Ashtray maze is one of the most memorable sequences in any game ive ever played. Remedy is on a different level.
Until the Alan Wake 2 musical happened :) ... I really wonder what music theme they are going to do in their next game! I mean they have to do something....They have spoiled us now and there is no turning back :P :D
I find it interesting that the Oldest House is in several occasion helps you by blocking/hiding the enemies behind it's walls.
Also the music track is Take Control by Old Gods of Asgard, which is an alias for Poets of the Fall, a Finnish band.
Jesse is the director, Ahti's "assistant" and the Board's representative. So yup, the Oldest House would clearly be on her side.

When the music puts you in a flow state, you know you've reached peak gaming.
You will be able to replay it as much as you want using a machine in AWE DLC
I just started the DLC, can't wait!
You can also just restart the mission, that's what I've been doing for years to show my friends
@@nightscream22 The problem there is you lose any progress you've made past the mission. That's why the AWE DLC was so helpful, since you didn't have to lose any progress and could replay it.

When I played ALAN WAKE, upon discovering the radio that played WAR, I just sat back and listened to the whole song after killing the Taken.
I love this band.
Control/Alan Wake it's the proof the game are, more than anything, an art project.
It goes without saying that everyone who played this game googled ashtray maze song lol
Definitely a standout moment of the game. I'm looking forward to getting the album for The Old Gods Of Asgard. Some good songs in Alan Wake 2, as well.

I just did this for the first time about 30 minutes. Hands down one of the best moments in gaming I've had in nearly 40 years. It was so good. My jaw hit the floor and then I couldn't stop smiling

Best section in the whole game. Thank god,u got the option later on to replay it over and over and over.
It's funny how often streamers and youtubers get to the ashtray maze and insist on backtracking or try to outsmart the devs by finding secrets totally borking the pacing because they don't get that it's completely linear to enhance the experience.
The best part of the game,i was really not expecting that was about to play such a awesome and so memorable song on this mission, Totally the moment that makes me want to replay this masterpiece again, just to TAKE CONTROL again!!!
Yeah the ashtray maze absolutely slapped! I only recently played this too, decided to finally play this gem before Alan Wake 2.
To be honest I did not enjoy all of the game, some bosses were not great and lack of enemy variety starts to hurt later on in the game. But I won't remember that couple of years from now, and I definitely will remember this section! Up there with the best gameplay+music moments I've ever seen, with the likes of Beautiful Song/Nier Automata, Nightmare King Grimm/Hollow Knight and Ludwig the Holy Blade/Bloodborne.

I very recently first played this myself, very epic sequence! And I like the punny use of "fading" in the song lyrics.
I actually flew directly into the final swam which exploded around my head and I *did* have to start over!
I started playing this game months ago and couldn’t get into but I tried it out again recently and I’m SO happy I did it was phenomenal.
Played this game for the first time a couple weeks ago. Absolutely loved it. Platinumed it. Now on my 3rd play through. Didn’t play Alan Wake but when I found a paper talking about Alan I was hooked more that they both are in the Remedy-Verse.
It made me more hooked to the lore. So I went back to Alan Wake and it made more sense. The lore is crazy as hell.
Now it’s time to play Alan Wake 2. Can’t wait for Control 2

I got Control Ultimate Edition for Xbox Series X this past July and flipped it 💯.
It was a pretty cool game and the Ashtray Maze is my favorite level in the game and the song (Old Gods of Asgard - Take Control) fits perfectly.
I hope Remedy brings back the Ashtray Maze and this song in Control 2.

I kinda have a love/hate relationship with this game. I enjoy the story, I like the concepts, but the gameplay loop and some of the exploration never really gelled with me; however yes all of that faded in the Ashtray Maze. It really is one of the best sequences in a video game ever. I am EVER so grateful to Remedy to introducing me to Poets of the Fall in the first Alan Wake game, They're stuff both out of game and as the Old Gods just slaps very hard.

Idk how you can play with sensitivity that high without vomiting. I don't even get motion sickness but this camera movement has my eyes vibrating.

I don’t know if it makes sense but I’m also a fast fps player, I use higher dpi and aim with my wrist mostly, so it might look weird to some but it’s my preferred way :) thanks for watching!

I'm glad this type of thing isn't used very much in games. If everyone did it, it would become over done and cheap. This, Max Payne 2, RDR 2 have some of the best music video moments in gaming.
Definitely agree. This is kind of a Remedy tradition. Max payne + control and Alan wake games and of course Rdr2 (the most emotional one 😢) they are all special games. But I’m glad it’s not repeated too much. It feels balanced and special this way. Thanks for watching!

the ashtray maze won't let you in until you're ready. if you tried to go in and couldn't, it just means you just need to play further into the story. when you are ready to go through the ashtray maze and see what's on the other side, the game will tell you to go there 😀
Control is an amazing game, it's super worth finishing it!

@@Gapial Yep, you need the headphones (that play this song) to traverse the maze, this is very late into the game.
Playing with immortality or one shot kills enabled isn't really a challenge. Maybe try turning that shit off and and trying again when you're good enough to play without enabling the in game cheats lol

Why would you think immortality was on? We see her almost die multiple times
@@AZDfox Enabling immortality doesn’t prevent you from taking any damage. It just means you won’t die from enemies. So you could be taking as much damage from enemies and look like you’re going to die but won’t die to having immortality enabled.
@@Jaykofilmss I died many times. I didn't have immortality on at any point during my playthrough. You can go watch it on my channel and see it for yourself if you want

@@birdyrage sorry, I should have been clearer. At the point you are in you have the means to have triple launch and nothing survives three forklifts to the face and weapons become a waste of time. It IS intended, by the way, from what I can tell. Remedy wanted Jesse to be a goddess of wratch.
And slam is kind of a bad deal because it depletes all your energy. It DOES look good, though.

The "best" thing about it that you probably reach it before the story sequence, never able to proceed beyond a couple of rooms because it's not scripted and probably never return again unless you determinant to finish this game, so it will sent you there on purpose later. Would be much better if it works as standalone puzzle at first visit, totally killed the mood for me.
