  • Hike up to Sticks Pass from Glenridding and onwards to Stybarrow and Watson’s Dodd.
Plan was to camp on Watson’s Dodd, but bailed due to wind and dropped back down to Sheffield Pike.
The hike and camp was as a group to raise £5k for Duddon and Furness Mountain rescue team.

Cracking video mate, we were up on Nethermost Pike, nice seeing the clag on your video from down below 🙈 enjoyed it mate, ATB 👌🏼

Thanks Callum. I’d have been fine on top but I made a bit of a selfish call tbh as it was obvious it was going to clag in looking towards the west. I’m guessing you guys couldn’t see a thing from about 9pm onwards!

Nice one Dave, definitely the right decision to drop down, weather definitely wasn’t the best but was a great weekend,

Anything with Pike or Crag in the name are usually quite interesting places I find.

Class vid mate - shame about the wind and cold but that’s the lakes for you. Had an awesome camp up on Watsons Dodd a couple of years back but it was 30degrees and not a cloud in the sky 😜😜

Yeah would have been cool if I could have had a wander around and have a chill out as the views were pretty good towards Skiddaw and Keswick.
I probably won’t go back though unless I decide one day to complete the Wainwrights, should have done Great Dodd whilst I was up there dammitt!

  • @Moffatmountainadventures

I must admit when I picked my summit I was factoring in a few things, great views, not too high in case the clouds dropped in and a high potential of a signal. You definitely sounded like you had way higher wind than we felt on ours. Great video bud. All the best

I should have done the same in retrospect! Having said that I changed from Pillar to Esk Pike, to Watson’s Dodd and ended up on Sheffield Pike so they got lower and lower!

@@boolay75 oh yeah, pillar would have been really exposed too. I had 30mph last time I was on that and it was brutal

I notice you mention hip pain, I take a small inflatable pillow for in between knees when side sleeping, worth a try, Im waiting for my new hip lol, had one done, Game changer for sure :)

Good video . Think I would of made the same choice . Sheffield Pikes a more interesting Fell anyway .

Yeah I love places like Sheffield Pike. Not really into huge grassy fells. Why I’ve always thought summit of Helvellyn is a bit overrated as well.

As I said on the chat safety first. Was a chilly night, I put my gloves on ⛰️🏕️🤣😁

It’s a strange one. If I’d have stayed at least I’d have been able to get in to wine a lot sooner 😂

@@boolay75I just went straight up, pitched and had some wine 🍷🤣
      Then got wrapped up 🤣😊

You took a tactical decision based on safety first. No need to ask the question.
