I love to hear a manufacturer rep that knows his product in detail, and he gave detailed answers to every one of Jay's questions. That gentleman is a real credit to Cadillac.
Yes, yes, you did a great job answering Jay's questions. Well done.
Do you people have hearing issues or something? In every single video, Jay says the job title (it also literally pops up on screen, in front of them) of the person he's interviewing, and every time he interviews an actual engineer involved in the hand-on development of the project there are always people in the comments referring to the interviewee as a "rep", which is VERY different from an actual hands-on engineer that participated in the entire development of the car from day one. In this case, and many others, the "rep" was the Executive Chief Engineer for the development of this vehicle, so *obviously* he is going to know more than anyone else in the company about this vehicle. I agree that it's great to see companies no longer sending interns or salesmen that were sent a 1-2 page brief sheet of talking points to repeat endlessly, but if you payed attention at all to the guy's title when it was mentioned then it shouldn't be surprising or noteworthy at all that he is so knowledgeable about the vehicle.
@@moogle68 "What do you mean, 'you people'?". My goodness, what a good stern well deserved talking to us people have received. Thanks so much!! 👍
@@ytj22 😆 sorry.
I thought he was really boring actually. Yes, he knew all the details but he wasn't much fun to listen to. Bring Tyler Hoover back!
It seemed like Jay liked this vehicle. He said he wasn't a SUV guy but he couldn't keep his foot out of it. Every time Jay gave it the beans I saw this kiddish grin. Awesome!
I thought it was funny how much the frontend lifted when he punched it

Cadillac making one of the most unique vehicles on sale today. This black on black spec really suits this model.
Almost straight to "let's go for a drive!" no tour around this Cadillac.
One reason I love Jay Leno.
Because it’s an Escalade. The main focal point of this vehicle is its engine. If it wasn’t for the engine being what it is, it would be on Jay’s show.
“Straight to the drive!”
-drive starts 18 minutes after the video
I can listen to Jay talk cars all day
Global Brand. Really? What about Australia?
He's just fantastic!
I wanted to hear the speakers blast some good music !
What is the stereo model? Bowes? Alpine? What?
Have they made it in red?
"Just hop in the back with a bottle of Scotch." Don't ever change Jay... 🤣
I wouldn't dare driving it on a long trip at night. 💀
Jump in the back with one of those girly girls, with a bottle of scotch. You won't ever change
I've always liked Jay Leno. He's a great host and has a genuine passion for cars. His knowledge is incredible. He seems real and down to earth.
Some of the things I love the best about Jays channel, are then stories about his folks, his child hood, and early adulthood. Always humorous and always true. Here the car is second to the stories. With all the cars he owns, he's still a Caddie man. ;-)
The social history is nearly as interesting as the cars.
Speaking of one’s family, mother, father, experiences growing to adulthood demonstrate an appreciation and respect for those people and times. Perhaps most importantly it speaks to one’s character. Jay’s parents did an exemplary job in raising a son.
Everything but the "rapper" comment. Glad the GM rep didn't entertain the ignorant comment🎰
These stories need to be turned into a movie, or maybe a graphic novel first. His childhood and cars, his dad and cars, his mom and cars, his dad and him talking about cars and young Jay trying to correct him. Also him and his friends car spotting, and later working at dealerships.
Well, after all, Cadillac is the Rolls Royce of cars!
I was impressed with the Caddy rep, he really knew his business and tech, and you could feel his dedication to and pride in the company and this product. Loved that smile that lit up Jay's face when he let it rip.
You mean the Chief Engineer? Ofc he knows his stuff he wouldn’t have that title if he didn’t + paid the big bucks 😂
@@alexs1429 The point is that he's not just a paper pusher or "bean counter" as Jay often calls it.
I didn't like his constant sales pitch.
He really sounded like a marketing guy though. They purposefully made the standard Escalade slow compared to the 2014-2021, current one does like 10 seconds to 100 kmh, while the previous one had V performance while towing or not and did not have to be a "performance" model
I think the guest companies have learned that they need to send the engineers, not some exec or sales guy. Jay doesn't ask super difficult questions, but they're non-standard
My father always wanted a Cadillac sedan but couldn't justify paying the price, so he drove Buick Le Sabre, Custom Trim. The
first one I drove was a 1965 Le Sabre with a 355 Wildcat engine. It was a beast when you floored it!!
Yup...My dad's 1967 Buick Wildcat had a 430cu, 360hp engine...It sounded badass when floored!
Buick rated engines by torque so the '355' was prolly the small block 340"...
I loved the bit where Jay was discussing pricing of the regular base 400HP Escalade during the ride along and the V-Series chief engineer sitting next to him replied deadpan "...yeah, the base Escalade is great..." without any enthusiasm whatsoever in his voice or facial expression, and then he immediately went silent and stared straight ahead (just like an actor after delivering his line, waiting for the director to call "cut"). You can tell that the dude's a pure car guy, and that statement was just as painful for him to recite as something like "...yeah, the Toyota Prius is AWESOME!"
I caught that too😂😂😂
The V series are the coolest thing GM has done since the Corvette.
Wrong HSV
@@hendo337 what?
they just did not beat EU cars in performance. For the love of god. Audi and mercedes made that kind of power before ww2. And since 1970s you could basically buy racing porsches. Some of those got over 1000hp. so no V series is cool lets leave it at that.
@@hagestadwhat model?
GM gets is designers from fisher price. This might be uglier than the new Vette.
Best SUV. Wow as if the power output by that monster V8 wasn’t enough it looks awesome, super clean design with smoothed out lines and a luxury hub in the interior. Just a perfect American machine.
? It's a boring box on wheels
@@danam0228 you sound like one who likes better the tesla with the stupid gullwing rear doors. So yeah this is too much of a real SUV for you, specially too load and manly.
I did so much research on this vehicle and it's competitors, but I had to settle on the Cadillac. Mine is supposed to arrive in late August and I've never been more excited. Great work!
Congrats 🚗 🎉 🚗
Cadillac is for comfort not racing. Buy a Jag if you want both.
Did the exact same. This is my good bye to ICE. I went with Argent Silver, Onyx package, hasn't been accepted at factory level yet but I'm super excited for it. When was your order submitted?
@@masterchief9005 Young d u m b people with money. What a waste lol
Are you guys getting a base Escalade or this V series? Enjoy!
Cadillac hit it out of the park with this SUV. I’ve been looking at these things in the streets and I will tell u. They are gorgeous! The front looks amazing! It looks like a mean Spartan with his helmet ready for war.
Good description! 😃
No electric car will ever bring out so many smiles on a single ride to Jay's face. This thing's special.
Electric cars will never give you Smiles per gallon the reason people love gas-powered cars is the noise it makes
Wait till he drives one faster than almost all his fleet.
Who would have thought that an Escalade could be so badass? 🇺🇲
Americans

Don;t worry, soon it will be electric and suck
Check out some of stapleton42 older videos. Just look for the blue Escalade.
Had to top the Porsche SUV... in performance... but, fortunately, not in price...
The relief seat massage mode joke had me in tears.
Some of my favorite moments are when Jay shares family memories.
It’s always entertaining noting the differences between what Jay wants to discuss versus the vehicle’s representative. “Yes we put great effort into the stitching and the sound system has a trillion speakers “….”so you said hands free driving, what’s that all about?”
It’s always pretty funny. They try so hard to control the conversation but Jay will not be swayed from what he wants to discuss. I love it.
Gorgeous. I was worried about how I would afford the gas for this thing until I saw the price tag of $151,215. Guess I don't have to worry about affording the gas :). While I can never afford to own one of these, I'm glad there are enough people who can so that Cadillac is incentivized to build these beautiful vehicles. I love to see a beautifully engineered vehicle whether I can afford it or not.
yeah GM has there share of problems don't think a 150.000 suv will fix them.
This is a Horta. The last of its kind. All battery from here...
It's not beautiful-- it's appallingly ugly.
Ya but he said zero maintenance on the engine so it’s worth it.
US gov alone will buy enough to keep them in business
12 yards long, two lanes wide, 65 tonnes of American pride. Canyoneeeeeroooo!
Jay Leno is one of those guys where when he starts rambling on and on about whatever - you shut up, let him, listen and learn something interesting. Amazing!😊
This guy looks like he is missing his ponytail. What a beast of a car. Cadillac has sort of changed it's image and I couldn't be more pleased...
I was thinking Steven Segal as soon as I saw him lol, but a pleasant and informative fella.
This vehicle is the acme of bad taste and stupidity!
With all due respect, meant for lottery winners Red-necks and hillbillies?
That Cadillac guy made me feel like I'm test driving at the dealer
Jay: "It sounds good."
Suv Segal: "It Sounds Great!"
That is really cool to have the engine builder’s name on the engine and driven by Jay Leno. Hopefully, he got to see this episode.
I was thinking the same thing
It's so weird seeing a massive Escalade accelerating like that XD
you forgot 'YO". why this guy kept doing that? ')
Thank you, Mr. Leno for another great history lesson🙏🏽
That poor GM marketing guy who came over from Maytag. Jay is just relentless against that guy lol
😂 Did you know that GM is now being ran by engineers 🤯😂
I was just thinking that Cadillac could have made it bigger - until I heard this was the short wheel base. It’ll certainly own the boulevard, there’s no room for anyone else.
I love it when Jay's guests know what they're talking about. Makes the video very interesting
The Escalade-V is so nice, in&out, and the powertrain.
problem is its GM reliability. We will see i suppose.
@@hagestad more reliable than any of foreign cars that’s for sure.
@@inchlorIentztJiIu Its easy to check US reliability charts. GM cars are not the greatest there to be polite. If they were there would be absolutely no reason to produce anymore. Imagine GM cars are as reliable as Toyota hilux or Land Cruiser. No one would ever need new car in US.
Really exciting to see the finished product I work on these everyday and it always amazes me
Jay Leno's Garage is my favorite CZcams channel! Very thorough reviews!
I currently daily drive a 2013 Cadillac CTS-V it's truly a sleeper and doesn't attract a lot of attention, I love it!
What a BEAST and TANK all in one!
Great work Jay. I wish we got these in Australia. I'm usually a Ford bloke but this is a beast.
Barely any ameircan company makes rhd cars sadly
This car gave me goosebumps just looking at it..Well done Cadillac and all those involved at GM.
Cheers to all the engineers and designers you made this vehicle possible!
I happen to be friends with the owner of the last CTS-V wagon with a manual ever made. It's quite the story how it happened, and all because a very senior Cadillac guy promised my friend she could get a manual....then there were no manual parts left. It was built, but the scrambling was interesting.
Wow would love to hear the story and see that vehicle
Bloody hell, that's a story for CZcams! Goddamn!
I don’t care what anybody says. This is so freaking cool.
Your not the only one! I enjoyed the Covid talks with Jay!
Love Jay’s stories, I could listen to him all day. The problem with this vehicle is the clientele. They are the company car for people high up in the illegal pharmaceutical distribution business.
What? The huge majority of people who drive these are uppity entitled rich folks in gated communities. You seem confused.
Gotta love how Jay although extremely successful, he is really a car guy through and through and that’s all
Kind of makes you wonder what Jay Leno's aspirations were younger in life. I should know the story (just because now I'm terribly curious), but I don't. You kind of have to wonder: how DID he end up here?
This bad boy makes it real hard for me to get excited about an electric one!!
Jay n Tim Allen need a car show together asap .
I love the way he effortlessly Segways and transitions. He was going over the interior design and features jay asked a specific question and he was able to transition right back to delivering his point.
I have to say the cars you americans have made the last 8 years or so are pretty remarkable like This crazy escalade , Corvette c8, latest dodge demon , Ford gt etc
Don't forget the c7 Corvette z06 & zr1, Camaro Z/28, 6th gen SS 1le & zl1 1le, Cadillac ctsv's & ct4v/ct5v Blackwings. They may not all be the most popular/most talked about, but are all incredibly capable track cars & driver's cars😊👍🤘
Ultimate SUV! Looks amazing driving down the road.
Luxury Beast. Thanks Jay. 😎👍😎
I always felt the top level Escalade deserved a bespoke Cadillac V12 as a nod to the past, but this will do just as nicely.
Hell, let’s just put the V16 in it.
Mate up two V8s and there you go. V16.
@@tholmes2169Would certainly change the look of the car, much longer hood necessary. But, nonetheless, would be so cool. Truly make it something bespoke.
Another reason people drive in higher up positions (like this suv) is that in a sedan, almost every other vehicle would smash your face in during a collision.
I wanted a Chevy Tahoe, but now I want this Escalade V-Series. The sound! The power! Let me at it!
Tahoe just as good but cheaper
My uncle has one exactly in black like this, they're absolutely stunning in person.
It looks SO mean I love it, you just stand in front of the grill and you feel like the truck wants to beat you.
Awesome machines
so very nice to see in 2023. I have a 1996.. it is the turning point to making these amazing machines. I still feel the same, every year of them...
The Saturday Night Joke
An old, blind Marine wanders into an all-girl biker bar by mistake.
He finds his way to a bar stool and orders a shot of Jack Daniels.
After sitting there for a while, he yells to the bartender, 'Hey, you wanna hear a blonde joke?'
The bar immediately falls absolutely silent.
In a very deep, husky voice, the woman next to him says,
'Before you tell that joke I think it is only fair, given that you are blind, that you should know five things:
1. The bartender is a blonde girl with a baseball bat.
2. The bouncer is a blonde girl.
3. I'm a 6-foot tall, 175-pound blonde woman with a black belt in karate.
4. The woman sitting next to me is blonde and a professional weight lifter.
5. The lady to your right is blonde and a professional wrestler.
Now, think about it seriously, do you still wanna tell that blonde joke?'
The blind Marine thinks for a second, shakes his head and mutters, 'No...not if I'm gonna have to explain it five times.'
this cadillac guy is the man great job love it wish i had the money to buy it
Because we can!!! What a beautiful SUV!!
Sad there going electric! Such sweet sounds!
A really awesome machine! It sounds so good, then to hear the rep say going all electric just takes the smile away! Such a big mistake! That’s one of the many points of performance vehicles like this Cadillac, the sounds, smells, everything we love about performance vehicles!
I agree, going electric is the wrong move (atleast for 100% of their lineup). I can see going EV for the daily/disposable cars, but still making the lower-production sports cars with a combustion v8 & a manual. I'm tired of all these companies jumping on board with this green agenda lie. The c02 emission laws are on a company-wide basis.. so going mostly EV would still allow someone like Cadillac to make ICE Escalades & Blackwings. Do people not realize we still have to burn huge amounts of coal & oil to make electricity? And to make batteries? Not to mention the fact that we dont have the infrastructure to charge that many EV's, nor the electricity to power all of them🤦♂️
I love how Jay doesn't care about the rehearsed marketing nonsense, he just wants to know about the vehicle itself and the work of the people who made it.
Great question Jay regarding the driving experience training. They should offer it for the Escalade and others
cadillac produce very good cars and suvs good video jay and brandon is amazing engineer.

Being from europe, we need this 😃🔥😍
Sweet machine. Pretty exciting for me; I have a 2016 ATS-V Coupe which replaced a 2012 C6 GS. The GS had magnetic ride and a manual transmission, so I didn't know if this fancy-shmancy 4-seater automatic was going to get the job done. It does. A great touring car, but still loads of fun around town. I will probably drive it 'till the wheels fall off. The V's are some pretty great vehicles.
Can’t wait to finally get mine in a couple weeks. And it’s also Black/Black. I’ve been waiting for Leno to showcase one.
This guy epitomizes ‘company man’ and I mean that as a compliment!

30:53 So well said! I say this all the time and people get all but hurt but honestly the old muscle cars are not fast, the “fast” muscle cars back then were 13 second 1/4 mile times if ur lucky and sure some were faster but that’s really what they were! They had terrible handling and even worse braking you would be lucky to have front disk brakes. The steering were gear boxes with all the different arms like trucks have. The suspension’s largely had rear leaf springs with 2 regular shocks. To sum up the old muscle cars they really were a pick up truck with a car body bolted to the frame that’s really what they were. Nowadays we have mini vans that handle much better and are faster lol! I’m not saying muscle cars aren’t cool they are but the driving experience is nothing compared to todays cars.
they were fast in that period. It's the nostalgic romanticism of that era is what kept the muscle car legacy alive.
But a average guy could afford one in the 60's !
60s era suspension, unit body construction, and 70 series bias ply tires slowed those cars a lot. They would be much quicker with modern tire and suspension tech.
Ha, ha love the Cadillac story. You Mum and Dad sound wonderful. I know exactly how your Mum felt when she decided to tell people, 'We are not really Cadillac people'', All working class people have a bit of that us and them attitude, even if only a little, it is a betrayal to other working class. GM has truly stepped up in terms of performance. I have a 2019 Camaro ZL1 and it is amazing how well designed of a performance car it is. I always wanted a car that had monster performance and the ZL1 has achieved it for a bargain of the price compared to it's competitors

Jay, thanks for asking about the wagon. GM should listen, the wagon is one of the best vehicles Cadillac has made. The will never be the top seller but, the would make a profit on every one the sell. Mercedes-Benz only build them to order. I know GM could do the same.
