In this day and age, it has become a fashion to wear trousers above the ankles anyways. One can argue that wearing trousers above the ankle today is pride (for fashion) while a trouser that goes below the ankle is not even considered fashion so no pride. Also back in the day, clothes were scarce so to wear clothes below the ankles was a sign of showing off one's wealth with pride. Allah knows best. To me the misht (gown) that both imams are wearing are extravagant. Not necessary. We live in a very complex world today. May Allah give us Hidayah

What I have understood from the book tafsir of riyad us saliheen by Sheikh ibn Uthaymeen RA is that there are two scenarios and two degree of punishment. Allah SWT won't look at the one who does it out of pride. And second one, the one who does it(without pride) that part will be in fire. There are two seperate scenarios as evident from the ahadeeth and the punishments mentioned. Makes sense, and this explanation makes also sense.

His interpretation of this hadith is that, it's a warning to Muslims to not convert Islam to priesthood. It's the priests who wear long, loose garments covering their ankles and hands. Look like Muslims have moved away from this interpretation, and accepted the hadith literally. Hope someone correct me if I am wrong. Salaam.

    • @learningadab
      @learningadab Před 3 lety +3

Whatever is easy for you, since different types of bottoms and trousers fold differently. Jeans are easily tucked upwards to raise the cuffs, whereas formal suit trousers/more silky bottoms which can't stay folded would need to be shortened or cropped. You can tuck trouser legs into socks but it will look odd, compared to simply making a neat fold if the material is soft enough to do so. As long as they're above the ankles, you have fulfilled the command, and Allah knows best.

Brother Abid Taiab in Arabic is like saying OK in English. Izar in Arabic is the piece of clothing used to wrap around the lower part of the body. This is similar to the shalwar. The point is not the name of the clothing, but the act of wearing any article of clothing that covers below the ankle. Even if you wear your slacks or jeans below the ankle, that is haram. Hope this helps

Narrated Abu Huraira:The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The part of an Izar which hangs below the ankles is in the Fire."Bukhari 5787
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as saying: If anyone trails his garment arrogantly, Allah will not look at him on the Day of Resurrection. Then Abu Bakr said: One of the sides of my lower garment trails, but still I remain careful about it. He said: You are not one of those who do so conceitedly. Abu Dawud: 4085

It would've been more wholesome of an explanation if the sheikh explained why the imams of the 4 madhabs and Ibn Taymiya did not say its wajib or fard to keep garments above the ankle. Check IslamQA for further detail.

Yes, a more scholarly and fairer approach to any fiqh related issue is to present the rulings from the four imams of ahlus sunnah and why they differed if there is a difference. Otherwise, we get a biased view from the presenter, which does not do just to the sharia. Barakalahu feekum.

Salam Allaikum Sheikh, I have a question due to this matter. I heard another Shuyuugh saying that at that time of Prophet sas it was a sign of kibr to wear clothes like this, but today no one would think that you have kibr because you wearing a trouser under ka3bain. Is this view also right or not?

Wasalaam, whatever is easy for you.
Some people might be okay with a simple fold, especially on things like sweatsuit/jogging bottoms made from soft cotton, and some will trim smart suit trousers. Depends on what you wear, just try your best to follow the sunnah! May Allah bless you.
      And Allah knows best.

This may be a stupid question and I may not have the right/accurate information but why is there scholars like abu hanifah saying otherwise? Or even if he did say. I’m not sure if he actually did and don’t want to put anything his mouth. I’m just confused on the different opinion specially when both sides stick strongly to it. It’s hard to follow the right thing when people are also telling me raising it is out of pride in a place where no one raises it. Please elaborate if you have the chance. Thank you.

Thx , but what is with buchari 1040?
    Long clothes?
We were with Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) when the sun eclipsed. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) stood up dragging his cloak till he entered the Mosque. He led us in a two-rak`at prayer till the sun (eclipse) had cleared. Then the Prophet (p.b.u.h) said, "The sun and the moon do not eclipse because of someone's death. So whenever you see these eclipses pray and invoke (Allah) till the eclipse is over."
