I remember never being able to beat “Bert & Ernie, hosts of the end times” on the hardest difficulty. It’s cool that someone finally posted this online to show me what the ending looks like

@@dagobahstudios3662 The final mission always messes up the run. They made the final boss ridiculously overpowered on the hardest difficulty.

Everything that comes earlier drains your resources since you get less than normal (because why should a harder difficulty do anything but lower the resources you get) so you spend so much more on earlier sections, resorting to you being near empty at the end
The only consistent way to win is to stock up healing items and spam melee attacks at the boss, since he only uses his slow attack when you are close to him, which just happens to be slow enough for a medkit to be used
Such a dumb fight, but I’m glad the dlc fixed the issues with difficulty

The bombs in the distance grew deafening, but in Bert's final moments all he heard was Ernie's wheezing laughter. Bert knew it would be okay, the joy of his best friend was everything he could ask for as the end envoloped them.
The bombs ended millions of civilians, animals, new families that just started their new lives, the homeless as they freak out but some decided to embrace the last moments of life as they shared one final hug with anyone near as some pushed them and ran while some did hugged them back as the epicenter of the blast killed the first hundreds of thousands of unfortunate souls.
Those who weren't burned that fast outside the center of the bomb had second and third degree burns as they tried to move in such agony. Many who have died, they were now free from their mortal bodies as they passed into the afterlife. Ernie and Bert died as they hugged it out; knowing it was the end as Russia sent the bombs to major cities in America to cripple their power, but Ernie and Bert just expected the end as the best of friends despite their differences sometimes.
Many centuries later, the world begins to heal as most of the population have died due to Russia and America's pride and stubbornness on who will be the next Great Britain of the century. The few who did survive were lucky living in Peru or places where not many countries cared about. They began to rebuild after billions of civilians and many animals died too. One small child went to the same studio that Ernie and Bert were in all those centuries ago. He found the two holding each other as they hugged it out as the nuclear blast ripped them alert. The little boy found a piece of paper that was important, it was a letter that Ernie had if the negotiations were peaceful instead of full on destruction.
"My dearest Bert, it has come to my decision that I always saw you as more than a friend, you were a brother i never really had. Your optimism made things better even if I wasn't always cheerful. I am glad I had you as a roommate for many years, however, I wished we could have been adopted or even blood. But alas, it wasn't meant to be. I will always cherish each moment with you.
Love, Ernie"
The little boy cried his eyes out knowing even after all the darkness and destruction by the corrupt politics and leaders that always hated the population with such hate, there was still always love even in odd places. He took the note and decided to spread such positive thoughts as the new generations of people to come to not be the ones from the past and keep going through life.

I like this one. Keeping their spirits as high as they could in the last moments. I imagen they stayed on air as they spoke the last words. Ending their career as they always had it going: With a friendly little joke as they always enjoyed making them.

And to exchange one last joke between the two, I don’t think they’d want to go out any other way together.

The joke between them was the only one they could make however. As thier final song played and they saw the Shockwave of smoke approach them Ernie and Bert smiled.
It was an act of defiance. A final obscene gesture that needed no words.
The was no final thoughts between them as thier building was destroyed in the explosion.
Dying on your own terms is the last middle finger you can give to this uncaring and cruel world

I saw the community post for this and i have to say, the ending was hilarious. Definitely worth making the finshed part, as it adds a little comedy to the dark story
To be fair, previous ending was also pretty damn good, but I have to admit it was missing Bert and Ernie spirit to it, so I'm glad to hear them keep not only true to themselves, but to each other.
This when thinking about it is kinda sad, but also heart warming and peaceful at the same time. If I go out, Im going out like a goober, the way God intended.

The most heartbreaking part of this is that we all saw the punchline coming, but we wanted it anyway. Kind of like how when we hear the sirens announcing the bombs, there's a small, morbid part of us that just wants to get it over with. Funny how two things as different as bad jokes and death somehow share that characteristic.
That ending is both hilarious but, in a different tone, absolutely fucking horrifying.

And despite always hating Berts stupid jokes, I visualize in the end, Bert actually smiled at Enie's final joke, was it because it was funny how Enie still cracked a joke despite the situation? Or was it the nostalgic feeling, and the knowledge that it would the last time he would get to hear Enie's idiot puns? Bert didnt knew but he could feel for the first time in 20 years his mouth forming in a little smile because of one of them

You son of a bitch, I was actually resigning myself to a bittersweet and beautiful one-liner. That delivery combined with the explosion sfx immediately after had me bursting out laughing. Well done.
You’d expect something extremely immoral considering it’s Bert and Ernie but instead you get a tragic but wholesome ending.

I rolled my eyes at the end, but really? That's how I'd want to go, hearing one last crappy zinger from my best friend.
Bert went with dignity, but I like to think he also went with a smile.
It took bert 20 years to come around, but in that last instant, before the shock wave of the explosion vaporized them in a nanosecond, Bert’s stoic expression faltered, and he finally chuckled a resigned laugh at Ernie’s joke for the first and last time.
And so came the end of man. Not with a bang, but with a joke. A joke so bad, it was hilarious. Truly the best end humanity could have hoped for.
Hearing their actual voices gave me a good laugh, great narration.
I was expecting a beautiful answer- not to laugh like a hyena.

Love this. One wonders what you would do at the end. Too many things to do that cant get done. Too many things to say that can't be said.
To condense all of that into a moment. And then to take humor, and the ordinary. Rather than fear. Rather than despair. Humor because what else is left.
So you choose the only meaningful thing. Trying to make your friend laugh one last time over the life of memories that bind you.
One last meal, one last drink. It seems like men on facing the inevitability of certain death reckon with the peace they have lost in life by letting go. Enjoying that last taste of life.

In a series of quite edgy and dark jokes that is the bertstrip subreddit, this was by far the finest and well written strip i have ever seen.

I can't believe a heavily reformatted Sesame Street joke made me laugh to the point of tears in public. People asked what was so funny, and I couldn't hope to tell them, which just made it even funnier and I had my own private Joker Bus moment as people slowly turned away.

Bertstrips are one of my favoreite genres of images. People find a random Sesame Street frame and write a cynical short story inspired by it. I love when beautiful creativity can manifest in the stupidest of places
