Rsx are becoming more and more difficult to come by. :(. Took me 1 year of looking a few times a week to find a base manual that hasn’t been molested. Type s, forget it. They all have been beat to absolute shit, totaled, neglected or modified far past it being reliable. Honestly I’ll take the base over the type s nowadays. If you are looking for a race car, the base isn’t your car. It’s not fast. And it’s not worth dumping money into the motor to make it fast. But the k20a3 with a manual transmission is still a super fun setup that sounds cool, is reliable and has super cheap parts available. Replacement motor will run you 500 bucks for the motor. Cheap cheap cheap fun. Just make it look cool with springs, wheels and an oem style spoiler and you have a pretty sweet ride.
Lol I got a type s, mint paint, bone stock for 4k. Under 100k miles. 06 too
@@subparmonkey9186 good for you they're a dumbass lol
@@subparmonkey9186 good s#it that's a steal if there's nothing wrong with it. I got a 06 DC5 TYPE-S with 76K miles on it all stock, no check engine 💡 for $7500.
I have a base and I’m happy with it

Got a base for a decent price with the intent of rebuilding it.
I love my 04 type s i dont think any other car ive driven has ever given such a smile when the engine is screaming at 8k rpms
Recently I got rear ended and it possibly totaled my car I’m currently looking for another rsx just in case. I love rsx’s so much i can’t live without one
Casey B right there with you lmao. after my last rsx turned out to be a lemon, my dad made me get a lease on a ‘14 scion tC. not complaining whatsoever, I love the car. but that doesn’t mean I’m not gonna get another dc5 when the lease is up. I get so stoked everytime I see an rsx on the roads, even completely stock (they’re super rare in indiana). I’ll never stop loving the dc5
SneakerKnockerz I’ve only seen another rsx in Indiana and it was a base model I think I have the only type s in 50 miles lol but I saw a lot of them in Chicago
@@sneakerknockerz702 ew tc
Casey B I got a base 2002 rsx and turned it into a stanced beauty
If you are planning to swap the engine then it doesn't matter. If you like some performance then I recommend a Type S. If you just did not care then get a base.
I have an 04 base auto that my father in law bought new I paid $1500 for it a few yrs ago it had 132,000 miles well taken care of it's now at 163,000 no leaks whatsoever I've replaced the radiator, high pressure ps line, idler pulley.its all stock aside from a custom made Cai it may not be the fastest car but I get compliments all the time and amazing gas milage
I love my 2006 rsx base model other then replacing the rear main seal and clutch it’s nice daily so far and honest with the help of a friend and a left replacing the seal and clutch was not that bad
Got a base. Doing a k24 swap so I went with the cheaper option
Nor To the 3rd you save on insurance as well
Nice. Hows it going? I have full Bolton’s and trying to figure out my next move
Aaron P k24a2 k20z1 or k20a2 head
Levi Cruz K20a2
nice car. i think we need some cruising videos.
I'm getting me a base model cuz that's all I need
Type s also has bigger front disc brakes from factory and 36mm hub (type s) vs 32mm hub (base), also the suspension is different, and they have aspec type s too, with aspec suspension and full lip kit
What’s about a 03 type s are they the same side skirts as the 05-06?
@@jesusroblero3959 no, 05-06 type s sideskirts are different
Both cars are fun. Which is what all matters. If you look at numbers, the RSX type s is better. Power delivery is VERY different besides being being both K20s
Good to know the S only came with stick as I'll be looking for one in the near future. Thanks for the vid :)
Null I’m glad it helped 👍🏻
So hold up a minute is my rsx type s rare because mine came with cloth seats and has the k20a2 with vtec not I-vtec and is a six speed
What about the pre-facelift ones? The ones that were Type-S came with a K20a2, which produces 200 HP.
The JDM Type-R DC5 came with a K20a that produces 220 HP.
Are you talking about the ones before the 05?
Do all models and all years fit the rubber Acura trunk all weather mats? Do all rsx s come with the plastic privacy screen in the back?
jp554731 Yes to both of your questions. Feel free to subscribe to my channel to check out updates on my RSX that I am modifying.
My JDM Type-S model has a mixture of both. For instance my seats are all fabric.
The jdm type s was the lowest trim in japan. They only had type s to type r. It's closer to our base model while our type s Is closer to the type r
Doing some research which would be a better trim to get to modify as a daily driver? I was going with the base model, but I'm trying to figure out what makes the engines different.
They both seem to be I VTECH naturally aspirated. If so, would base model be worth it since I'm most likely going to upgrade tires/wheels and maybe introduce forced induction and tune?
Is there a difference in sound from road and engine noise between the two?
I had a 2005 type s k20z1 engine, there a little road noise because of the wheels but does not affect anything you just forgot when you hit the ivtec screaming..other then that is a beast for a 4 cylinder 210 hp..
Got my 2006 Type s for $5,000 with 62k miles. I LOVE IT
How?
Dayum!
what a deal! but how??
@@PhelZ it’s a salvage title. Light rear end damage but previous owner fixed it before I bought it. Also I got it before COVID & prices were normal lol
I like the base model because mileage is better and you can use regular gas.
Type s has better mileage if you know how to drive stick well. But you do need to buy premium.
@@subparmonkey9186 Type S definitely does not have better mileage and you should be getting premium gas for your Type S. It’s bad if you put regular in it.
True money pit I'm almost done with my build tho just got to buy injectors turbo Kpro and a lip kit
Easier said the done tho lol
Lets see it man
Which one you got? Type-a or base?
You forget something .Whats about brakes and suspension?????
What about it? I'm looking for a rsx 2002 this weekend
Wtf mine didn't come with the 17 inch wheels
Needa get cloth seats in my s this az heat fucks you up with this leather lol

I have a base model and as compared to a Type-S
- I currently have better suspension, brakes, brake lines, bushings, control arms f&r, sway bars, f&R strut bars, a real momo steering wheel with an nrg quick release, full mugen front bumper, type R replica spoiler, custom android head unit with a built in OBDII reader along with the torque app for all my data, custom audio, interior lighting, aluminum pedals, k-tuned shifter, heavy weight shift knob, cai, custom exhaust, custom head lights, aero hood latches, modded hood cable, motion sensor alarm with remote start and its a manual with a light weight flywheel and new clutch, new motor mounts and a tune.
Its quicker than a type-s off the line and through the canyons but not in a straight line but I didn't by this car to drag race. So now for about $5000 which is less than I see a clean Type-s go for I now have a car that performs the way I intended it. I intentionally left the motor stock because when it decides to go in another 150k or so I'll have a good platform to do an engine swap with. For now it is plenty fun as a reliable daily that gets good mpg and is fun to drive. Plus the ins is cheap and it something different that catches people off guard.
I own a type s and if I were you I would get a base model; between using cheaper gas and having smaller wheels and the price to have a tag and insurance it adds up. If you are a car enthusiast you could have another drivetrain(like the type s drivetrain or something more radical like k24) and have the fun the type s will give with the cheap things that matter from the base model (ex. Insurance). I see a lot of type s drivetrains ( I recently swapped mine because of bad piston rings) and it's not complicated. If you do it in a base you will need the ECU and other things but as complexity comes I believe is in a scale of 5 from 10. Anyways its your money and your decision. I was just sharing my experience.
Not completely true the 05-06 came with eather k20a3 or the k20z1 and the base model had the opposite of sun roof or not
All rsx in north america came sunroof, only the dc5 integra type r came with no sunroof….
I'm looking at a 03 rsx they say it's a type s and has a lot of the body parts for a type s but there's limited pictures of the car and it's debadged so is there a way to know if it's a real type s or not just from a few outside shots and 1 interior shot? It's only 3k that's low af for a type s here in NY there usually almost 10k for a real one so I'm kinda questioning this
Oh Pulse look at the Speedometer it should read 160
yeah but thats stuff anyone can change
The S is only 6 speed no plastic intake manifold
There is another version of type s with 200hp...k20a2 engine...i think maybe this one got automatic gearbox...
Yeh that’s the 2002-2004 model type s. Only came with manual transmission.
Get a base out a 24 in it call it a day
jdm integra dc5 type r better! k20a 6 speed manual
Many more differences actually.
So between the two, the type s has many beautiful small feautures to it but it’s not automatic like the base so I would recommend the base because it’s automatic and it’s better for a beginner. Later on you could customize the base and make it into a nice car
What about the 03 type s does it have the same side skirts as a base ??
Type S got paint matched sideskirts. Base came bare plastic. Same shape though
Dude you forgot the exhaust pipes. Type-S is bigger... Base is smaller
Well I can't drive stick yet so guess it's the base
how are you going to learnnn!
We’re on the same boat my dude
Dude no. I literally had to teach myself. I wanted an 86 300zx but was standard. I couldn't even test drive it because I didn't know how to drive stick. But I bought it anyway. I practiced at night and now at 27, I have a 17 type R. Take the initiative. Learn man!
I thought myself in my base model rsx. The thing is I wasn’t a total noob. I had a pretty good understanding of how the clutch works so it was pretty easy to teach my self.
Buy a manual so no matter what you’ll have to learn manual
Base takes 87 type s takes 91 commuter or fun drive 🤣🤣🤣
Your wrong because my Acura RSX 2006 base model comes with leather seats 🤦🏼♂️
It's an option for the base. Standard for type s. First owner had to pay extra to get type s seats in the base
he literally said either is possible in the vid
@@ericweiss8020 exactly. The rsx was aimed as a luxury car and therefore can come with all the luxury features. RSX was aimed as a luxury sports car so the exclusive features focus more towards performance.
* You’re
Some people who are addicted to manual like a Bible act like if you have a RSX in automatic 😏you're automatically crazy😂 Not everyone likes manual and can still appreciate any car regardless.
Got a base with black leather 126k miles for $2500. Modding it already! When I'm done I'll have an RSX how I want, better than a Type-S for the same price.
Idk about that. I got a type s for 4k with under 100k miles in August. Mint paint.
@@subparmonkey9186 That sounds like a good deal. Do you still have it?
Well I currently have better suspension, brakes, brake lines, bushings, control arms f&r, sway bars, f&R strut bars, a real momo steering wheel with an nrg quick release, full mugen front bumper, type R replica spoiler, custom android head unit with a built in OBDII reader along with the torque app for all my data, custom audio, interior lighting, aluminum pedals, k-tuned shifter, heavy weight shift knob, cai, custom exhaust, custom head lights, aero hood latches, modded hood cable, motion sensor alarm with remote start and its a manual with a light weight flywheel and new clutch, new motor mounts and a tune.

Disclaimer: most of this is for 05-06
Fin Fin which is what he says
Coda5610 shut yo ol bitch ass up
Just joking. I didn’t notice he said it lol
Pretty sure the wheels are wrong
Base model is slower then a b16 civic
Type s is a 6 speed and has Vtec
So does base just is a more consistent vtec that kicks in at 2300
Base model 🥴🥴🥴
Base is half the price of the type s from what I've seen.
there's a type r rsx too.. which is better than all of them
Thr33Dent false
I believe thats the integra dc5
Good luck finding that and then affording to pay for it
The S is pretty much just a rebadged Type R.
not at all... lol the type s is as similar to the type r as it is to the base... in other words.. they're three different cars.
Basically the only difference is that one is manual and one is automatic..
The base you can get with a 5-Speed
Type s makes more power and is oriented as a sports car. Base is a econobox.
Did you watch the video?
basically one is for a man and one is for a girl
