys to do my Halloween costume.
Some Hollywood types with ridiculous amounts of money have actually done just that. Of course, it can't be as elaborate, since they might have to wear it for hours, need to be able to get out of it, and might find it difficult to walk around in a hundred pounds of rubber and servomotors.
Heidi Klum had the same thought, but yknow, she actually got what she wanted. Resulting in arguably the best halloween costume ever
Agreed
Don’t we all?
Fr tho
the demon dog is is the one that amazes me the most, considering it uses basically no cgi compared to the other monsters (aside from the back half, of course) and it still looks incredible. not to mention those eyes
Jamie Lee Curtis doing 98% of her own stunts in that film is highly impressive, especially considering her age. I laughed when Myers just bashed her head into the candy glass lol.
There was nothing impressive about that abysmal end to a brilliant long running franchise.
@@XenophobiaUK wahhh wahh boo
hoo, go watch the original sequels then which were way worse.
@@XenophobiaUK brilliant my balls... that franchise is mediocre at best...
@@XenophobiaUK Nothing impressive about yourself either, mate.
@@XenophobiaUK Also, horrible patch work beard
I love horror films, but I watch these videos to remind me it's not real when I get too scared.
frrrrrrr
The feature for Malignant didn’t show much in terms of the story, but as a horror fan, I definitely recommend it.
As a horror fan, I second that. Just be aware that it might not be what you expect. I don't want to spoil how because it was a fun surprise for me. Just go in with an open mind, is what I'm trying to say.
I’m impressed with how much humanity can do these days. This is all super cool. When I grow up, I wanna make stuff for movies like puppets or costumes.
Digital effects company's have strong armed and closed so many legendary sfx houses. These companies end up auctioning off so much of film history after they shut down also. Creature effects, costumes, props from iconic movies go to collectors.
I am a CGI artist and love it, but Hollywood needs to stop replacing everything with it. The CGI on the Feral Predator was wonky in some shots when the practical looked better. Touching up seams and blemishes is what CGI should be used for if there is a practical effect being used, not to replace the entire thing. The Thing (2011) suffered from this.
right ?
like the original Predator looks so much better and more terreffying than the new over done cgi version.
"the hobbit" actually made me hate CGI. the white orc just looks pathetic.
I have much respect for CGI artists it is a lot of work. But hollywood needs to calm the f* down.
totally agree! there’s a reason older movies (mostly) look better than the newer ones because they used puppets, mini models, etc. it seems like there’s no hand-made craft in movies anymore, it’s all just computer generated. don’t get me wrong, cgi is great with some thing but others should just be left to physical art.
Ya don’t say. Everyone’s so late to caring about it now. I can remember back when “the thing” practical effects were replaced by cgi. No one talks about that. Just wait tik tok tards end overuse of cgi once their slow brains process a lot of scenarios that this has happened in films.
Oh my god the thing remake was awful. None of the “monsters” felt like they where genuinely there, genuinely threatening the actors. I felt disconnected from the film and found myself not really caring about the conclusion.
You realize that cg is also hand made by artists. The artistic process is almost the same in cg and practical@@D3C4YING
If only this amount of effort was put into my Halloween consume 😂
As a kid in the 90s, i used to love that magazine, Fangoria.
Thank you for the update, Insider..!! The best 14 minutes spent today..!! 👍

holy crap, i didn't know mia also played pearl in x 😳
Fun fact, well not really so fun, in the scene when terry approached the boy in nope, he actually signs "What happen family" to the boy, implying that even the ape doesn't know what just happened.
The Actors who play Animals and stuff are amazing
The new HELLRAISER was soooo good!
It was alright.
I'm a huge Clive Barker fan and I have not had a chance to watch it. I was/am apprehensive, but I have to say the trailer raised my confidence that it may have been handled better than expected.
Agreed!! I loved it!
It was just okay little too woke for me
Gah I know it plays right into the themes of Nope but I've been wanting a close up look at the scarring prosthetics ever since I saw the movie
I’d kill to see a Behind the Scenes reel for Hellraiser 2022.
It was seriously good
whatever is hellraiser about? i dont plan on watching it, just wanna know since there have been like 10 or less movies on it
@@Someone_991 Hellraiser is, at its core, an erotic horror series that follows people and their interactions with otherworldly beings known as the Cenobites. It was inspired by author Clive Barker and his book "The Hellbound Heart", who actually directed the first Hellraiser movie (and the second one I think, but don't quote me on that). The 2022 Hulu Hellraiser is a reboot; it has nothing to do with the events of any of the previous 10 Hellraiser movies
@@kalebtuttle3474 thank you! I might have to check it out honestly
Honestly I’m surprised by the amount of practical effects were used for the demon dogs since before watching the movie, I wasn’t expecting them to use any at all
Refreshing to hear a narrator who can speak and enunciate properly, thank you.
A note on the creature from Nope: It's just an earth creature, an animal doing what it does in its territory
Massive efforts just to satisfy the audience, good job
This is so cool they deserve so much credit
This stuff so cool!!!! Also the narrator has a great voice
So much work.
Amazing work
All of them are amazing
Halloween Ends was far from being one of the most violent installments of the franchise.
Rob Zombie's Halloween was miles more violent
Wish there were behind the scenes videos of the other 2022 Cenobites to be honest
I’m always thinking about how the work in movies is done, it never takes away from the acting and scenes for me though
Nope frightened me
Cory DeMeyers is a talented lad. Going places.
😭 not Gordy on the cover
How did I miss all these movies????
Congratulations👆💫

Prey was soooo good
Imagine having an itch while all that silicon and stuff is on 😂

Is nobody gonna talk about IT 2017's insane VFX
Ok, now I want a terror dog!
And I'm sure he was handsomely compensated for his demanding job

1:23 what's the name of the background music????
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I have nothing more to say...
4:08 at my old job there was a resident who looked EXACTLY like these prosthetics. For some reason she couldnt pull her lips over her teeth. She was a super nice lady but I could NOT look her in the face
The practical yautja head was actually really fuckin well done. Too bad they opted for cgi in the end.
Interesting
Congratulations👆💫

bro why banban in the thumbnail 😂
cool
Halloween ends could of been way better with out Corey, wish there would of been more Michael vs Laurie, cause that’s what we all wanted
I could watch about 4011 more of these
The Devil dog from Ghostbusters afterlife is actually called a zul
See this is what I want to do when I grow up
4:38 Michael literally walks with her like she weighs nothing-
The hellraiser remake moving away from the leather aesthetic completely ruins it for me, I dont know why you would go this route.
They should have made a terror dog puppy, just for kicks :)
Behind the scenes horror movies
Yeah a little freaky still outside
Congratulations👆💫

Where are the horror movies mentioned in the title?
The nope one happened once
Ye.. takut juga bila nombor plate kereta hampir sama semuanya di traffic light.. yg ni ada saksi.. tak perlu penjelasan lebih lanjut rasanya..😊😊😊😊😊
I didn't go see Ghostbusters Afterlife because we didn't get any Hi-C Ecto Cooler brought back. It was only given to "influencers".
7:16 better hope the springlocks dont fail (joke)
Uuuhheeeme aaactuualllly 🤓
Fun fact, I watched this movie on a plane
In my opinion ghost busters isn’t a horror movie but at least it’s a Halloween one
Hellraiser. An absolutely incredible idea for a movie, I’m scared to watch the new one because I don’t want them f*** it up....🤦🏻♀️
They don’t. It’s a great film
it is good 🐱🐉🐱🐉
the nope one was hilarious to me
The most lifelike and terrifying predator was the original, because it was real
So was this one, did you not watch the video?
Ghostbusters should be blacklisted
I couldnt figure out why they didnt preserve the original look of the predator?
It's a different tribe of them, a so called "Feral Predator"
Like humans, there are multiple races of predators
Can someone please tell me where I can find the background music that is playing during the malignant segment? It sounds so badass and I want to listen to it.
imagine needing to go to the toilet in that hellraiser skin suit
X was such a messed up movie, i watched it with some friends on a sleepover, i was choking on my saliva i was laughin so hard
HALLOWEEN ENDS 😍😍😍😍😍
M O N K E in alien movie

Is a kid into horror movies and is watching this because they want to make films or is it me
Rob Zombie's Halloween were the most violent, not this
If only horrors and action movies had warnings for animal cruelty so I can avoid them, I could enjoy them more
There are entire websites that exist solely for this, so you can check the site first to determine (without spoilers) if any dogs or other animals die in the film before watching it.
Use your resources & watch more movies
So I hear in this that the team behind Halloween ends worked really hard to get everything right, can someone explain to me after seeing this what they got right in that movie? As far as I'm aware 0 😂😂
😮😮😮
But why is blood in here ???
Only problem I had with new Hellraiser prosthetics is that the material was too thick, it came across as prosthetic and not skin. Story wise, I didn’t like the change to the mythology of Hellraiser
What changes are you talking about? Aside from the puzzle box's rules, the mythology of the Cenobites in this movie is directly taken from aspects in the book and the first two Hellraiser movies
Hard disagree on that “most life like predator yet” comment.
X just went out, spoiler alert!
"Often seem weightless" use a CGI marshmallow as example.
Every time I see the thumbnail I think it’s Elon musk 😂
why can people never say prosthesis correctly? It's prosTHesis. Just like aesthetic....it's aesTHetic
I too love an astetic prostetic 😒
😢😢😢😊😊
Man .. Them last Hellraiser films were baaad ..
Hey Insider, you have an international audience… could you please provide both lbs as well as kgs?
No, use the correct measurements
