A big 'thank you' to all the service personnel to served in the military helping keep this country free. No thanks to all the domestic enemies, radical judges, and people like Obama.
I remember singing this song, in the fall of 1969, when I entered the third grade. Our class had a record, and it was a little bit more "upbeat." Brings back many fond memories. 1969..... wow.... that was four decades ago. Where did all the time go?!?!?!?
WE ARGUE AND DISLIKE SO EASILY AND LOOK WHAT WE HAVE. THESE SOLDIERS FIGHTING FOR OUR RIGHTS NOT CARING WHO LIKES OR DISLIKES US. THANK YOU FOR THOSE WE LOST AND THOSE STILL FIGHTING MAY GOD BE AT YOUR SIDE EVERY MINUTE AND THANK YOU YOU ARE IN MY EVERY DAY PRAYER
That was brilliant. This song always makes me so proud to be an American and those pictures remind me of what a beautiful country we share. God bless the USA!!
When the phrase "In God we trust" was first used by the US government in 1864, it was only put on coinage. The Pledge of Allegiance was written in 1892 ("One nation under God"). These were both well after the writing of the Constitution. The First Amendment begins:"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion." Thomas Jefferson, in his personal correspondence with the Danbury Baptist Association, supported a "wall of separation between church and state."
This is a patriotic song. It was written in the agony of The Great Depression and it expresses that feeling in the last verses. It also expresses hope that the American Dream still lives.
This song was meant to be a protest song against what America had become, not a national "feel good" song. Thank you for posting the rest of the lyrics Konform2zoidberg.
God bless America! That doesn't matter who is president, main thing is that all of us are AMERICANS!
GOD BLESS AMERICA !!!!!!!!!!!
I AM SO THANKFUL TO BE LIVING IN THIS COUNTRY!!!!
"America is great because she is good. If America ceases to be good, America will cease to be great." - Alexis de Tocqueville
