  • Not a mechanic but I just have to exhaust all possibilities of fixing it myself. Long story short no start no crank. Turn the key and I get a click. I checked all fuses and replaced the battery because the old one was 5.5 years old and tested bad. I used a braided battery ground cable from farm and fleet to replace the original failed cable. I cut it to length and soldered the cut end to prevent corrosion. Cleaned up all connections and reinstalled. I hope this helps someone out there with the same issue. Good luck.

Thank you, thank you. We were perplexed after installing a new battery in our 2014 Cherokee TrailHawk, only to find it would not start. The lights and radio worked, but would not turn over. My husband was getting frustrated and I said I would look on CZcams for an answer. Lo and behold, your video was just what we needed to see. When we checked the ground strap, it crumbled in our fingers. After the second trip to Auto Zone in one day, (the first was to buy a new battery which we probably didn’t need) we purchase a new ground strap, installed it and bingo, the Jeep started! Thank you again.

Good visuals to get from standing up to underneath and then located.

This is a common problem on many vehicles, add a redundant ground for testing by using jumper cables from the battery negative to the engine block most anywhere accessible on top, if the engine starts, go find the broken ground wire from the engine to the body or to the chassis, thanks for the actual problem in this vehicle.
