EASY TO REACH WILD CAMP LOCATION WITH AN EPIC VIEW.
Wild Camping location in the Buttermere area of the Lake District.
This small fell gives you amazing views for a very small amount of effort.
Unusually I pitched up early and just took it all in, giving myself plenty of time to relax ( though most of it was spent chatting to the locals who dropped by, they might even have got an olive or two off me if they were nice!)
Didn’t stick around for long on the morning, quick descent for a coffee and a bacon sarnie. Really enjoyably camp 😀⛰️

Love that area I haven’t been around Buttermere for a couple of years now. I remember camping up there, needed to bag it as i wainwright, beautiful spot but was kept awake until early hours with a local farmer hay bailing in a field near by and going up and down that road below in his noisy tractor 🚜 😢 When you was using the DJI Mic was that via bluetooth or with the receiver plugged in? the mic definitely cuts out nearly all the wind noise. I can’t decide whether to just buy the mic or mic/receiver combo. 🤔 ATB Karl 👍

It was a cracking camp. To be honest I only went up as I couldn’t get WiFi in the pubs in Buttermere, and needed a signal, but very glad I did anyway 😀 It’s the DJI mic 2 mate that connects via Bluetooth. Looking at this myself. The only thing that puts me off to be honest is the inside height (not, strangely, the price). I'm also considering the cheaper option of the Terra Nova Pioneer, or poss the Wechsel Exogen 2, which is a better suited to the non winter months . I'm 65 and I've had enough of crawling around trying to get dressed in low tents. It will primarily for solo use and Cycle touring with the occasional mountain trip in good weather.

Loved the cooking in a tent section. Very impressive. I'm seriously debating buying the Pioneer 2 as a Year round Bikepacking and Backpacking tent. The concerns I have from reading reviews are 1. the inner is too flappy? 2 The corner pegging points are not very good! 3, You get a lot of condensation! 4. I also concerned it might be too warm for summer camping ( This is a major reason for getting rid of my current tent + its tiny). What are your thoughts? what do you think are it's strengths and weaknesses. I was also looking at the more expensive Fjallraven ABISKO Lite 2 which I noticed you also have. How does that compare with this tent.

Hello mate. The Pioneer 2 is a really good all rounder. It’s got its pros and cons as you’ve mentioned. I’ve not really had any issues with it apart from when you pitch it can be a slight faff, you’re right there’s something a bit odd about the corners. In comparison the abisko is a far better tent and worth the extra money if you can get the b grade option that I’ve got. Appreciate it’s £150 more but the quality, ease of pitching and options mean it’s worth it for me.

Hiya mate, I think you’ve hit the nail on the head with the views and ease of access, talk about 360° views !!! Them drone shots really showed off the area !! The bare feet are defo a game changer, everything you mentioned and the pack ability of them Nice one for the shout out to,I think we’re on 92 summits with £3200 raised with a month to go, so we’re looking good, I’ve just given you a sub, I thought I already was though. You should be ok. Thankfully it’s not one of the “hotspots”. If you were unlucky though, you could always push on a little bit further up to Lingmoor Fell which should also have some places to put a tent.

i actually just did my first trip very similar to this. it was in Conwy a couple weekends ago. fuuuucking miserable looool! rained the entire time and the wind was insane but people have asked if i would do it again...ive said 100% yes. i learned alot during my trip and i think it was great to be smacked in the face by the weather on my first time to really see how much i liked it or did not like it.

It’s a pretty unique feeling when you’re out there. Getting out in some bad weather can be surprisingly fun, it’s all good experience at the end of the day!
