That open side flanker for NZ has AB written all over him.
A f'n shoe in. Superstar potential.
My brother use to play rugby against him back in club he’s from waihi
Cant judge his foward playing skills from highlights ,but how tough will he be against big teams like Boks in future? I only see a brilliant back with a 7 on his back.
@@cruzerblack8789 when he was younger he use to play in the backs he was playing for waihi college first Xv in year 9 tben he went to ham boys the year after
Height will be an issue if he doesn’t grow…
Other then that he’s a star.
Their flanker is insane. Definitely a future All Black.
Saw game 1 of this series and Oli Mathis(NZ 7) stood out like a sore thumb. Watched this games highlights and Oli again tearing it up. Hope he continues into higher honours!!!
As a kiwi I enjoyed the Aussie broadcaster. Well done also to both teams. Both countries need to work together to help the pacific island teams and our teams as the potential is there for either to win more world cups.
And pretty good pronunciation of Maori players' names too.
Mathis might just be the most dominant schoolboy I’ve ever seen 😂
Jonah Lomu was the most dominant NZ Schoolboy player ever
@@kri-m19 “I’ve ever seen” I’m 23 and never got to watch Jonah in High School.
@@brokenjumpers5219 Agreed! Caleb Clarke and Leicester Fainga'anuku were the most recent schoolboy standouts for me until this 7 came along.
@@walezfynest Bro Caleb and Leceister were so unfair!! 🤣🤣
That NZ number 7, keep on eye on that guy.
Looks like he should be a back
@@foxyfoxyyumyum8511definately a back as he needs to concentrate more on his core skills as a 7.
Reminds me of a young Ardie Savea.
reminds me of Garry Ringrose from Ireland, tenacious player with loads of pace!
What’s his name?
Good to see a very strong AUS team. They were in it for most of the match. Just need to keep them away from NRL scouts.
They’ll go where ever the money tells them to go
If NRL can pay them big money to stay in Aus then why not? Union only has itself to blame for not doing more for the game.
@@MrSilverfish12 15 teams, lowest pay for a top 30 player is 120k, if you are any good you get 500K per year min, if you are elite - 1+ mil as well as a much more marketable profile.. Union can not compete now
Actually union can. The top union players will be getting more than the top league players. Remember that union is huge in France and getting bigger in Japan. The very elite union players will be on more than 2 mill a year. @@ballinwithkicks8436
Great to see the young talent coming through, and congrats to Aus for fighting till the end! Still - great to see the young AB’s turn it on either side of half-time and wrap up the win! Cheers
Some future hope for both teams.
NZer here - great game! Kudos to the Aussies - they never gave up!
A high scoring game, well played both teams.
Some talent in that side! Well done lads!
Kiwi number 7 is the best schoolboy in the world, glad chiefs signed him hes no doubt a future star
make sure they keep him . Would have been heaps of NRL there . Hes got the physique to excel in the NRL . Pure talent thats for sure .
I thought Crusaders did? Hope I'm wrong...
He has signed with the Crusaders.
He’s from waihi to Thames valley rep
@@raymond7451No rugby player wants to play a minor sport like rugby league. Rugby is worldwide and at the Olympics. Rugby league not so much.
A Super Rugby Team needs to sign up Young Matthews👌🏽 What a Star😉
Mathis
Maybe give him a little more game time to get some maturity before signing him up to be third string player in the big leagues where he'll sit on the sidelines for a few years.
Great game from both teams!
Some great tries there from both teams
Good watch. Very good skills. Well done ref.
Great game by both teams with a beautiful exhibition of attacking rugby. The openside flanker for NZ is a star. Look forward to seeing more of him in the future. Sam Cane this boy is not. More Michael Jones.
What's whit the hate... Mccaw wasn't exactly an attacking maestro either. Cane is the best 7 we have, and I like Daulton.
@@sammacculloch446 It's called having an opinion Sammy. I remember seeing Tom Christie captaining one of NZs worst ever U20s teams, containing Caleb Clarke and Hoskin Sotutu. Tom reminded me a lot of Sam Cane. Solid but uninspiring and unimpressive. See the comparison difference between my first comment.
And I personally always thought Richie McCaw was overrated. No one better at fetching and. jackaling, but was not a great runner or ball player. Not GOAT material. Id have Michael Jones and Thierry Dusautoir ahead of McCaw.
That number 7 for ABs is a weapon keep a eye out for him in the future, carved up in both games 🔥
Australian schoolboys- the feeder team for the NRL
Who has come from the Australian Schoolboys team playing for the NRL ? You're probably either overstating it, or just plain bullshiting. Rugby league is a minor world sport. The money is no better either. You hardly ever see rugby to league converts anymore.
Angus Crichton, Cameron Murray, Kalyn Ponga, Ryan Papenhauzen all were star schoolboy rugby players
Good to see sportsmanship from Aussie joining in the celebrations at NZ 2nd try 208min😂
Better open rugby and skill level from both teams than most games of RWC. Except some of them could do a season in league to hone their defense.
Darn good game from these young men who will be the future for Rugby Union in Australia & New Zealand. Australia you need to PROMOTE MORE SCHOOL RUGBY PLAYERS Young Men & Women at school levels otherwise you will have a lesser players available at the TOP LEVEL of Competition.
Sorry to disappoint you but the school system is tied up with the NRL including Public schools and all the Catholic schools only a few private schools playing the game here now many Rugby Clubs that were 100 years old have folded and now cease to exist , Rugby is on life support in Australia and struggles to get sponsorship because the NRL product is far superior .
rugby union is hopeful
@@DavidPola1961 David, mate, no one gives a toss about knock-off-rugby outside sydney/brisbane. This is a game of proper rugby with boys who came through their respective system. Nothing to do with your bogan comp, so not sure what you're doing here.
I can only tell you what we al see they don't even have weekend games and finals on TV anymore if your outside OZ you just don't understand the situation it is dire they are on life support Sydney has only 4 main schools playing and there is only a few teams in the east and north Sydney that's it
Great game
Awesomeness 🖤 Junior Blacks🤙🏽🏴☠️♠️
Try around the 6minute mark looked like a double movement
That Mathis boy....incredible!
Ka pai Lads 💪🏽
❤beautiful 🎉
✨ super talent ✨
Our no 7 ripping the aussies apart what a player what a captain.
that aussie team is no joke!!! future is bright for aussie rugby
What a game che solid boyz
👌👍Number one is All Black ❤✌️✌️✌️
NRL clubs need to get the cheque book out for the AB’s #7 and captain. Guy has the perfect build and running style for a league loose forward(#13).
Our future is in good hands well done BOYYZZ 💪🏾😎🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
No. Probably get our arse kicked by better teams like France.
NZ 7 is ridiculously crazy good - straight to NRL?
Are these guys still at school? What do they eat?
They eat Australians apparently 😂
@@allantakiari1822 yeah they are massive.
other schools
@@thesquire6352 😂😂😂👍
Up and coming All Blacks squad 🙌
when the tighthead runs a 70m support line to score a try, you know this team is something to behold
3 strong super teams from each country needs to sign these young men to full time contracts and have them play each other with professional coaches. As feeder teams. To Australia NZ rugby. Keep them away from NRL and build cohesiveness at a young age. Have a junior Dura team in the mix also.
Aussie Rugby can’t compete financially with the League and AFL, and young players get converted at this age unfortunately.
They had some good talent on display in this game too
New Zealand No 7 reminds me so much of the great All Black Kel Tremain during the 1960's
School boy rugby shows that the ABs have younger players coming through to continue the AB dominance and tradition
Compared to Australia yeah. I’m more interested in how we would compete against the likes of France, Ireland, South Africa etc
Not very well. Their academy systems have caught up & bc theirs alot more cash up north, it was always going to happen, R & D is beyond anything we've got down here. I feel the America's are also a sleeping giant.
hardly any of the kids qualify for this comp in nz because its made from private schools. we have 100 times more public schools with the same talent or more but their pathway is through local club rugby not school
@@thesquire6352I never knew this
Until they reach the u20 level where France have been dominating everyone France have a better future than New Zealand rn
Number 7 for NZ 💪👀
Sign that kiwi 7 up.
😉👍
Oli Mathis is him sheeeesh
Its a wonder Australia could muster up enough players , all the good ones are in the NRL system
That pass made at the 1:54 minute mark is very difficult to do.
A really entertaining game. Well done guys. True international class players.
Nz ❤
I'd rather watch these guys than the world cup
what is the name of the 7 of new zeland ??? he is definitely good
Oli Mathis
If you're not willing or able to tackle in rugby (yes, you Australia), there is no place to hide.
Mathis looked great but its a different story when moving up into the professional game. Way more physicality. I'd like to know what his work around tje breakdown looks like because, thats the core job of the #7. Definitely awesome in the open field, but whats he like in the tight stuff? Hopefully, a solid super rugby programme will help him develop into a great #7 or maybe a mid field back...
I can see him at centre -has that nonuesque ability to break close tackles really strong and determined
Oli Mathis Waikato LFG!!!
Love the Ausie commentators, can't stand out NZ guy's, exception,Ken Laban,
Well done both team's,Aus need more exposure to NZ school's,add the island's to the mixture, and the SH team's be Tumeke
NZ number 7 is like McCaw and Ardie all in one
No 6 and 7 for the NZ schools...!!!!! 😮😢😅😅😂😢😮😮
Close one.
It wasn’t a stellar clash last week the red card sealed it in the first minute.
They were allowed a replacement after 20 minutes , did not really end up having any affect on the game
1:45 he didnt go through the gate, that should have been a penalty to aus
Oh here we go again😢😢😢
Mathis is completing his time at Hamilton Boys’ High School but, sadly, is bound for the Crusaders, where he will no doubt became an All Black within a few years.
signed with Chiefs
@@jaoverrated5910 that’s from the Nz herald
@@Red.OG. The Herald got that wrong.
@@Andy_M986 fair enough, I think he would do better at the crusaders… Sam can is signed for 2 more years I think
Olhi Mathis into ABs as soon as, to be an understudy like Ardie did. BUT he will stay a 7 where Ardie should've always been.
Ardie is so dangerous off the back of the scrum. Mathis has 13 written all over him.
Hello
Definitely some wonderful talent on display, but the defence alignment and tackling was awful.
If australia had all there leauge talent they would probably carve most nations
Not sure about that, different game, different styles
Absolutely
not really
😂😂😂😂😂 yea right
No State Public High School kids in the Australian team. It's still a Private School sport ... and they will continue to lose until they change their elitist mind set!
Most kids play Rugby League or Aussie Rules.
anyone know - is there a school under 18 Woman's competition in either country?? If not why not?
There might be .just not as popular yet .
in nz we have local club rugby for girls (same clubs as the guys just female teams)which is growing so thats a plus. there are also girls school rugby in nz but i dont think many other countries do have girls school rugby so the girls never go and play tournaments like this but they definitely play tourneys in nz, as a young female player you start with your club then you make your regional team and then you could get signed by a super rugby franchise and then you make the black ferns that go on to world cups and tours. its not as big, well paid or popular for females but there is a pathway.
Have you tried Googling it? If not why not?
Early morning girl's club game's, college's have girl's comps as well, then club's have women's team's,in their region's,ie Northland, Auckland, Manawatu etc then you have NPC,then BLACKFERNS,none at the moment, between under 19s etc, between country's,could be, because of having to pay then,or contracts
Yes the pathways from club to npc/super and Black Ferns are well established... High-schools have limited funds and it very much depends on where they want to spend them - for example St. Bedes here in Chch had a good rugby program then a decade back or so - they changed that to a major focus on rowing - (where they get more bang for buck?!) many high-schools - (particularly the girls only) still run a good Netball comp!!
Better selection to much politics in Australian rugby😅😅😅
What did you expect we are better than Australia.
