    Oh my god it is so hard to wait for Pt. 3. This Burma build is perfect for my Seraphon army. The only different thing I'm going to do is add some colourful, vibrant plants to break up the green and give it a more fantasy look.

    Hi Mel just found your channel great many thanks, have learnt a great deal in a couple of days.
    You are probably aware but hot melt glue is great for fasishing tree roots.
    Fix as normal, when dry, pipe the glue from the trunk to the base, one cleaned and painted they look good.

    I really liked this video. So much more relaxed and... you. I understand the reasons for the Lets Make rush thru, but these kinds of videos are much funner to watch. One thing the audience needs to know to understand the terrain... what is the movement rate of infantry in B.A.? That will determine the spacing of the cover. Looks wonderful Mel!

    Not sure how I feel about nice smelling terrain. Hm. Too used to the the semi-intoxicating whiff of strong solvents and adhesives, maybe? I LIKE, the herb mix. Looks cool. Maybe if I used febreze or something?
    I tend to favour square foamboard as a base to keep it in line with my board edges, never liked circular bases for terrain, but I like what you've put together, blends well. Where do you hunt for the grassy foliage? Any favourite shops to check out? I shop online but I rarely find good bargains.

    Seems better to add the foliage first, I'd be cautious with the watered down pva afterwards on the final step. The spray bottle/airbrush seems better but won't work if foliage is first.

    Fantastic looking so far Mel.I do have a suggestion I'm not sure if the Burmese used them or not but adding some Punji Pits might be pretty neat to add as a way to block movement but not Line of Sight. Or maybe add a few huts to add some flavor. Just a thought

    Nice terrain, do you gonna make some streams/paths through the jungle? That could add interest to the table(do i go fast and in column or slow and deployed?) The sides of the paths could be a good place to put linear clumps of bamboo. Is just an idea.

  • @radred609
    @radred609 Před 7 lety +3

    Great work and loving the progress.
    really enjoyed the "compromise" between removable and permanent foliage. to enable troop movement inside the cover but still limit it slightly (in addition to whatever terrain rules an individual system may have) which is particularly nice in a dense jungle theme.
    Is this planned to be for bolt action? Any chance we can see some games played on the board when you're done!?
    Oh, and do you plan to spray the plants with a matt clear coat before giving them a quick wash like in the earlier tutorials, or just rely on the wash to remove the plastic-y shine? you probably won't need it to hold down your "flock" since you've already cured it with the pva and the wash, but i've found that it helps the wash hold better on the plastic and it never really hurts to give an extra layer of protection :)
    I promise this will be the last question, but di you have any plans for water features? Not necersarily rivers, but what about swamps or marshy areas?

    • @TheTerrainTutor
      @TheTerrainTutor  Před 7 lety +2

      It is for BA and no doubt we'll have a couple of live games on the channel when we do. I'm planning on using matt medium with a brown wash for the plants but all the pieces are going to get a hit with matt varnish anyway, so it'll get handled one way or the other mate. I've got loads planned for the build including rivers, swamps, mangroves etc mate

      If you look at some of Mel's older videos, there are lots of ideas for different sizes of terrain and you should find something that you would like to give a try. Mel has done dozens and dozens of videos where he assumes the viewer is a beginner like you ( and me too ) and takes you through stage by stage until you have the finished terrain that you wanted. Check out some of his playlists on this subject, you won't be disappointed. Have fun Aleksandr,
