Making a Dirtbike STREET LEGAL!! | HONDA CR250 Flat Tracker

- In this video, I go through the process of making my newly built CR250R flat tracker / supermoto street legal! Started as a dirt bike, now we here :) It's actually fairly simple most of the time. At the most basic, you need a horn, mirror, headlight, and tail light. That's all you need in Montana. Many places also require turn signals and are strict about high and low beam settings for your headlight. Make sure to check your local requirements.

I had to slide it up an inch so I had enough length so it wasn’t stretching when I turned.

@@smtony_ No problems at all, crazy bright for light riding. I got both from blinkers on each of the forks, and 1 big light on top of my number plate. The taillight is under my tail fender and it has blinkers integrated within in. Also when you hit the brake, the red light gets super bright so cars can easily tell when you’re stopping. Yeah I’ll make a vid in the spring, too cold and snowy now, I’m from upstate NY.
Nice simple set up,, thinking about doing this to a 2012 CR450 barn find, wasnt raced or ridden hard (never judge squid riders youll get their bikes some day😁)
Second headlight might be cool, or a light bar. I only need headlight, tail light and horn here in FL.... Im allergic to blue lights so I dont sweat it,,, E-start would be nice, had a KTM a while back, E-start was nice..I"m checking out Street OHV" right now........👍
A set up like this is literally thousands less then another KTM

Yeah that kinda sucked. Not the highest quality, but it is a solution.
Well if you have everything on your bike and everything is visible you should be good.

Awesome! I’d like to do this to my CR125 but I have a few questions
1. Can the harness reach back far enough to put the light/plate on the rear fender? If not, have you had any issues with people not being able to see your brake light?
2. Did you make a mount for the battery in the air box or just put it in as it is?
I live in South Dakota so like you, playing bikes are easy here. Just want to learn more about this kid before I get it.

I just bought a 250 and I want street tires. Please help!! The tires it came with says 100/90/18 rear and 80/100/21 front.. I don’t want the street tires to be too skinny

Tapped into my capacitor and bike wouldn’t run the entire system the bike would stall whenever you turn the lights on

Not sure how you would rig it because the switch is for hydraulic brakes.

How do u wire the turn signals? I have a tusk light kit but idk how to wire the turn signals like your
I don't know anything about the Tusk light kit. Do they not have it listed in the instructions?
@@JourdonGulick they do but it doesn’t say anything about connecting a drl turn signal it only gives information on how to connect the power and ground cable and once I connect the turn signal all together it won’t show the turn signal only the drive light I’m not good with wiring

I live in WI and have yet to see a video on getting a title or license plate on a dirt bike here. My understanding is that the 8th character of the VIN will be a "C" or "3" on an off-road bike (MX or pure enduro) and that will alert the DMV that it's not Federally compliant with safety, emissions, etc. I assume this would be an issue whether I buy a brand new Beta or KTM 2 stroke, or if I buy a titled out of state bike? Looks like folks in SD, OH and other states have very lienient DMV's.
I could title my cr250 for the road in AZ
@@internetpointsbank , nice! I bought a new Beta XT last year and managed to title it in WI. Wasn't easy though. Every state is different.

Oh shit I just noticed it's a CR250 2 stroke, I thought this was the crf250 the 1st time I watched this. A 250 2 stroke supermoto would be badass. Are you able to ride on the highway or is that not a good idea?
It's fun to ride around town, but on the highway it feels like it's gonna blow haha. Pretty rough on the engine when you are wide open for long periods of time.
What’s up man! Sweet bike, I’m currently wanting to get a street legal moto! I currently own a 2003 CR250. The bike is super fast, I LOVE 2 strokes! The bike will not be a daily commuter, just something to have fun on. Do you think the 250 is capable of making a 30-40 mile commute to my fathers house every now and again? It’s basically back roads 35-55 MPH, or would I be better off getting a 450 or actual super moto? I would love to stay with an actual dirt bike
That's mostly the kind of roads I rode on. It pushes the CR250, it's just not built to be held at high speeds. To me it seems rough on the bike and I'm really not sure how well everything would hold up long term.
If you have the means to I would go with a 450. Just more usable power on the roads.
One thing I always loved was flying through the gears on my CR though. Such a blast.

Gear up a few teeth.There is plenty of room to gear up the CR's.

Ziptied it in the airbox. It's secure enough.

How much run time were you getting out of a battery?
Drained the battery pretty fast. Maybe 3-5 hours ride time.

Yes, you just have to buy a battery and mount it somewhere (airbox) for only the lights to run off.
If you get a lighting stator and regulator rectifier you can use a tiny battery and it will never run out of juice

Did you tap into the stator to recharge the battery
No, it's just the battery. When it dies you just have to throw it on the charger. Not ideal, but the battery lasts awhile.

that company has many bad reviews. i still have not received my stuff . emailed twice . phone number is not good
Great install video, however STREETOHV quality is garbage. It does not work as it should. All the components are off alibaba and the owner is rude, condescending and a jerk. DO NOT BUY THIS KIT.
How did you mount your battery?
Only place for it was the airbox. A few zip ties held it in place.
