- On the 15th anniversary of its launch, this documentary follows Father Ted creators Graham Linehan and Arthur Mathews as they return to Craggy Island on a road trip across Ireland, taking them back to some of the key filming locations from the series.
Father Ted captured a specific Irish humour rarely seen on screen and its impact doesn't seem to have faded. The show is revealed as a product of a pair of ambitious writers, a brilliant cast and the gently confident producer Geoffrey Perkins, whose suggestion of turning a one-off mock documentary into a sitcom helped make it the much-loved show it is today.
Ardal O'Hanlon, Frank Kelly, Graham Norton and many others pitch in with their reminiscences of the show, the passion it inspired and their memories of the late, great Dermot Morgan. - Komedie
I love the bit where Ardal and Frank go into the house for a cup of tea, we see Dermot (as Ted) hightailing it away from the house, nice symbolism. RIP Dermot and Frank
8:45 "you little bollocks" always got me 😂
Its 2023 and it's still priceless, thank you for the memories :)
How I wish Dermot was still with us. He was one of the best. R.I.P.
Cup of tea? Awww go on! Best line ever. I love Pauline, just wish she would have participated in the documentary.
Father Ted is as funny today as it was when first aired, priceless & timeless !
colin puckle so true
And today
10 years on from your comment and not 1 thing has changed still an all time classic
Father Ted was a revelation in TV! Every actor and actresses in this series was absolutely brilliant! RIP Dermot Morgan! I really hope the actors in this series realize just how much of an impact they had on society.
Watching anything father ted related makes me want a cup of tea.
Go on then
Go on,go on,go on,go on,go on go on,go on, on,go on,go on,go on,go on,go on,go on,go on GO ON!

To hear the immortal words at around 5.20 of "Do you want a cup of tea"?, and then the second or two of thought from the Father Jack actor, and then hearing the wonderful " Ah go on" was quite spine tingling.
I think the wonderful Pauline Mclynn should have been there too, if only in respect to the writers who gave us this excellent warm show.
It's the strangest thing. Watching them return to the house and reminise about making the show, gave me a pang of the same sort bittersweet nostalgia as if I had returned to somewhere from my own childhood, decades later.
Graham and Arthur really did create something so special.
Jim Norton, you were fantastic as Bishop Brennan! My favourite character, even though you were only actually in a handful of episodes. I cried with laughter at your expression after you were kicked up the arse!
Bishop Brennan episodes are normally up there in fans favorite Father Ted episodes list and it's a testament to Jim's performances
when frank was in the car talking about going back to the house you can hear the fragility in his voice ....nostalgia is a powerful feeling
I had tears in my eyes
May father ted live on forever. My favourite show ever. R.I.P Dermot and Frank, thank you for the memories ❤
the brilliance of the sit com can't be described its Irish humour in its most pure and raw from! slainte
it's sad to see both Jack and Dougal in the car but Ted wasn't there :(
the brilliance of this comedy can't be described, its Irsh humour in its most pure and raw form! slainte! we love you Dermot
To believe he died after the last ever episode of heart attack u never know how long u have God bless
He dropped dead at his home during a dinner party with family and friends. The day before, he was filming his last scenes with Tommy Tiernan where both are dancing in the living room. They had to keep doing retakes of the same scene to get it right and Dermot was complaining of having pains in his chest. Frank Kelly revealed years later that Dermot was on Blood Pressure Tablets at the time. In a strange twist of irony, Both would die on February 28th 18 years apart of the same thing
Found this documentary, years after watching it. Had a tear in my eye, seeing Frank Kelly, and him no longer with us. This show was, and still is so valuable to everybody who has any sense of humour. My thanks go to everybody, that had any slight moment, in the making of this incredibly infinite show. 🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🥂🥂🥂🥂🍾🍾🍾🍾🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃🍸🍸🍸🍹🍹🍹🍷🍷🍷,"DRIIIIINK!!!!"
Your comment sums up my sentiments too Sean, well said buddy
Oh this is beautiful! It was so moving to see Ardal and Frank get out of the car there at the house.
Thank you SO much for sharing this with us!
It’s on the TV that often but I still find myself watching episodes that I’ve seen many times previously, comedy that will last a lifetime
Frank Kelly RIP
It’s moving seeing the flashbacks of Dermots scenes in between the other cast members meeting. RIP Dermot & Frank.
Jim Norton would fit so well into game of thrones, just has that look about him!
I can watch this wonderful series over and over again.
wow, i never thought watching anything father ted-related would ever actually be moving!
allisonforfornsed ‘I’m sure the lord himself paused for a nice cup of tea before giving himself up for the world’
Love this so much...it would be great if they’d make a series on father ted and Douglas in their early days leading up to their careers as priests.
lol at that Mrs Doyle impression @ 5:23
I called priest chatback the other day, I recommend it, its hilarious.
Wonderful and beautiful such amazing funny memories! Love love love father ted
Aww. thanks for these! I love them!!!
This is so nice but I did almost shed a tear seeing them rember it all when they re visited the house and remembering dermot and all their time together.
Thanks so much for uploading this.
There should be a revival/spin-off called 'Father Dougal' which is set years after FT and takes place in the same setting but Dougal is with a new young preist like Ted was and Dougal follows Ted's footsteps and his role, Mrs Doyle should still be around but have more screentime as well as Father Jack
3.00 am lying in bed trying not to wake the wife because of laughing watching FT
I used to start pissing myself laughing as soon as the title music started.
I still have them all on DVD 😂 and I grew up in a Catholic household 😂
Wonderful thanks for sharing........!!!!
arrgh why are they all passing away :( now i have to wait until the afterlife until i can see the next series!
@Beverlyhills71 'food' actors?? hahah...yi fecking eedjit!
0:53 It's so weird to see im smiling and laughing. 😂
Jim Norton what a wonderful voice, he makes Richard Burton sound almost child like , HA !.
"Are these your own buns" 😅 so seriously 😊
"I just I want to go to the toilet." Every episode has a character saying that.
Absolutely fantastic.
Would bring a tear to the eye
Love these videos
RIP Geoffrey & Dermot
I GREW UP WITH FATHER TED AND TILL MY LAST DAY ON EARTH I WILL BE A FAN
"Apres vous" and everything! It's so surreal!
Pauline McLynn said that this documentary was terrible in a recent interview. Not sure what her issue is as I still think its fantastic.
RIP Frank Kelly
That money was just resting in my account 😂
I was in the house last year...lovely people
AHAHAAA! 5:23 or so, the owner of the house... she's just PERFECT!
Rip father ted and jack Hackett
He did the dubbed voice of the Cuban priest in the Passion of St Tiblus.
The craic was mighty with this lot 😂
Brilliant...
It's brilliantly funny excellent script writing
0:25 - did he remain in character lol. Only joking - he was hilarious though.
He said he's not a versatile actor. He's like Ireland's answer to Ben Stein.
Careful now, down with this sort of thing.
You can recognise Ardal O'Hanlon but I totally missed Frank Kelly
The treatment of Graham Linehan since the show has been shameful
Graham Linehan's treatment of trans people since the show has been shameful.
He’s brought it on himself - a hate-filled transphobe who has such a moral & physical vacuum in his life that he stalks people on dating sites trying to shame them for just living their lives. He’s undoubtedly talented as f*** but a a sick, pathetic little man.
Well, he decided to be a lunatic bigot and couldn’t shut up about it, so that’s probably why. Poor Graham.
He made that bed himself.
Well…… It is a problem. Needs to be addressed not accepted. It will open a big old confusing can of worms. I don’t hate them and I accept people’s choices BUT we are heading for trouble…. There has to be a line I’m afraid.
In this documentary Ardal I notice with that beard is quite a good looking fellow.. I didn't see that in the show.. Oh my I must be turning gay
Not that there's anything wrong with that type of thing
Priest chatback! Genius

♡it!!! n Proud to admit it
"I hear you're a racist now Father? What's the church's position on this?"
Alternate Star Wars role, Jim Norton as Palpatine
haha good to see farther stone is as life-less as he was in the episode!
I know that, I just didn't know he'd died
Declan said about priests drinking tea for 4 or 5 hours reminds me of the pattern in ballymurphy
I think any Irish person growing up and being educated in Ireland at least up until the 90's will have stories and had some odd encounters with the religious community!
Ye tink he'd be taller Ted! 😲
The house is huge but it seems there were only 3 small bedrooms in it...
Does anyone know the name of the piece that's being played in the little clip of Ted and Doogle being pulled by the tractor?
Dies irae - Mozart
@@tojoinbobdylan I have since found that out, but thank you :)
@@1987metalhead thought to give it a shot in case it was still needed 😁
@@tojoinbobdylan I appreciate it, friendo. I try to do the same for others, if I don't see an answer.
Priest chat back 😂
I didn't know Geoffrey Perkins died :/
Fr Dick Byrne dislikes this video!
Oh Ya no stairs
Ahhh go on, a lovely cup of tea Father.. The real disappointment was the interior of the house, sadly, nothing like the show.
Jim Norton sounds quite English
03:33 :-) I lover Clare
08:19
Oh god I love being a priest.
No, I'm fine
Beyond hysterical humour sadly sadly sadly sadly missed because we are not allowed this anymore by the constabulary
A time before Graham decided to throw his family, life and reputation away. Very sad to see as he's changed nothing since.
No, Graham’s a Hero for women and girl. Grow up
Jesus Mary and Joseph, the ego on Fr. Jack,,,,,
feck!
Mrs Doyle would wanna get over herself.
Father jack is gas
Methane? Helium? Oxygen? 🤦
Jesus, hes more boring than father stone himself
Shame what Linehan's done to himself.
Standing up for women and children against the immeasurable harm done by the trans lobby you mean?
@@ruddyhell7800What harm? The people who are harming women and children are republican politicians, clergy and police pigs. Not trans people or drag queens lmao. Look at the statistics. Lineham is just a sad little man who has nothing to live for
Wow they finally got Father Jack into rehab....he looks well
