Here's a good rule of thumb (and don't take this the wrong way!): famous people are out there busing being famous. They're not roaming through CZcams comments, randomly messaging people. One of the ways this scam works is that they get your personal info and then contact someone you know, pretend to be you, and ask for money to help "you" out of an emergency (jail, bail, accident, kidnapping, etc.) It happens more than you think. You did the right thing, the minute you get that weird feeling either start asking questions or just block them. Take it from me, a non-famous person! Stay safe, Lindy!

It happens on Facebook all the time. Any post where they say mark each thing you have or haven't done are ways to get information on you. It is information that can be used to figure out passwords, etc, to access your bank, credit, etc.

Yes, I remember when I was contacted by my first famous celebrity. I bragged about it to everybody until I found out it was just a scam. Very disappointing. I met a lady at the laundromat, she claims George Straight is doing the same with her and she's in love with him, he is in love with her, but she won't believe it is a scam.
I saw an interview the other day with an older woman who believes that Keanue Reeves is in love with her and is in desperate need of gift cards, so she keeps sending the gift cards. Unbelievable.

Be careful NOT TO OPEN emails saying that a package is on the way...another scam!!! Also if buying a gift card of any sort....DONT BUY OFF THE RACK. Tell the employee you want one that has been locked up and not on display rack. People have been scanning the ones that are out there. And once they are purchased and activated they can use them without you even being aware. So again please do not buy a gift card that is on a display. Hi Lindy, thank you for this informative video. When I read a suspicious comment to me I flag that comment to bring it to the attention of the creator. I commented on Chrome's channel from Vancity Vanlife about the best thing i did after my husband died was to do a solo roadtrip. It was not too long after I made that comment that I got a reply to it from "Chrome" to contact him via telegram I think it was. But something just did not quite look right so I flagged the comment reply. It was not long after that that Chrome made a video stating that he would never request us to contact him . If he wants us to contact him he would do the request in a video. The scammers really irritate me. Happy trails and safe journeys and be blessed

I often get a random guy making a comment on one of my fb posts . They go on and on about how i impressed them. They are usually good-looking, widowed , retired military. Ya, right 😅😅😅 !!! Yep I had them on facebook trying to tell me that I'm beautiful while they send me a photo of someone who is way to young for me. So, I put up a photo of my dog and asked if she was beautiful too. Yes they said, can I contact you. I said, why? so that you can talk to me for a month, confess your love and then ask me for money? lol no response and never spoke again. Yeah like I didn't know all the tricks. Not once have I ever been tricked into anything remotely like this, I'm well aware that this world is full of scammers and the internet makes it possible for them to reach you.
On another note you can have fun with them and waste their time.

I’ve been getting comments like this for years. Whenever I comment on a famous persons posts or videos, a scammer shows up. I never respond. By the way, I wouldn’t be “star struck” over Kid Rock. 😆😂😆

I recently received a $750,000 check from a real company. I COULD have deposited into my account…. It would have taken several days before the forgery was caught.

I worked at a bank so I know that scam, a legit company has some stolen checks/forgery but the company also has outstanding checks that need to be paid, so the bank leaves the checking account open and monitor it daily to reject the stolen checks but paid the good ones so it’s possible the forgery can show as paid but later rejected
I had this happen to me a couple years ago. I commented on a song by Roger Hodgson, lead singer of Supertramp. It was one of his solo albums. So, “Roger” said something like he was just getting in touch with some of his fans to thank them. For 2 seconds I was ecstatic. Then I clicked on his profile and he had zero videos, zero songs, maybe 5 subscribers. It was a scammer. I ended up removing my comment from the video.
It’s funny because I don’t think Kid Rock needs money. I guess he might want you to donate some to “A good cause”. I used to believe everything from everyone! Thanks for this important video. 😆

This scam happens many places. I had an old “friend” on FB that seemed to change accounts. Then she started messaging me asking personal questions but she never answered the simplest question I asked (how/where/when did we meet). Just tell me when. As in elementary school, middle school, high school, college, work… nope but she wanted me to tell her about my household. She got blocked…
Something similar happened to me, not here on CZcams but instagram, I was watching some reels (short clips) and I gave a heart to one of an actor that I like his work and days later I got a message from someone posting as the actor, would send me long nice messages and when I answered him and told him I didn’t believe it was him, I made him send me a voice message to prove it was the actor and of course the voice gave him away, I reported him with instagram and they closed his account, I am sure he probably opened another one but at least I took him out of circulation for a bit. In all our prayer groups we get Whatsapp people to donate to an orphanage. They said "God told me He would save you if you donate to our orphanage" isn't that terrible? Also got scammed by a fake PayPal account. Be careful everyone, they are EVERYWHERE! God Bless you all.💕🙏
If you watch financial channels like Dave Ramsey, there are scammers who post comments like "I have $200,000 to invest but I don't know who I should contact to make my money grow". Others will reply that they need to contact a certain person as it worked for them. Then they'll be more comments from others backing it up. If you click on their channels to see who they, you'll see no channel content. It's all a scam. Be careful out there.

Rule of thumb for all:
Famous folks are not going to be reaching out, or communicating with us for any reason. They just aren't.
Exactly strange men make contact from facebook and beg to friends I said No thxs to 3 or 4 of scammers.

I don’t have a channel, but many, many times people have reached out to me on the comments I put on someone else’s channel. Wanting to get to know me. I NEVER respond, I delete them if I can. They are just scammers.
