you did a good job reviewing these turntables. the c6 would be a nice recommendation to casual listeners or those who don’t want to spend a lot, and to definitely stay away from crosley’s suitcase players.
Detailed and informative as always. Thanks Jojo
Wow, a lot of this type of stuff goes over my head when watching other reviews but this guy explained it to were it just clicked with me. Great job on the review!
The Crosley C3 has the same motor that Sony and Audio Technica uses. If you have speed control issues, remove the motor cover on the bottom. It has two potentiometer screws to adjust the 33 1/3 and 45 RPM. I replaced the cartridge and speed adjusted it using a strobe ring and strobe light. Dead nuts. In a blind test, people would think it was a $500 table.
Great review in terms and language that is easy to understand. I bought a C6 and have to say it gives a few of my vintage tables some competition.
Thank you!
Great video. Really solid
Spot on review!👍
I've played around with my C6 and still have in my main system just to see how far I can take it. It really does well with the Schiit Mani, which pairs well with the AT3600L; has dynamics and musicality, only missing some detail and imaging. Biggest bargain in budget turntables.
Your review was well detailed and you gave a great explanation for each turntable the pros and cons were very good did not know C-3 TT had a plastic tonearm it looks cool and different I saw one just like it made by Pro-Ject if my memory is correct ,your dog was so well behaved I expected him to join in and help out with your review ,he seemed like he belonged there ,I have the C-10 it is a good manual TT I replaced metal platter for a acrylic one the metal platter was good but I was always worried about it slipping out of hand and scratching surface the acrylic is lighter but it improved the sound was not expecting that when you add the record clamp or weight torecord it actually makes the record one with platter giving it I guess the word would be more body it does sound better thanks for vid will have to check out more of your vids JRo
Seems like the C6 is a great option for people to get into vinyl. I'm glad to see a company with such a bad reputation trying to make changes.
I have the C8. It is quite a sleeper. It pairs well with the I Zen phono preamp. The C8 is a great buy for 200 dollars.
I wanted a record player. Nostalgia I guess. I found a C6 at a big box store locally, and it was marked at $50. It did not look used so I got it. Best I can tell, it is brand new.
Lucky you!
the C S 3 can be had for under ($60.00 Cheapie!) at half price books berkeley ca.
C3 is currently $50 on clearance, I might bite the bullet on it and pair it with an aftermarket receiver from a thrift store. Not “HiFi” by any means, but better than the Victrola I use now.
When installing the belt on the c 6 do I just place the small black plastic wheel on the brass piece then wrap the belt around the two wheels? Having some trouble over here thanks!
The “small brass thing” sounds like the spindle. And yes, the plastic wheel goes onto the spindle.
Then on the side you should have a small notch that’s from the motor.
Your belt should go around the plastic wheel and the motor notch.
When putting the belt on, be as gentle as you can, don’t over pull it.
After everything is set. The metal plate goes on top of the plastic wheel.
I have a vintage turntable collection, so any of the modern entry level machines under 1000 dollars are of no interest to me. However, if didn't have them, I'd take a C6 over a U-Turn any day. U-Turn is hyped junk, with their entry level not even having a tone-arm lift! You have no idea how many bent and broken styli I have seen in my friend's HiFi store, because people don't use their lifts, so not even having one is bad! As you said, U-Turn's anti-skating is not adjustable either, but they cost at least twice as much as a C6, up to 5 times as much, and offer no more. At 200 dollars, the Audio Technica LP3 is actually quite nice, has a good arm, replaceable headshell, and is fully automatic! Next up is the Pro-Ject Carbon, far preferrable to the U-Turn for me.
Thank you for the valuable input. (And I always use the tone arm lift. lol)
Very informative! Would you recommend the C6 over the AT lp60xbt? Any others that may be worth considering for $200?
Yes, the only function that AT-60 series have an edge over C6 is the automatic function. Other than that, C6 beats AT-60 series period.
Thank you for the excellent and detailed review of these two units. I have the C3. I was always under the impression it doesn’t have any antiskate But I’ve also read it’s preset? Anyhow if I set my VTF to factory recommendations of 3.5 Grams and use an anti skate test record the arm goes across the record close to the end. If I set the VTF down to around 2.3 the antiskate is perfect. I’ve been using the unit with the VTF at 3.5 until recently discovering this finding I’ve been using it at the lower settings. The sound is fine at either setting I’m just wondering if there will be consequences not using it at 3.5 over time?
Thank you for the kind words.
The VTF is more related to the cartridge & needle. I would use the VTF within the range that the cartridge & needle is designed for.
For example, C3's AT3600L + AT91 (white) is 2.5-3.5g. Using it within the range, and you should be good. (3g should be a good balance point, but always judge by your ears.)
Tracking too light makes the cartridge tracking worse and possibly bops out of the groove or introduces more distortion.
And people also say tracking too light is worse than too heavy.
You can also try the AT91r (The recommended range for this needle is 1.5-2.5 g (2.0 g standard)) if you are set to use 2.3g VTF.
Hope this answered your question Jon, cheers.
@@vinylanatomy7888 Cheers you did answer my question(s). So far I have not had any issues trying out the differing VTF ranges. I'll probably bump it up to 3 grams to keep it safe. I was kinda astonished that the antiskate test record was perfect when set at 2.3 grams. However I'd been using it for over two years set at 3.5 without any issues. Again thank you so much for your advice and excellent videos. Looking forward to viewing more.
What about the sound quality of the record player? That what I want to know. thanks
I did talk about their sound quality in the video.
Do you think the C6 would go well with a Nagaoka MP 110 cartridge?
You should be able to use it on the C6.
I can’t say about the performance since I haven’t heard the MP110.
What happened in the years time since these reviews were made of the record played in the $100-200 range? I keep seeing them being mentioned as costing significantly lower than what I am finding them for. Now they are between $200-300

Go check out my earlier video talks about how to compose an audio system.
That should give you a clear picture.
Just got the C3 for $60. Should I return it for the C6?
Personally I would.
The crosley C6 to me is a bargain. I found mine for 52.00 at Walmart and I like the Walmart one better than the one from Amazon as it does not have a speed control switch! You have to take off the platter and change the belt groove on the motor on the Amazon version!
Got mine for $75 black friday. I wish I'd had got 2 of them
My brother just found one on sale for $70 crazy bargain
C6 looks like project but a lot cheaper... The mark up on the project... Well we r been ripped off rnt we
