  • Hello everyone, welcome back to Bapamas Kitchen. Today, we will show you how to make a simple, healthy, and traditional recipe for Undi, a breakfast dish enjoyed in many households across South India. Join us on a culinary journey as we unravel the simple yet magical world of Undi, a steamed rice dish that warms hearts and fills bellies across South India.
It is a steamed rice dish made with commonly available ingredients, to be eaten along with a syrup made of jaggery or some curry that is left over from yesterday. It is quick and easy to make, very healthy and filling and is among the best options for breakfast.
The fluffy rice balls bursting with flavor, infused with the earthy aroma of urad dal and the delicate crunch of fenugreek seeds. Undi is more than just breakfast; it's a celebration of comfort, a legacy passed down generations, and a testament to the magic of transforming everyday ingredients into a nourishing delight.
    INGREDIENTS:
    180 Grams of Rice Rava
    2 Teaspoons Urad Dal
    1 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds (Sasam)
    1 Teaspoon Fenugreek Seeds (Methi)
    1 Tablespoon coconut oil
    Salt to taste
    FOR JAGGERY SYRUP (3 servings):
    80 Grams Jaggery, Grated
    1/2 cup Water (150 ml)

Thank you Bappamma, for your lovely Undies Recepie!! I am a Chitrapur Saraswat Brahmin, but I love the G.S.B.Konkani too! I love your Bappama's style of explanation,as she said she explains so well that even a newly wedded lady will understand well. I liked her verbs bharsuka, & rakkouka ! The vessel in which Undies are made is Peddavan,! We (CSB) call Atti for this vessel. Nice explanation Bappama! Godda rus or godda paak is a nice accompaniment for Unddies. Very yummy !!!❤❤

Yess, we also do similar stuff in Tamilnad, but we don’t put fenugreek. Curry leaves n hing add special flavour. Add little ghee also for additional flavour.
The only difference is the jaggery dip. Kids would love this. In that also can add, dry ginger instead of pepper, and cardamom.
      Nice watching an yummy item.

How sweet! Really enjoyed watching this video. I love Konkani food and the explanation was so clear. Loved the enthusiasm with which aunty was explaining each step. Have promptly subscribed to your channel. Looking forward to more recipes. And the steamer is awesome. Is it available online?
