Speaking as a huge Ron Holland supporter, I personally don't understand why Detroit would go with another uber-athletic defensive wing who can't shoot after Ausar has shown his potential as a key piece of their team going forward. They really need 3-point shooting more than anything else to help their absolutely horrendous spacing, and while I believe Holland has the potential to improve as a shooter, it's just not going to make Cade's job any easier with him and Ausar in the lineup together

Detroit would not sign Ron Holland, they already have a list of players that can not shoot. Ron Holland imo will be drafted after top 5 due to he can not shoot.
All these comments make complete sense and sound like they're coming from informed Piston fans. I think ideally Detroit would like to parlay their top 5 pick into BI or LM or MB.
Whatever wing they can land moving draft capital and a player or 2 already on the roster.
Of course Cade being the only untouchable Piston
I don’t see why Detroit would take Holland tbh. Not doubting his talent, but Detroit needs to draft for fit atp, especially if they’re not gonna trade any of their core young players. Having Holland next to Ausar and Duren is just asking for trouble tbh

Risacher is terrible, just trade Duren and Ivey and take Sarr. Duren can't defend a cone and Ivey plays like he contracted CTE. Trade both and draft Sarr.
I love Monty but how is it possible he is returning? Except the pay check.
The Ron Holland glaze is crazy, if you don't have Sarr going 1 then its automatically invalid. And as a Hornets fan this is a bad move, we need height/ hornets are undersized team right now and we need scoring ability that can get boards so I wouldn't mind Zaccharie or Matas, or if we want to go with a guard since Lamelo needs a better backup I wouldn't mind Rob

The critics are missing on that Knecht will immediately impact his team. In a mediocre draft he stands out as a changer. He is a big-time scorer, shooter and a big boy.
And a god awful defender. So bad he wouldn’t be able to get minutes to be able to immediately impact an actual good team.

i think this draft year is smart if a team who is let's say get the #1 or #2 pick, swap down a bit with another team for more draft picks in the future. For ex. in the 2017 draft, the celtics their #1 pick with the 76ers #3 in order to get a future 1st round pick as well.

Not sure about Toronto Raptors picking Risacher. They have like 8 Small Forwards who are more athletic then him in their bench. And they got Scottie Barnes who’s a natural SF.
Do you think he’s making impact as a starting PF? I think Boucher is better and more versatile than Risacher.
Edit: I think Toronto is more keen on a Point Guard since they recently waived Marquis Nowell (the Pure Point Guard from Kansas) to make contract space for Gouye (a SF) and a rebounder to come off the bench (since they have none). Risacher does neither to fill those needs. Just my 2 cents.
Portland taking Clingan is interesting, but your reasoning makes the opposite sense. “Ayton’s contract is too big to trade so he’ll be stuck in the team. Rob Will is too injury to prone so he’ll be stuck in the team”. Ah yes the solution is to draft Clingan so that we another Onongwu situation but worse as if RobWill is healthy Clingan will be 3rd string but at a higher pick.

If Cody Williams can become something close to Brandon Ingram, I’d like him on the Bulls.
I’d like PatWill back, as well, but I think it’s time we as bulls fans accept that he’s much more on the Robert Covington end of the spectrum than he is on the Kawhi side. Which is fine. Covington has been a great modern role-player.
As a Spurs fan feels like we need shooting more than playmaking and length. We were top 5 in league in assists per game as a whole, someone like dillingham to stretch the floor and shot create feels perfect fit - but like the mock overall and can kinda see the vision
Yeah agreed they need shooting and perimeter defense. I hope they can get (in no particular order) castle, holland, Williams, rob, reed, risacher
Honestly, I feels like this draft is too bad to pick primary handler who could set the foundation.
As you mantioned, spurs needs shooter for spacing but facillitator who breaks zone defense and makes fast decision to implement motion offense is also important.

Dillingham will be a point guard in the NBA for sure. Playing him off ball wastes what he does. Elite with the ball in his hands. I think/hope he ends up with the spurs.
defense and shooting is a premium in the nba right now. those things that nikola topic don't have and reed sheppard have. I like sheppard for the spurs.

Overrated shot, mediocre burst, doesnt add spacing to Detroit, Matas is better at everyting he does.
I follow the Pistons. Duren is bad, Ivey regressed, just pick Sarr. He's gonna fit well with Cade right away, even if he can't shoot. Cade makes any big who can jump and catch lobs look good on offense.
As a bucks fan I don’t like the Tristian De Silva pick as all. We either need a SG with Malik Beasley being a FA or we need a C with Brook’s age. I don’t see the hype behind De Silva, only team I see taking him in the first is the Celtics at 30.

Holland over Sarr is crazy! I love Holland too but no way he goes over Sarr! Detroit would be smarter to trade back if they’re not sold on Sarr.

Detroit needs to trade back and pick the best shooter available even if they can only get a couple seconds or off load some money.
I could see Holland going 1st but not to Detroit. They are desperate to start winning with Cade and drafting a guy who needs multiple years to develop probably doesn’t appeal to them

"Who has the Most Star Potential?" Definitely not Ron Holland. Yeah he will be a good slasher with good Defensive upside, but that's it.
Sarr, Topic and maybe Dillingham has the most Potential in this Draft Class.

Dropping lower in a weak draft class means millions of $$$ more in cap flexibility for very little to no loss in seen potential on newly drafted players especially since everyone in the Top 15 is essentially the exact copy and paste of the other draft candidates in regards to their ability and player archetypes.

no they dont. Celtics should get another center in case porzingis gets injured. Someone that will be better than luke kornet. Its a mistake for the celtics to pick ryan dunn because dunn has no offense & given how deep the celtics are, he will never get the minutes and chance to make mistakes on the offensive end. Dunn wont be able to develop his offense because the celtics are a win now team and cant afford for a rookie to make mistakes. They will just have him be a forward that plays defense but cant shoot or space the floor, thats bad. A forward that cant score will be exploited. Thats like having a mattiese thybulle. He is very comparable to him.

U traded Bojan your starting pf so why not draft another one and he has high upside. I'm not against it tbh.
The reason why it’s bad is because the pistons have been in poverty for a while and don’t have time to wait on more players develop their main issue is shooting adding holland don’t fix that and will only make the problems for the pistons worse and they won’t improve due to bad roster construction picking best player or high potential isn’t always the best move when those players can’t play next to each other

If they drafted for position they don't trade for sabonis, don't make the playoffs and the drought is still there.

Also let’s not act like the pacers are such a great team they are still a first round team at best they’re barely in a better position than the kings so the trade is more 50/50 because nobody was saying it was a L last year when the kings was the 3rd

Pacers have a high long term ceiling because of that trade.

@@paultizzard2864 the likelyhood of drafting a bust is higher when drafting for potential also the kings drafted for fit when they took Keagan Murray instead of Ivey which was the right decision
I understand the logic of drafting the potential but at a certain point you have to think about roster construction especially when you been tanking for 5 seasons a team like Washington can do that but not the pistons

Why would Detroit ever take Ron with the first pick. Why would Detroit take ANYBODY but Alexandre Sarr with the first pick. Duren is terrible at defense, just trade him and Ivey. Risacher is overrated and cant dribble, cant finish around the rim and isn't strong. He's a roleplayer. Alexandre Sarr is the only pick the Pistons should consider with the first pick.
