I recall years ago, Eddie Murphy said he wanted to do a western. But a gritty one, not a comedy. I know he doesn't have Bass's size but he is old enough, athletic enough and I think could play the role well.
Bass Reeves is loooong overdue for a good biopic.

The story about bass reeves was unknown to me before watching this video. A finer gentleman never lived! He suffered great tragedy within his family life losing so many children to death and that in itself is a tremendous burden on anyone’s heart. I am very glad his son was freed from prison and although bass reeves was not alive to witness it, I think he knew about it from his service in heaven! Blessed BE, This story is worth it’s weight in gold.!.

I read that bass was a cowboy. Noble as that job is, Bass was a lawman, a job at which he excelled. He was honest and very smart. Amazingly, he couldn’t read or write. He had someone read the wanted posters to him From the reading he would commit it to memory. He and his wife had 11 children. Since he spent so much time on the trail, I think I know what he did when he was at home! Had to arrest his own son who had murdered his wife. Bass died from what they called “ Bright’s Disease” a chronic inflammatory condition of the kidneys-basically kidneys fail to function normally. No real treatment at that time. I have great respect for Bass Reeves. He was one of a kind!⭐️

Excellent story and account! This is the longest and best account of Bass' life I've seen to date - bravo!
I am a Reeves, and currently attempting to find out if my great grandfather was Bass' son, Edgar. My grandfather, Edgar was born in about 1898, which would have put Bass' son, Edgar, at about age 22, when my great-grandfather was born, if he is the same person.
A cousin and I are attempting to finalize our connections to Bass, if any, but the timelines, along with other similarities are present and leaning in that direction. I'm looking forward to seeing the new Paramount Plus T.V. series on this wonderful man, historical figure, and lawman.

The trail is about a 30 minute walk to there. The grave is marked. That cemetery is also know as the cemetery for former slaves in Muskogee. The property right in from of the cemetery is for sell so the while business building is the only way there to the grave. Yes I have been there to see it not to long ago. The house the bass reeves lived was on Howard street but now it is where Walmart stands, his house would have been located where the garden center is at now.

This is the best presentation of the life of Bass Reeves. I agree with most of it and I have spent years researching the man, I disagree with the statement that he was never shot. I found a doctor's report where he had tried to remove a bullet from Bass's leg and decided that it was too close to an artery and feared that he could bleed to death if he failed. In conjunction with that one of his obituaries stated that he was buried with a bullet in his leg.

I think this mans life story should be made into a movie.. Denzel or Jamie Fox should play Sam Bass..

Thus ended the career of the real Lone Ranger. Such an amazing human being. Such an amazing story. This type of lawman does not exist today. Nor will ever exist again.

Never knew this until a couple of years ago. Never knew the Lone Ranger was actually black not white like he was portrayed on tv. This is not the first time that they put a white man in place of a story of a black man and it won't be the last😡 They've been doing this for centuries😡

I watched a show on cable about Bass Reeves. Jerry Skinner has provided a lot more history of a great lawman than the show did.. Jerry I love watching your videos. You always give us should details of a person's life. Thank You so much for all your hard work. Your voice is so wonderful and makes it easy to get wrapped up in the stories.
