- This is an excellent project for even a novice woodworker. Nearly any one of any skill level can complete this project with just a few simple tools. Digital plans for this build can be found at www.foleywoodworking.com
This version of the Easy DIY Garden Tool Rack was designed specifically to fit both my tools and the space I store my garden tools. This design can be easily modified to fit any space or size of tool, and can be completed in less than an hour with only a couple of 2x6x8's.

Perfect simple yet very sturdy design! Just what I was looking for! Thanks for the video!
Yes! I’ve been looking for an organization style like this for my tools!! Thank you!!!
The only difference I see with my tools and yours is my tools are well used. Nice rack I like it a lot.
Thanks for your video as I have no imagination..........short and to the point.
Great video this will definitely help organize all the shovels and rakes!
Wonderfully I have so many spades , shovels , rakes perfect diy
thank you!, I just built this today using your video
Great scrap wood project, bomber strong and sweet soundtrack! Gonna mount mine with a couple shims behind the bottom edge of the ledger board for security - thanks!!
Thanks , This gave me another idea to use !
Great idea! Thanks. I like being able to stack multiple shoves in one slot. Many other videos waste space by only having one per slot.
more versatile than other single tool brackets. able to hold more in less space. real benefit.
Hi! I just built this tool rack today. This is a very straightforward, simple design, and it will serve me for years to come. Thanks for the vid!
That is awesome. Seriously the best part of making video's is hearing about and seeing other people build their own version of the project.
Lovely!
Nice video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Great video
Thanks for posting this. I got some 2x4 from a pallet that was carrying something very tall, lugged it home in the pickup, and kept the 2x4 for a rainy day. After 20 something years of putting my garden tools in a corner or wherever I could fit them I finally looked up organizational ideas and decided this was the one for me. It works *perfectly* and I am ecstatic.
Finally decided to organize my shed-like garage (it's barely big enough for a MINI) and installed some pegboard as well. Thanks for posting this. This was a 1 out of 10 in terms of difficulty - the hardest part was finding my countersink bit - and a 10 out of 10 in terms of functionality and form!
And just to clarify 2x4 work fine. I would suggest people use whatever spare material they have. A zero cost project like this is just fantastic.
I also recycled some old double hooks I had in my closets that I renovated....screwed them in between the pairs of tool hangers. This is a great addition since you're able to hang smaller, shorter things that won't take up drawer space like a short level, a pry bar, an umbrella, etc.
Here is a picture of what I did. I also added a second 2x4 below it so that I could hang my pipe clamps.

Machigane awesome idea. I’m going to add some hooks to mine also.
Nice!!!
I like this.
Simple and effective
Thumbs up at least because of the name 👍
Nice! I have to laugh a little because I have a tendency to build things with overkill as well.
Why not cut them to the correct angle to start with then you get two cuts in one motion.nice job though.good project
Very nice work sir. I finally found the design I intend to use my my garage because of you.
Whats the deepest you'd recommend those arms reach?
From my mounting wall, I have roughly 10" before it interferes with my garage door railing. I like your stacking method but dont want to add too much weight. I'd obviously would store heavier tooling against the backer board and lighter ones on the opened side.
What final length did you end up with on yours?
I shouldve read comment before asking.. I see you said 6.5 and would go deeper. Im pretty sure its safe to goto 10" considering it mounting to studs through drywall.
As long as you connect the arms with long enough screws it should be fine to go longer. Realistically garden tools don't weigh very much so there is not a lot of stress on the arms. I keep the heavier items like sledge hammers on the ground anyway.
Go Cougs!!!
Quick and easy.. Thanks. How deep are the brackets?
They are 6.5" deep, but I would probably make them 7.5-8" deep if I were to make it again.
@@Foleywoodworking great thanks. Thats this weekends project.
2x4? or 2x6? Great work!! I want to make those for my shed.
2x6's
How do I build my own cabinets?
Was the 5 deg angle on the back of the brackets to tilt the brackets upward? It looks like the cut was not the full height of the bracket - like only about half. See 55-105. Why?
Vincent Esposito yes the 5 degree angle was just to tilt the bracket upward. The cut was the full height. The lower part of the cut was just barely shaving the cut. Blade kerf is 1/8”.
Why do you do the slight back and forth when you start your cut with the miter saw? Does it prevent tearout?
Yes it does a little. If I am doing more fine/detail work I will even go as far at putting painters tape on the area I am going to cut to prevent or minimize tear out.
Thanks for the tip! I just made this rack today
Would be nice if I had all the saws and drills to make
How long are the arm piece and what is the angle cut at the bottom?
the arm pieces are 7" long but you can cut them as long as you'd like. The angle of the arm where it attaches to the mounting plate it 5 degrees. The Angle at the bottom of each arm is 45 degrees.
How much 2 x 6 do I need for this project?
2 of them 8' long
site says free plans but site says you have to pay so is it free or not
Thanks for letting me know. I’m surprised no one else has mentioned the discrepancy considering how long ago the video was published. When I originally released the video the plans were free for the first 2 months. Today they are only $1. Sorry for any confusion.
The author does like to from scratch, czcams.com/users/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practise the full stack project, is still great.
Good job. The music made me ill
Should have cut the small peices while still a whole piece. Safer
You should clamp the workpiece or use a hold down keep your fingers away from the blade please.
Mitchell Kasdin you are probably right.
Before biden. Now it’s 160 dollars worth of wood. Lol
Why all the back'n'forth cutting with the miter saw? (Justifying the slide mechanism? :) LOL). Just kidding. No really. Why?
The blade was just dull and I didn’t want to make a trip to Home Depot just for a new blade. I didn’t want to stress the motor too much so I just took smaller passes.
I've had a few people reach out to me about the plans. They are now available on my website. foleywoodworking.com/product/easy-diy-garden-tool-rack-digital-plans/
unflexible and overkill
I think you are right, I like your idea much better. What is the name of your channel that includes your design?
You must think wood grows on trees. What a waste
Right? I made my storage rack out of grass clippings and compost.
