No, there is a large qualifier process involving everyone else who plays empire wars 1v1 in the ladder plus a last chance qualifier. Since it is a LAN, they have to limit the number of main event players.
16 would hace been nice, like in 2022.

@@williamschubert4819 The time before that had 14 players. Saying they "can't" afford more than 8 this time would require a ton of special pleading.

Couldn't you Team up in the ladder? 3-4 people try to get to the top. In the last days they notice that only one will make it. They queue all 4 and always let one him to give him elo
That's why vipi pointed out that the TOs and Microsoft are certainly going to check the top 4 players' matches for any irregularities. And queueing only into the same 2-3 players constantly is certainly going to raise some alarm.
How do the other not in top 4 qualify?
There is a last chance qualification bracket in August where people battle it out for 2 additional spaces. Looks like up to 256 people can participate so I guess it'll be the top 256 rated people on the ladder who get accepted (if they get that many people registering).

This was a nice "behind the scenes" of how you first find out about an event, what's happening, ranking ladder, prize pool, dress code, date etc...Be nice watching King Viper in several months once you've mastered everything...most? and take your throne...be cool if they ended with a king of the hill :D.

For AoE2, its pretty great. Ro8 on site with an open qualifier. I don't mind Empire Wars, as it makes sense in AOE2 to skip the often boring dark age. A bit sad the todays stream ended abruptly that would show the new maps for the tournament.
But for the others, the community is not impressed. Seen AoM is great, but since we don't have a release date yet, we don't know anything.
Limiting AoE1 to vietnam but letting them play in AoE2RoR is odd, I know they have a massive community there, but why single everyone else out? Plus the community mostly plays on the old CD Version and generally dislike the newer versions. Seems like another try to get the massive AoE1 community there away from the old cd version and into the recent ones. Will probably fail.
But AoE4 is really appoaling. A little over the price pool of AoE1, a third of AoE2 and hosting only the finals on site, mit Marinelord directly seeded into it. Who came up with that? It seems half-assed at best, and the community showed. At least they already moved away from EW in AoE4, as this mode has no purpose there as the dark age are generally interesting to play and watch. I hope they will also change the format to allow more players on site. Seeding the last champhion is fine, as long as its a Ro4 or Ro8, but just the final. And adjust the mappool, that is not good.
I do get the frustration, but Redbull Wololo started has an AoE2 only tournament. I'm pretty sure AoE4, AoE1 and AoM are only there because Microsoft sponsors them and there prize pools. Also AoE3 is not there, wonder why...^^
@@MasterSilvergreen youre right, and no aoe4 fan would be mad about 2 having center stage and the bigger price pool. Seeding a champ from 2 years ago into grand finals is still a bad move. Seed ML into top 4 and have three matches on site would be the reasonable compromise i feel.
This qualifiers system is ridiculous, considering some top players have secondary accounts. This would make it possible for them to "transfer" ELO points (losing deliberately) from there secondary accounts to their teammate's accounts.
All games can easily be tracked in aoe2 through various websites, if anybody tries thta he can easily be exposed and probably banned
@@izyanjamal7717You don't have to be obvious, you can just play suboptimal to enhance your opponent's chances. That's harder to track...
@@MrFedexfefo people know how people play at what elo, and if someone random ends up in the top 4 he will definitely be severely checked
using secondary accounts is banned regardless of intention and will lead disqualification for the player.
