I cant wait to try this! Thanks!
Love that technique
Awesome!
Beautiful. I want to update my orange wood trim and doors in my house but kind of scared I will mess them up.
You gotta just go for it.
Looks good .. what was the lacquer for? If I want to do this on some beams but want them darker, I take it I would do several coats .. would i apply the lacquer to the last coat? How about cat and dog scratches .. how do you fill them in so the stain don't settle in the cracks making them more pronounced? Thanks for any replies.
The lacquer gives the final coat a satin shine. Not necessary I wouldn’t do multiple coats just a darker gel stain color
I wish you would show more the surface as you work on it.
Thank you great comment
Hi! So there was no dry time before spraying the laquer finish?
No dry time and the time of year was winter so it was still wet stain. They still look great. It’s been 4 years now
I really liked how your cabinets turned out. Just wonder what colour you used for gel stain? Thanks.
Thank you for the comment. I used minwax GelStain ‘Coffee’ color. Super easy and they hold up well. I did this video a few years back and the cabinets still look great.
@@BusyBeaver22 Thank you so much for your quick response. 🙏🙏🙏 I can’t wait to use this way for my honey oak cabinets. 😀
@@canada3163 or you could wait a few years for the styles to come back around hahaha. NO!!! The 90’s have got to go. Happy refurbishing
@@BusyBeaver22 😀😀😀
@@canada3163did you do this and how do you like it now? I’m in your situation last year!
Would this work on a shop bought kitchen unit what has sun fade ?
I would think so. Try a small area on the inside of a door or drawer to check
Hi! Can this work on laminate cabinets? And do I absolutely have to sand them?
Laminate is a type of plastic. I’m not sure you can stain laminate but if you want to try it start with the inside unseen area
"Sometimes I go both Ways" lmao
I caught that too! lol
What gel stain, lacquer, and tools are you using
All listed in the description
would this work on maple cabinets?
I’m sure it would. Try the inside of a door or drawer first
Did your oak cabinets have a shiny appearance like it had a finish ?
Yes they have a clear coat over the original honey oak stain. Just go right over it with the gel stain
Don’t you get crackle finish by putting lacquer over wet gel stain?????
Nope no crackle finish
I kinda figured you went both ways
Ohhhhh😂😂 got me. Hey if use this method on your cabinets throw up some video to show the results. I’d like to see some 😀
Really? Are you in third grade?
Um. You need to sand it first though because your finished product looks kinda patchy....but other than that...I needed to see gel stain in action🤔🙄😐I like this gel stain....aaaand you need to sand that first...patchy mcpatcherson....😐 ok thanks for the gel stain tutorial
Thank you for the comment. I appreciate your feedback 😃
