Everyone gets shocked that Mihrimah has accepted marrying Rüstem. Mahidevran takes an action to prevent the marriage since she considers Rüstem a danger for Mustafa. Meanwhile, Mihrimah regrets her decision. While she was dreaming of the power she'll gain thanks to Rüstem, she gets hit unexpectedly. Suleiman hears about "lazarlike" rumor about Rüstem. Seikh Maşuki reappears again and gets executed after he is judged. Mihrimah revenges on Malkoçoğlu who hasn't requited her love. In the meantime, Hürrem takes an action against Sultana Şah. Sultana Şah learns about her husband's betrayal for all hell break loose. Rüstem surivives Mahidevran's plot with an end-run. However, he falls into Sultana Şah's deadly trap.
The news that Mihriman and Rüstem will get married comes in the palace like a bombshell. The day that Rüstem has been dreaming of has come. He divorces Nigar without losing time. Even if Mihrimah regrets the sudden decision she has made getting angry, the die is cast. Everyone, especially Mahidevran, gets worried about the the power Rüstem will gain as son-in-law. Mahidevran sends a message that Rüstem is "lazarlike" to Suleiman to be able to prevent this marriage. Suleiman stops the preparations of the wedding. Malkoçoğlu goes on stringing Silvia along. However, he gets shocked because of Mihrimah's revenge game. Meanwhile, Seikh Maşuki comes back to the capital. He gets tried with his twelve disciples and gets executed. Hürrem is determined about driving a wedge betwee Sultana Şah and Lütfi Pasha. She throws the odalisque that she has sent for the Pasha to Sultana Şah. Sultana Şah get ragious after she learns about her husband's betrayal.
At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

Sumbul is one of my favorite characters. I love how he glides. You see his feet move but nothing else. It's as if he makes sure his shins don't touch his wardrobe.
The way Mahidevran walks, with her hands stangled in eachother in front of her, gives me Darth Sidious vibes. And Shah Huban, with her dress with the high collar, reminds me of Malificent.
The producers and scriptwriters really did unjustice to many historical characters.
From what is known it was Süleyman who chose Rüstem Pasha for his daughter, he trusted him as he was in his personal service for many years. The dynasty was stable and secure at the time so there was no need for a strong political marriage.
Hürrem on the other side was more in favor of a much younger Egyptian beylerbey but Süleyman was against it, he didn't like him and consider him appropriate for his daughter as he was supposedly a womanizer.
Mihrimar agreed to the marriage, although commonly Sultanas didn't have to agree, they were married off to whom ever the Sultan and/or Valide deemed appropriate.
Yeah also Their relationship was quite loving and respectful , Rüstem wasn't very old either he was around mihrimmah's age i think and they both developped a lot of affection towards each other so much that when rustem got sick mihrimmah summoned every single doctor she could think of and once he passed away she was so devastated and grief striken she cried for months and categorically refused any prospect for a new husband
