For, as a bloke, I would always look away, or run, firstly. In fact, I couldn't even watch my own countryman, Joe Calzaghe beat Jeff Lacy to a pulp. That was so, awful. Yet, you might want to look at that 2006 bout. However, do note, I can't do it. Lastly, you are a star!

  • @dcinsc

A little something to understand about Boxing and MMA. MMA uses smaller padding in their gloves. They want you to knock each other out because it's faster and more exciting. On the other hand, it is also safer in terms of repeated blows that cause head trauma. You don't see a lot of MMA fights that go the distance (3-Five min rounds for 15 mins...its 5-Five min rounds for championships for 25 min total) when both guys are punching and connecting constantly. Boxing on the other hand, has heavier, thicker gloves that are meant to do less damage as to extend the fight longer (12..used to be 15 - three min rounds for 36 mins usually), so that people get a show. The problem with that is that people take a LOT more shots to the head that cause extended damage in boxing than they do in MMA. Repeated head shots are what is bad. Not brutal knockouts. What made Tyson amazing is even with those thicker padded gloves, he still knocked out guys at a better rate than most MMA fighters with smaller, thinner gloves. Power...is Power.

Ms. Jay, even though you stated that you contradicted yourself in that you don't like watching someone get knocked out, but you like watching boxing for the skill proficiency of the "sweat science". The real truth may lie in the fact that there's difference between the controlled violence of sports and real violence which can result in injury or death. Iron Mike was unbeatable until he went into mental health counseling and started taking medication. Mike's proficiency in boxing was driven by fear, low self-esteem, and rage. So, his fights were one to one, but four to one.

Getting punched in the face is strange. It's not so much that it hurts a lot, it's that it sort of rings your bell because your brain rattles a little. It's like you don't really feel it all that much if they hit you hard enough, but you definitely get a bit dizzy and your vision blurs. I imagine a slap to the face hurts "Stings" more than a full on punch. I've never been slapped but definitely have been kicked and punched in the face and head enough from years of martial arts to at least give a bit of an opinion on it.
edit for PS. Great video! I like your reactions a lot. Always have intelligent and well thought out opinions. Thanks for another great watch!

It gets deep into the mentality of Mike Tyson. Teddy was the very first trainer for Mike when he was just a kid and was fired from training him for putting a gun to Mike's head and threatening Mike's life when he was 16 for inappropriately approaching an underage girl in Teddy's family. The other person Teddy mentions in this interview is Cus Dematto who was the guy that discovered Mike Tyson and was his main trainer (Cus is a legendary trainer, who passed right before Tyson became the world champion)..Teddy was like Cus's main assistant trainer.

#6...He took a "dive" (meaning he threw the fight)...he, as did everyone else, knew that Tyson was going to destroy him anyway..it was no contest..the guy was basically a "tomato can" (a sub-par boxer that has no business being in the ring). It s even rumored that him and Tyson had a discussion the day before the fight determining when he would take a dive..Thats why you see him take out his own mouth piece out after he gets knocked down, he had no intention of getting back up..he just wanted the paycheck.......Tyson agreed to this fight so that other guy can get a decent pay check. I think that boxer, today, is in jail for murder of something like that.
