  • Repairing a fairly common failure in the Pentax Auto 110 camera, the issue of the advance linkage failing over time which results in uneven spacing in exposures and a failure of the camera to work overall. Just remove the bottom and give it a little clean but remember a little goes a LONG way

Awesome camera by Pentax. Just wish it was fully manual! I am starting to realise that AUTO is just a synonym for 'Less Creative Control'.

    Thanks for posting the video.
I will be able to do further checks of the mechanism.

Hi. Thanks for posting, yet since the camera is moving in the footage all the time it's hard to see the mechanism working properly. Could you kindly make another video of the bottom mechanism operation of your pentax 110?

Hey. Any chance you can show a little more where you cleaned and oiled? Hitting this same issue. Essentially the film advancing cog seems to be too tight and therefore the frame does not always advance when the shutter is charged. I presume there is some sort of spring dealing with this ie preventing it from advancing when there is too much resistance. Can’t quite see where that is. Am thinking I need to clean the centre points of the two gears on the opposite side of the cartridge advance gear and then also the two big gears which are driven by the advance lever?

Hello! The shutter release of my pentax auto 110 is locked. I bought it yesterday and it worked perfectly, but today I pressed the button again to check and the button didn't come out. The button has stuck inside. Do you know how to fix this? I have tried changing the batteries and putting a reel, but it does not work. Thank you.

is it the super or the auto? if it's the super, there's l mode which is shutter lock. If it's the auto, maybe you have to pull the lever again. Try to aim the camera into a light and see if the light meter is working

Thank you for your answer, @@obatola ! My camera is the auto, not the super. I have tried what you have told me but did not work. I will bring it to a repair camera shop.

would you recommend doing this when the shutter just locks up? I just got one of these, was able to wind the first part of the film to 1 and then now the shutter only points backward and is stuck in that spot. it won't budge at all to move

Did you solve this? Find my shutter gets sticky when cold. Warming up and a gentle whack seems to sort it out, but not a long term solution.

Hi! Sort of. I cannot tell you what happened but I was fiddling with it one day and reattaching the lens and it suddenly worked and hasn't frozen since

110 is the cheapest format of all time. i reload my own cartridges using 16mm 100ft spools of film. cost me 64 cents to shoot and develop a roll.
