I'm 56 and still dreaming of van life. Until that day comes for me, I'll live vicariously through you. Be safe and enjoy!
I’m 46 and van life seasonally as my work is in Northern and Southern California. Love it for financial reasons. Minimize and go with what you already have 🎈
I'm 56 Leah get in the van
Cool. I move city to city for my work. I built a camper van myself to live in. I camped at for sleep at walmart, 24hrs fitnesses, safe streets corners etc… it’s been years now and loved it. On days off I can freely travel through California north and south. It’s all about freedom and stress less.
I’m a 55 year-old woman living in my vintage RV travelling around Australia and can relate to much of what you talk about here, so much so that you’ve inspired me to make a similar video about the mental health aspects of my version of vanlife too! I have deal to with lots of challenges but those moments of natural beauty you speak about, freedom and solitude far outweigh the hard parts by far! This lifestyle suits my nature perfectly and although the adjustment is challenging, I now wouldn’t have it any other way! I’ve been living this way for the past 4 years now. Just subscribed to your channel and look forward to following your journey ❤
Your van is set up like mine. I love spending the summers traveling around exploring the country. I have a house in Florida, and a farm in Tennessee. I prefer living in my van.
Keep smiling and traveling and following your dreams, you escaped the matrix which is all we can ever hope for on this short journey we’re on.
I think you’re awesome and beautiful, keep shining 🙏
As a queer man living in my minivan I definitely have a heightened sense of anxiety (more than usual!) regarding safety too - and navigating certain parts of Australia where homophobia still exists. I also totally relate to car operating anxiety. It's full on huh! I talk to my minivan a lot! :) "We'll all be fine, won't we?" And yes, I stay a lot in caravan parks and ... sanitise SO MUCH!!!
oh gosh I can't even imagine.
I also am very careful in certain parts of the US, I'm glad someone else can relate to this.
And I just bought like three little tubs of hand sanitizer XD was getting so tired of thinking about all the germs on gas pumps
wishing you health and safety :)
I just love you Emma. Your videos are so uplifting .
Thank you, Im happy that you’re enjoying :)
I understand, my 25 year old daughter that also works in healthcare has similar issues, in fact while watching this video I can close my eyes and imagine I am listening to her talk, very similar. I don't know you but the few video's I've watched of yours you sound very smart and seem to have things together but being very close to my daughter I know that having someone tell you that does not help. Just know you are handling your life just as my daughter is. Wish I knew more of what to say to help both of you and all the rest that struggle with anxiety. Take care!
I can really relate to vehicle & financial anxiety. At 67, health is also a little bit of a worry.
Nice cooking segment! I rarely go beyond a can of soup, honestly. Made my mouth water.😊
While Im not glad that you are able to relate, Im glad that we share some common anxieties lol 😂 nice to know youre not alone
The carbonara was pretty easy but the dishes were NOT 😢 i also usually just do canned soup lol this video was an exception
I like being alone but when it comes to trying new thing and exploring new places, I definitely prefer to have a friend to do it with.
I use to have anxiety about being stranded on the road so I never took road trips. I got over it and now I have a better running van and AAA and I know at the end of the day, everything is going to work out. I plan doing solo trips and car camping soon.
I love that you're talking about Mental Health!❤ Thank you!
I'm glad, was a little unsure about posting my mental health video but I'm glad it's being received well
Your video helped me big time today. I wrote a thousand word comment to your video and then got insecure and deleted it all. Trust me tho. All good stuff. Love what you're doing.
My brain thinks along similar lines too w your fears. I really enjoyed it. Not many van life or car life videos out there that I've seen that touch on it like you did. Sooo thanks :)
Hoping to eventually get a sprinter for me and my dogs and two kids. For now we turned our kia van into a mini home. We camp in it. Not live. Too many bodies 😅
They like to spend time out in it tho all day long.
ANOTHER KIA PERSON HELLO :)
Im not glad that you related to this but Im really happy that you found it helpful! I was nervous putting it out there to be honest.
I hope you have some incredible adventures and that the anxiety is at least manageable enough for everyone to have a good time. All that matters :)
Great vid. Thanks for sharing... ive watched all of your videos.. You have an intelligent, humorous and honest way of handeling situations on the road.
You must have great parents!!
I do XD
Pretty happy to have run across your channel! Went back to your van tour and have been moving forward from there. Like your choices in music with the mountain hikes and carbonara cooking. Trying to buy a van right now to hit the road in the fall. Total introvert here so, can believe I understand many of your points. Total car anxiety where I had my car stolen from right in front of my house just under a year ago. Wondering about your rain forest comment... were you referring to Washington? I live in Humboldt county in far northern California... behind the Redwood curtain... and love living in this environment. Alas, I want to run amok. Take care and enjoy!
You made such a good video :) Thank you for sharing ! ♥
This health pros and cons video is so relatable ! Appreciate your struggles and successes!
Hi Em. I really enjoyed the video. I could strongly relate to the vehicle anxiety stuff. I used to experience those same feelings when we were maney miles from home with the Motorhome.
Enjoying the video and content.
the video when the squirrel got in your van that was so funny you said you got to get out of here mister you
need to watch the mel brooks movie " high anxiety" that will help calm you down having a sense of humor in life with everything is very helpful and you just laugh it off whatever it is if you fall whatever don't let it bother you it's not that important my mother always used to say life's too short
Hello Emma and BusBus 🚌
I’m new to your page but already love it.
I’m also a Vanlifer 🚐 (no channel though) and I absolutely love watching videos from others who post.
I’ve been traveling since the “pandemic” and actually love it for the most part.
Anyhow, I just wanted to drop a message saying hello. Be safe out there, enjoy yourself, and please pay attention to your surroundings. I look forward to seeing more of your content.
Just found your channel and love your videos.. I especially like how real you keep it and enjoy seeing all the different places you go to. Got to say though my anxiety is triggered when I see you walking so many isolated trails alone (btw I am 46 with kids in their twenties so think its a mum thing :)).. but good on you for living your life to the fullest. Take care, and enjoy your adventures x
Thank you so much for watching! I appreciate it, will do my best to stay safe lol :)
Ney Emma! Totally appreciate you, your build, and your videos. Although young in years, you're wise amd have an old soul. I'm stealth SUV'inv in SoCal and can relate to your pros/cons. Best wishes and safe travels!
Hello ..for mice get some peppermint oil, Cinnamon , and mothballs put by each tire to help run mice off. Mice don't like the smell. Seen other people use mostly peppermint oil. Enjoy the rest of your day😊
Great tip. Especially as it gets colder 😊
This is excellent thank you
Thank you for learning one new word of Carbonara, and how to cook it. Enjoy!
God Bless you. Wonderful videos with the Best content of their kind. You explain every point from the deep of your heart with nice worlds, like a poem in prose, and like today's take into consideration other people reasons they may have to start living alone, then you give an advise. You are very nice
thank you so much! Im so glad you enjoyed :)❤❤
Girl, I wish I was there to give a hug 🤗❤❤❤❤❤
I love my Gasone burner for camping.
Great video. ❤❤❤
Thank you! 🤗
Great channel Emma! Just subscribed ✌🏻
Thank you so much!! :)
Just found your channel, binge watching all of your videos now. This is month 6 of me living in my van. I feel you on the anxiety, but I wouldn’t change a thing. Safe travels ❤
this is month 6 for me too!!! Enjoy and stay safe :) :)
@@Emma-and-BusBus thanks sweetie
Your a bright smart person, you will be alright kid! Soon you will monetize and keep this going for however long you want, hang in friend….
Oh gosh I hope so! Thank you for watching :)
My Brothers and Sisters, Mental Health, is a very very very Serious Problem Around The World 🌎 for real.
Hi Emma, I like your personality. Sweet, cool, and awesome. That Carbonara looks delicious, and you make it look so easy to make. So I am going to give it a try.
I am hoping to get a Gas One Butane/Propane Portable Stove like yours.. I like it. It looks easy to use.
I wish you well ✌🏼,❤️ and take care. I will keep you in my prayers 🙏🏼 good night
You are definitely one of the smartest people I have known for many years. Take care, and thank you for your help.
You’re very kind, thank you :) glad you enjoyed the video.
I can totally relate to the health anxiety about public bathrooms. I am forever grateful to Sagrotan and other disinfectant manufacturers - I could not survive without them :D If I ever win a prize they will be part of my thank you speech lul
Great video, I am really enjoying your content! Have you thought about using a sanitizing surface spray before showering in public showers ? I have type 1 diabities and because I continuously have a pump and CGM inserted, microorganisms and mold do give me some anxiety in situations where I have to use shared bathrooms and showers. Although I am no germophobe, sometimes sanitizing the surface area makes me feel more at ease, although I don’t know how effective it is!
This is an excellent idea thank you so much for sharing, I never thought to just do a lil spray. Even if all it does is make me feel better
I'm just 4 minutes 22 seconds in, but the car anxiety makes a lot of sense. Especially being the car is your home on wheels, and you have to rely completely on your car to stay good for very important reasons!
YES i haven’t seen people talk about it, it got so bad! Theres so much stuff I haven’t seen because I’ve been scared to drive on some dirt roads
Magnifique 👍 ❤
Hi Emma. Hope all is well. I enjoyed your video and your honesty. Thank you for sharing.
I'm a sociable person, but I tend to prefer empty places instead of places with large crowds. But I enjoy sharing those places with people that I love. Isn't that weird?
Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay happy. Everything else is manageable.
Pops
Thank you for your well wishes, Im happy that you enjoyed the video :)
Nobody can take away your beautiful memories ❤
I just started & im 5 days in, I’ve been struggling sm bcuz of my anxiety with safety & where to park to sleep for the night. This video made me feel less alone thank u 💗
OH MY GOD CONGRATULATIONS ON GETTING OUT YOU’RE ABSOLUTELY NOT ALONE DUDE depending on your location I might be able to recommend some spots if you like
@@Emma-and-BusBus thank you SO MUCH😭😭 I’ve been so scared but I planned this for sm months. I’m currently near Iowa/South Dakota. I’m so glad I found ur channel!!
DM me on instagram :)
@@Emma-and-BusBus got it!! tysm 🙏
If you're getting frequent nightmares it's time for medicines because that usually happens when yoga/deep breathing and other natural remedies just aren't working. You'd still need a prescription and I'd recommend clonazepam 0.5mg for 2 weeks. It'll help with the anxiety. Giving your mind a break from overthinking helps long term, and 2 weeks is short enough to not get medicine dependence
the car anxiety is better than it used to be and times of stress are expected with large lifestyle changes ❤️
What is the medical wrist band you wear for? You are doing amazing out there on your own girl. Keep up the great work and having fun making lots of wonderful memories for yourself.❤
Please please please do NOT feel guilty or stupid regarding overstimulation. I'm a very confident chatty person but I'm a true introvert in that I need serious amounts of time on my own to recharge my batteries. I can't bear being in busy places and hate too much noise. Thats why I live in my van too (though I'm a much older bird and live in the uk!)
We are all different, we all have different likes, needs, desires and if people don't like how you live, eff them! Do you. You're amazing and have THE most amazing, quirky personality (Quirky is a compliment from me!) You probably won't read this as it's an older vlog but hopefully you'll catch the vibes anyway! Tracy 🙏 😜
Thank you SO MUCH for commenting I try to read all my comments! Im so glad that someone else relates to the severity with which I get overstimulated in busy areas. Its honestly ridiculous sometimes it feels like I cant enjoy anything 😂 but those moments where Im alone and at complete peace are so worth it
I’m a loner and get serious anxiety if I’m in a beautiful place and there’s a lot of people. I just want to experience the beauty without others. I feel that I can take in the beauty in a more intimate way without distractions.
you get it :) ❤️
New Subscriber!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mega LOVE
AHH thank you for subscribing!! :)
Yes Yes!!!!!!
As for mice in the car, maybe get a terrier dog. A dog will give you a sense of safety, their ability to read body language and sense of smell will help you read who is safe to be around and who isn’t. A dog is an incredible asset for dealing with anxiety, petting a dog is soothing and good for our brain: we evolved together for at least the last 20,000 years. Humans are herd animals and dogs pack animals so we got together like wine and cheese.
Emma be a mess - NOT ... Diggin your Converse's ...
I listen to 2 podcasts to help with my anxiety, The Anxious Truth & Disordered. You should check them out.👍
Thanks Emma, for sharing your stories of your van life experiences. Yes, I am concerned about your travelling out on your own, however I think your awareness of possible dangers will keep you safe from wild animals and anxiety. I was wondering if you are still dealing with those crazy dreams and nightmares. If so, have you ever thought of acquiring a Native American dream catcher. They are supposed to capture the bad dreams and only allow the good to pass through. 🕸 I heard that they don't work unless someone gifts one to you. I have no way to send you one unless you have a PO Box. They are around $25. Maybe I could just wire you the money for one.
Thats so sweet! Im moving around a little too quickly to get a PO box right now but that might be something I do in the next couple months?
And how long you can do this……?
You should definitely be more worried about the rivers and lakes in comparison to the chlorinated water coming from the tap. Brain eating, stomach attaching, urethra attacking bacteria exists in the waters of the wild and it gets worse with the rise of mother earth's temperatures. The warmer the waters the more likely to incubate diseas and bacteria among other things.
Worse you gotta worry about in the showers in the truck stop is staph and athletes foot variations. Get yourself some shower shoes and keep your feet clean and off the floors in public showers. You'll be good to go.
I do have shower shoes! Also warm wet environments like shower rooms incubate a whole lot more than staph and athletes foot 🤮🤮
but I definitely am aware that crazy dangerous things exist in untreated water. Sometimes emotions are irrational, and being more afraid of human borne diseases is just a weird quirk for me that I cant seem to shake
@@Emma-and-BusBus I worry about athletes foot more than any of them 😅 the rest are all secondary fears lol if I see water that I think is swimmable, I'm goin in lol.
That meal was delicious. 🐏💨
oh noooo the mice in the walls thing is definitely gonna become a nightmare thing for me now
Oh god Im so sorry I took it to an extreme 😞 someone else commented about mothballs, cinnamon and peppermint oil keeping lil dudes out of the car and Im def gonna try that
@@Emma-and-BusBus I doubt it'll actually be an issue honestly. But I definitely relate to noticing every single little sound in the van as I drive it lol I have a squeaky belt right now that just gives me so much anxiety because the van is 99k miles. I'm still building it but I'm still excited even though I have lots of anxieties.
To help relieve some of your animal anxiety, DO NOT COOK & EAT near your car. All the smells will attract animals (from mice to bears) that you don't want to encounter. The simplest solution is to drive down the road a mile, cook, eat, clean up - then return to your campsite. As a medical professional I hope you will take more seriously your dietary issues, good luck. You might try meditation for some of the other anxieties and stimulations to help diminish their effects. I wish you the best.
Hey Emma, why dont you have Patreon? Im sure a lot of us would like to support you, including me, specially if you keep making content.
Honestly my channel only started doing well fairly recently and I don’t know what I would put on a patreon if I were to make one! Lol i have no idea what Im doing yet but thank you for the suggestion! Its helpful to know what you would like
If youd like to support in any extra way my only outlet for that at this time is my paypal that is linked
Braver then me,, I have gone camping with my girlfriend and come across people that made me feel uncomfortable, I did not like the feel of the situation at all, I think me being a male was the only reason we got out of there unmolested, But I am actually a transman so if they had of called my bluff we could of had a nightmare. Seeing woman alone like this fills me with dread, men are so fricken strong and it just takes meeting the wrong one at the wrong time.
THIS 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 one is never completely safe! thank you so much for empathizing.
If you’re serious, you’re neurotic about health. Sounds like anxiety. Laugh about it but don’t mistake it for being normal and understand that it will limit your life . I don’t say this out of judgement, I say it as someone who struggled with anxiety for years and then finally resolved it. when I did I realized how much it limited my life. Don’t be me.
You're doing the right things.
Goblin mode?
kinda the same as zoomies
Learn to meditate and all thought problems will go away
Dang girl, I think you should pursue something working in the national parks! You just LIT the F up when talking about nature! Don't go back to the hospital and be around sick and dying people.... as a caregiver I know it ain't all that. You'd probably love something in the natural or environmental sciences...
why why why do they have to talk in a monotone uptalk????!!!! cant bear to listen
You need a man like me to be with you
😂😂😂 nah she’s good
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂, did you watch her last video? She doesn't need no man ♂️
