    I don’t think I have ever saw an aftermarket ecu company grow at this rate. That says something about the product. I haven’t gotten my hands on one yet but I will say that have f the ecu and dash together is a genius thought. Keep up the good work fueltech!

      Putting the ECU in the dash cluster also eliminates a lot of wiring. I think because of how good electronics have gotten in general with size and all would make it easier to get away with this today. With data buses getting rid of a lot of extra wiring also.

    Compound turbo systems are on the rise! It makes alot of sense especially in a street application because you could have high boost with out the lag.

    • @Me-fj8sb
      @Me-fj8sb Před 5 lety +2

      True, but is more complicated than that, you have 2 turbos, 1 is a high pressure the one is bolted to the exhaust manifold and low pressure that's bolted to a base, in order to make the high pressure feed the low pressure it takes some fabrication, redirecting the exhaust gases from high to low and boost from high to low, but yes in the diesel motors this system is being used for decades, caterpillar c13 and c15 are compound turbos from factory

    • @Me-fj8sb
      @Me-fj8sb Před 4 lety +2

      @@jayknight139 that's a good question, the only thing I can think that will prevent that from happening is space, normally compound are installed in inline engines like Cummins or a single side manifold, duramax and powerstroke are V8 but this are full size pick up trucks and the have plenty of space and when they finish installing the compound there's no space at all, in a car is way more tight and more attachments, but in a race car is possible depending on the engine and chassis setup, but the main reason for compound is to develop tons of torque, there's 6.7L Cummins on dodge rams that can make over 2,500 hp and over 3,000 pounds of torque

    • @AndersonDick
      @AndersonDick Před 5 lety +1

      The 88 as single would not make more than 60psi of boost and will be over 100k rpm already which increases back pressure by a lot. The 106 can't be used as a single on a 13B because it will surge really bad, typically a 94mm is already entering surge already.

    • @pmreng
      @pmreng Před 5 lety +2

      Has the 106 been tested? My guess no... The 106 will surge at high PR and low shaft rpm speeds. There are ways to configure the turbo and setup to achieve the desired boost levels without surge. Compound turbocharging is desirable at extremely high boost levels but it is terribly inefficient due to the design of the centrifugal compressor wheel. It's just no good a higher pressure ratios and the higher you go it just becomes terribly inefficient regardless if it's compound turbocharged or not. Better going 106 for 80psi and compound once you can't get a bigger either turbo to achieve the desired boost....

      Yes I agree, it works great for rotaries, both turbos have big exhaust wheels yes and could be even larger. Gtx5533r gen 2 88 with a 1.00 will be replaced by a 1.24 and the GTX5544r 106 has 1.40 A/R and worked great.

    • @AndersonDick
      @AndersonDick Před 5 lety +3

      There multiple ways of doing it, the decision of not using an intercooler was because weight savings and unlimited boost, as well fuel atomization gets improved by hotter air.

      Correct but adds weight to the car and can be compensated by a few more pounds of boost, but like I said, this is a project decision and really few people have tried all the possibilities to find the most effective one.

      @@Be4tJumper nah, its about getting both turbos in their efficiency range and a lot of it has to do with pressure ratios, compressor maps, and not turning a turbo into a hair drier. For example, rather than boosting the atmospheric ~15psi of air pressure to 90 psi of boost pressure with one turbo (a pressure ratio of 6) and causing a variety of issues, you can use 2 turbos. One turbo (maybe 2 for even more airflow, like diesel dragsters and tractor pullers) to boost the atmos. 15 psi to 30 psi, a pressure ration of 2, and then a second (or third turbo for diesels) to boost that 30 psi to 90 psi, a pressure ratio of 3. Look into diesel compound turbos or the high performance academy videos on the 2000whp+ 4 cylinder dragsters. Of course, there's a whole lot more to it than I mentioned, its a science. czcams.com/video/0jN2ExOW4J4/video.html He goes into a cool tech talk about turbos about 2 minutes in. Hope I helped you.
