Perfect Luggage Racks for the Yamaha Tenere 700

  • In this video I cover what I think is the most cost effective luggage rack setup for the Yamaha Tenere 700. I had installed a Tusk tail rack and needed to find a pannier rack that would mate up to it and keep the bike narrow. I settled on the Motoes pannier rack coming out of Turkey. The total cost for my luggage setup was less than the cost of some of the tail racks out there. It is effective for rackless luggage and also standard pannier bags for you motorcycle journeys.

    Hi Matt, great recommendation. I ordered the Motoes combi pannier plates & rear rack £260 from Motoes Turkey. Arrived in 5 days to Derby UK. Took 20 mins to fit,super strong, colour matched in blue. They look great. Perfect fit 2022 T7. Great quality- highly recommend. Mike

    Those look great on the bike Matt. I certainly recomend you take a look at the Rhinowalk bags. They appear to be on sale every holiday. You may be able to get the 48L set for the $129 I paid on Black Friday. - Frank

    I have the side and top rack. Had issues mounting the top rack as one of the attachment points didn't line up. Had to go to a welder and cut the rack, realign and reweld it and then paint it. Motoes refunded me $150 for my trouble. Other than that well made, light and work great.

    Great video, may I ask why you changed your exhaust? To protect the frame in case you go over? Is it a weight savings? Curious too how it sounds.

    • @advmatt
      @advmatt  Před 5 měsíci

      I changed the exhaust to save the frame and swing arm because the stock exhaust is known to bend inward on a fall. Here is a link the video I did on it. It should answer all your questions. czcams.com/video/d0r00J9wsiY/video.htmlsi=Fyg0hIerTVuxK3y0

    How are the edges of the laching point are they rounded ? Any sharp edge to the side rack that could damage the straps ?

    • @advmatt
      @advmatt  Před 6 měsíci

      All of the edges are rounded. I didn't find any sharp edges. It was made really well.

    What luggage system are you going to use with this setup?

    Hey Matt, do you feel there is anything the T7 does that the 390 can’t? I had a T7 and I was not particularly impressed with the road manners (mainly related to side gusts and wind buffeting). I am toying with adding a 390 as my more road worthy addition to my WR250R but you sort of went the other way (adding the T7 as the “road” bike)? Curious on any thoughts. Cheers,

    • @advmatt
      @advmatt  Před 8 měsíci +1

      That is a hard question to answer directly because I was replacing my BMW R1200GS with the T7. The 390 Adv gets blown around on the road more than the T7 does. I have had days of riding directly into head winds up hills and the 390 Adv struggled to maintain road speeds. While I was living on the East Coast the 390 Adv was really fun to ride and I never wanted more power. Now that I am back out west where it takes days to get anywhere instead of hours I appreciate the extra power the T7 offers. I think it depends on where you ride and what type of road riding you do. I have ridden the 390 Adv all over the place and only wanted more power a few times. I plan on doing some big trips next year and I am going to test these two bikes head to head on long trips to see which is better. The 390 Adv is much better for me to ride offroad due to its light weight, so when I am doing offroad riding I know which bike I will take. Hope this helps. Cheers.

      I don’t know what it was, but I got blown around on the T7 like no other bike I have owned (8 total). My WR does better from a wind management perspective. I am in Oregon, and mainly do BDR style riding. I would like to add one bike that is a little more road bias (keeping the WR) but still able to complete BDR’s, etc. The new Himalayan and CF Moto 450 are also interesting. Thanks again,

    • @advmatt
      @advmatt  Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@twowheeledadventures5615 well, based on your location and riding BDRs the 390 Adv is a good bike for that.
