It's all hills & mountains here but when testing them, my son & I could hear/talk CLEARLY even though he was over a mile away....through these hills!! Unbelievable

Those advertisements are under perfect conditions, and full line of sight. With trees and buildings in the way , a quarter of a mile is about the best I can ever get.
Do you know how to set a privacy code on these. My wife threw away the directions. Actually that's I lie I threw them away because I thought I wouldn't neeed them.
thay operate at 1/2 a watt so your under a mile line of site my radio's are the same as yours so family service is and will always be under a mile. If two circles are one mile each then one has to cross over the other
I just bought a pair of these from Goodwill for four dollars. The batteries are still working in them but I don't have any instructions. 😢. Care to share those instructions?
I would Google the brand and see if thay have a instruction on how to work the radio and replace the batteries with recharge able with a wall charger and buy extra batteries for all day use and bring along with

I know your comment is old as, but these have Vox, so it will transmit when it detects sound, if you turn that setting on
yes you would wast batteries if you store them long term remove batterys
that way thay will not leak in the radio

You go on the menu then keep pressing it until it says vox with some number and then make the number to zero
