Can my stream/pond double as I fire hose system? In this video I fix my broken stream, get the water pump working again, and test out my DIY Wildland Firefighting System. This stream and pond was one of my first projects so I am happy to get it running again as it looks awesome and could potentially serve a vital purpose in a wildfire.

Great job. Another good idea is to clearly mark your hose hookup so if you have to leave firefighters know where it's at and can utilize it for refill.

Thanks! Yeah that's a good idea. One day I want to add way more capacity maybe in a tank up the hill and figure out a backup power situation

@@DIYSCOTT I built a slip on fire pumper unit to put in my ranch pickup with hose reel and everything. I can draft with it as well. It's perfect for my property and also helping my neighbors out.

Definitely put guide posts or something to find that waterline. If SHTF the smoke will be thick and you dont want to be scrambling around looking for that hookup my dude. Nice little setup

Yeah I would need back up power and way more capacity too for it to actually be a good solution

In most cases houses do not burn down from the raging head of a forest fire but from small fires set by embers. The first 0 to 5 feet is the most important. Not a bad system if you have electricity to power the pump. Next upgrade, generator to run pump! At my home I have 3000 gallons water, generator and gas powered fire pump with class A foam. I consider it to be my fire insurance deductible.

Cool stuff. Most people wouldn't be thinking ahead like you are. I might have missed it in the video, but do you have a dedicated water tank, say one of those cheaper 1000G tanks you can get at Tractor Supply? And the water pump and hose that Harbor Freight sells?

The pump I have is also used for the stream but the valve opens up the hose pipe. I think I probably only have about 400-500 gallons of capacity in the tanks underground. What I need is another tank like your talking about and back up power
