The keeping of birthday records was important in ancient times principally because a birth date was essential for the casting of a horoscope. So, there is a direct connection between the pagan practice of birthday celebrations and astrology (horoscopes and fortune telling). Leave this practice for the sake of Allah!

If I may make a request....I'm a researcher of herbal medicine. I want to learn literary Arabic and the. books for this are, in my opinion, difficult if not impossible. Is there any chance that there is audio somewhere for the book: "An Introduction to Koranic and Classical Arabic" by Thackston ?? His books and audio for Persian are brilliant. If only we had the same for Arabic. I'm stuck with the only books that seem to help at this early stage of my learning, which is books from the 1890's by British military people and colonialists. The one by Arthur Cotton is good for a start but not the best. Internet Archive has some audio for it.

But didn’t Shaykh Uthaymeen say we weren’t supposed to go around looking into how the people of the book slaughter the animals? Just like Messenger of Allāh (salallāhu alaihi wasallam) said “say Bissmillaah and eat it “. Additionally you can not for sure say that every single slaughter house uses the same method. The fact that messenger in the Quran alone is mentioned in many verse throughout the Quran. Should this not be enough to understand?
