- Today I cycle in the south of the island from Palmanova to Randa to the climb up to the 13th century monastary, the Santuario de Cura which at 543m above sea level is the highest point in central Majorca.

Yes there are 2 ways up. The way you went up is the easier of the two. As you went up you passed a couple of fancy gate posts. This is where the other route comes out. The other route is steeper and plenty of hairpins. It is accessed from the back of Luc Major. N.B. I would recommend not going down it on a normal bike. It is steep in parts and sometimes has loose stones on it. If you go through the gate posts you will see a hermitage but I have never stopped and looked at it.
Another monastery climb is "Santuario de Monti-Sion", near Porreres, so not much further than Randa.
(no cafe though.)
Muchas gracias for the video. Brings back good memories.
@@johnW-k8g Hi John, thanks for commenting. Thanks for the clarification about the other way and also the other monastery route/climb 🚴👍

Hope you enjoyed it 🏴🚴👍
@@LivandTrekGoCycling Awesome 🤩 Loved the Climb to Randa 🙌🏻
I gave you top billing as well...by including your photo on the thumbnail....you're famous now 🚴🏴😆
Amazing Julie
@@leehitchen5438 Hi, thanks for commenting, although Im not sure who Julie is?
@LivandTrekGoCycling oooops sorry posted on wrong video It was meant for your mate Julie wheeler 🤣
Haha...no worries. I wish her nothing but the best currently 😇
Otro buen vídeo Pete.
El viaje hasta el monasterio merece la pena. Cómo encontraste la bicicleta de alquiler esta vez?
Noté que era freno de llanta.
Oh yeah, and fancy going all that way, riding out for a good while and then meeting another Welshman!
Hola Duncan, gràcies per comentar. M'alegro que hagis gaudit del vídeo. La bicicleta de fre de llanda que es veu en aquest vídeo estava bé. Ho vaig llogar a la mateixa botiga. 🚴🇪🇦👍
So pleased you did this climb as I did it in April and didn’t get to see any views due to rain / mist 😂😂😂 so thanks for showing me what I missed out on
Ian, thanks for commenting. Glad you enjoyed it. Were you staying in the south also?
I stayed at soller which is a great little town and base with the brilliant hair pinned climb of col de soller and the port de soller. Would highly recommend if you’ve not been
I've been to port soller a couple of times. Had lunch there not so long ago when I did the Puig Major climb ...very pretty place 🚴👍
You went the easyway
Thanks for commenting. It was still enjoyable 🚴👍
Go and have a ride up San Salvador, its the best monastery climb on the island (there are loads), its a way from Palmanova though.
Oliver, thanks for commenting. San Salvador has been on my 'ride list' for a few years. It's around a 83 mile round trip when I stay in the north...just haven't gotten round to it yet. I've been there once though many years ago as tourist on a bus trip. Have you ridden it yourself?
@@LivandTrekGoCycling Yes plenty of times. Its a bit steeper and a bit more spectacular.... and the cafe is cheaper. There are GPX files all over the internet for various rides connecting the monasteries in Mallorca, 100 miles ish generally. Its mostly quiet back lanes, pretty villages and then the short climbs up to the monasteries. They are a nice change of scene from the Tramuntana rides.
Next time I'm on the island and in the north...it'll be on my list 🇪🇦🚴👍
