  • Adobe Firefly AI brings amazing new functions. In my review of their Live Stream Announcement I show you what it can do. AI Vector Generation, AI Template Generation, AI color transfer, AI image combination, AI Text Generation. Adobe created some really smart ways to use AI in a professional Workflow. The Firefly AI will be integrated into the Adobe Products, so it can be easily used with Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator and more. Also Adobe Firefly is Commercially Safe and trained on images that Adobe owns, has a license to or are public domain.

      @@OlivioSarikasThe question is whether or not they “owned” the images they used to train the models because of switching from Adobe desktop apps to Adobe cloud based apps where all their customers were uploading their creations and/or making them available to Adobe for their AI models to scan and learn from or not. The terms of service for many of these services has long been written in a way that would allow them to “own” your creations to the extent necessary to train AI models on while not being able to sell the works themselves, all while using them to create a product that can make a duplicate of your work without compensating you for it.
      Some of these models have generated images that are so alike to someone’s original copyrighted works that the generated images even contained the original artist’s signature in their generated output. That’s problematic for artists, even if AI is actually a legitimate tool that can be used to create original art that does respect copyrights.

That being said I've used Adobe products professionally since 1992 especially PS. If Adobe puts a MJ type interface into PS or other graphics programs that will be a game changer and a major "upgrade". It will be amazing to work with.
    Regarding Adobe training their AI on "their" images so it's now (totally) legal: That is pure and unfiltered nonsense. How many artists and photographers do you think knew Adobe was using their work to train their AI over the past 10 years especially the artists and photographers who put their work on CC storage and extaspecially (I made that word up) on Adobe Stock and only got paid 33 CENTS on the dollar? THIRTY THREE CENTS!🤬 I would bet Zero %. So while it may be legal for Adobe to generate these AI images it certainly was not with their overwhelming disclosure and with approval of the artists and photographers (one in the same) they scraped. I'm all in favor of AI imaging but let's not make Adobe out to be the Messiah by legally referencing/training Firefly on "their" images.🤮🤮🤮

All my young Gen X artist friends said “don’t tell anybody i use Photoshop!”
    Adobe has seen this exact same outrage before. They have history to tell them which horse to back.
    Adobe (and art) are both gonna be just fine. And while the haters scream and cry into their 40s, then 50s, the generations younger are going to call them out of touch.

    Some of this doesn’t sound quite right the way you described it, at least the way most image AI’s work. I don’t think they are making vector images. I think they must be bitmaps that they are then “vectorizing”. This is technology they already have for outlining. The way deep learning AI works they are just picking the next pixels that should appear in the image - this can not produce vectors. Same with their templates. They are combining other technologies to do this. But still very cool. What will DiVinci do?

    • @user-wv1in4pz2w
      @user-wv1in4pz2w Před rokem

      they might indeed be vectorizing, but they seem to be doing it in a smart way by, probably, generating a bunch of layers and making each a group.

      I'm describing the result, not the process. Their own Video says it's a Vector output. Also: AIs don't create images, the vae decoding turns it into images. Before that it's latent information. And i see no reason why there shouldn't be a AI that can turn latent into vector

    • @ontheruntonowhere

    Adobe are imo the biggest threat to open source art tools, and to artists who aren't wealthy.
    I'm all for companies building and selling tools. But adobe is so bad about buying up tech and locking it away to force you to rent, not own, their services that they have a chilling effect on the software industry. Boycotting them as an artist is almost as difficult as boycotting google as a person who wants to use the internet. Monopolies should be resisted.

      @@OlivioSarikas The overlap is that they purchase tools ,many of which were open source, and then close source them. It's legal, but not at all cool.
      Just like it's legal to charge a monthly fee that ends up costing far more than if things were available for a one time purchase. but also not cool. Art should be open to everyone, not just those who can afford hundreds of dollars a year for one silly feature that some company has decided to work hard to make sure no one else can reproduce.

    • @ontheruntonowhere
      @ontheruntonowhere Před rokem

      @@jameshughes3014 There's no lack of competing open source tools out there for artists to use. They're not always as slick but they do exist. If you want quality, sometimes you have to pay for it. Regarding the subscription model, you're not just getting static software; you get rolling updates and new features, plus related software included in the bundle. Other licensing models exist so if Adobe isn't for you, you're free to shop elsewhere, but the subscription works great for a lot of people. True artists must suffer anyway. Their art is better than mine because they have to struggle with a ridiculous UI some generous soul created in their off time.

I doubt its going to make any artist already mad at AI less so. Its limited training data set while hopefully more ethical, also makes it much harder to use for varied cases without good proficiency in the AI. A good artist is likely to just draw it themselves at that point or use the generation for reference.

      Doesn't matter about the haters. They will get left behind. They are vocal now but will become less and less relevant. Their days are marked and they know it which is why they are crying so loudly.
      What this Adobe does is get professionals onboarded faster as pros don't have time to work out the workout of a less than ideal interface such as Automatic1111 along with the concerns of data of unknown provenance. At least until the courts decide on the matter.
      Adobe knows this is the future and has been doing "neural" tools for some time. I laugh at history repeating itself regarding the progress of tech and the effect on creatives. We adapted when Photoshop and graphics tablets hit the scene, and other digital tools that many whined about as not having 'soul' and the human touch. If people want to continue doing things the way they are doing them now, that is their choice and more power to them, but if they think they will be just as in demand and be able to compete with those taking advantage of advancing technology then nobody can be blamed but them if things don't go their way. Adapt or die the saying goes.
