A little video essay on why consuming art is like cleaning up your apartment in this day and age.

This was the best video I’ve watched of yours. Really liked it. Please make more like these where there are connections between basic life and art. Thank you. Great apartment aesthetics too!
Really enjoyed this video but I wish was longer!! I would love to know more about what paintings you have around your place and what your favourite music and musicians are
Looking forward more of your ramblings :-)
Fuck yeah that handheld Dyson vacuum is a game changer man.
The best part is it only lasts for 20-40 minutes on a single charge so you have to vacuum regularly in shorter bursts and can't let your home get taken over by dust.
Having a Room of One's Own is incredibly powerful.
Just remember that the source is far more important than the detail of the reflection.
As an artist who constantly doubts whether my art is useful to anyone I appreciate this video! :)
I really liked this one! Great content.
This channel is a hidden gem🥰
Love the vid man keep it up!!
Love you starting with JP. Consuming art is anything but useless. Love your channel man. It i spired me to start my own!
does he really start with that conservative Christian fundamentalist? 🤢🤮
@@brokenegg4714 cry about it
@@oldman_eleven i cant cry.
@@brokenegg4714 JP has gone Christian, but he is no where close to a fundamentalist...like not even a little bit.
@@BrandonsBookshelf it's outright Christian conservatism.
just found your channel, very much like this format, nice atmosphere, interesting thoughts.
Loved this
The order, cleanliness and décor of my personal space is an expression of not only my present self but my asperation for the self that I hope to reveal. Robin, your enthusiasm, for the art of living, is inspiring. Thank you.
I can’t be the only one who’s told you The tea reminds them of an adult Harry Potter. Regardless just found your channel through Mehret Biruk’s newsletter and really enjoying what you’ve got going on. Keep it up.
No sé si hablas español, pero descubrí tu canal y me siento identificada con muchos temas que tocas, tus videos son amenos e interesantes, gracias por el buen contenido!
Great Video
To experience art is to clean up the mind. I like the way you approached this topic.
“What’s that going to do for your career?” We have commodified everything to the point that even information and ideas are evaluated on the basis of “will this make me money”? And this mindset makes us so much poorer, as human beings.
The dark arts & cleanliness is next to ungodliness.
While this not-quite-eight minute long video contains both a two and a half minute ShutEye ad and advocates decorating your room, it, unfortunately, does not contain any material about how cleaning changes your life.
Why don’t any of your other videos have music. I think it helps elevate the experience such as the masterpiece of this one.
This is totally a constructive comment. I’m a huge fan of your videos and channels ❤️❤️
Me: wanna clean, but I want to hear music or something
CZcams: I got you girl
Good job, bucko!

i think, a sober room makes room for things you usally dont see like things on the wall papers
Dooood
Agree or disagree with you, your vids are always #thoughtful tfs
It’s cool and all, but mostly I think this video misses something extremely important. RC suggests at some point that often people live in messy apartments because either they live alone , or because they are young, etc. I disagree and think it is simply because most of us have limited space and we just don’t have where to put our things if we even attempt to make our apartments look “clean” or “reflect our self”. Obviously no one wants to have a messy apartment. It’s just not a matter of just “cleaning it”. Especially not some sort of “cleaning as art” or “curate the room”. That’s like for people who are well off and actually have space. I don’t want to say it , but I even feel that it is unintentionally arrogant to suggest what’s suggested in the video.
I think there are mental benefits to turning your space from storage unit into a place that is an expression of your tastes though, even if you are not well off. I don't mean you should become the kind of privileged minimalist who owns 28 items and just buys whatever they don't have, but I've lived in small rental flats (20-40sqm) with my partner all my adult life and the clutter in a small place really affects me negatively. I had a lot of stuff I was holding on to simply because it felt safe, like it somehow made me better prepared for the uncertainties of life. Recognising that it wasn't coming form a good place and doing a big declutter really improved my mental health and ability to be productive again, and in the 6 years since going from a depression nest to "curated small living space", I've never missed any of the things I let go of. They were simply a crutch to an invisible injury that needed attention. But that's just me, of course, and everyone's situations are different. You deserve to feel good and comfortable in your space, no matter how small.
Not everyone can afford to fill their apartment with all the art and other things that they love and that reflect their style. I sure can't! And space is what it is. But you can do some of these things he's talking about. You can get rid of clutter, stuff you don't want/need. You can buy cheap replicas/prints of famous works. You can keep the place clean. For a lot of us, it's not going to be "perfect." My dream would be to have a fireplace so I can sit in front of it and read for hours! (That's not an option for my life situation.) But if you can have even a corner that you find inspiring or brings you peace at the end of a stressful day, I think that counts. Again, it can be as simple as a comfortable chair, or even pillows on the floor where you can sit to read or listen to music. If you're a books person, it can be just a few favorite books on a small table/shelf. Even something as simple as finding a beautiful wallpaper/background for my computer is helpful to me. I switch them out all the time, just to have something inspiring/lovely to look at each day.
Just my 2 cents.
I live in one tiny room with my boyfriend, I have so many things you wouldn't even want to know. BUT I have never had clutter in my room. Everything there has a purpose as well as artistic value. On my desk I have a flower lamp that was a hand-me-down. It was bought initially from goodwill. It is beautiful to me and I also have a driving simulator, which to be honest is not nice to look at but when your in you can appreciate that it is art. I bet that you could probably remove 50% of the things you have and be perfectly fine.

Ironically.
