When idiots demand fealty from their superiors, don't be shocked if they refuse. I'm sorry, but you first need a society they believe in before they are willing to defend it. Money doesn't matter to them, stability does. Money doesn't buy stability when the money machine go brrr, corporations gobble up all the real estate, banks deny you access to your bank account, mainstream media runs your name through the dirt, and the courts extort you. Why would someone intelligent protect that?
Even the offer of power is mute, because quite frankly you end up surrounded by people you detest and loathe for an illusion of control. But let's say they do accept the offer. The first thing they're gonna do is eliminate their political opposition, not because they want more power, but simply because they're too corrupt and stupid to be trusted.
You know, there's something in the Bible about 144,000 virgins taking control of the Earth under Jesus's leadership...maybe that should be a rule: Only virgins can lead, because continuing their gene pool is not a factor in their decisions, stability and relative comfort is.

Well, not like this, it's made up.
However you can run sims on paper where you both make input and the instructors act as judges whether things are possible. This is roughly what this story is based on.
This allows you to quickly run a dozen or so scenarios within a day and come up with evolving plans.
The risks are 1 instructors judgements may be wrong (such as the 'insurgent lord' keeping contact with dispersed troops, doesn't happen in reality) and them dismissing genuine opfor options, OR incorrectly accepting opfor options as viable when they're not.
And 2, wargaming like that can lead to character-responses, by that I mean you don't react based on the information, but based on you knowing the other vaandrig (or insert other branches' ranks) as a person, and based on their previous responses. Which is why you typically rotate, OR do a 'blind session' where you don't know who plays opfor.
The alternative is wargaming in reality which is basically a combined arms excersize. You typically want this since it gives you much experience coordinating, and it's much more realistic. You can have simulated ammunition and the MILES system for 'real shooting'. It has its limitations, but if you do something cheeky (more than one recruit typically has the idea to tape up his laser receivers and become invulnerable) instructors just kill you with the 'god gun'.
When that happens casualties are simulated and for example four guys are told they are now immobile casualties and the rest leaves.
ISAF deployment was however well understood in advance, and it got f*cked exclusively for political reasons. The politicians were told "This is how we win" and they said no. Then one heroic guy broke regs and went out by himself to fix things, well that cost him his career and even going to the press made zero impact other than him getting to tell a newspaper "I told you so."
I like him and he's got more balls than me, but he got discharged over it and in the end Donald Vladimirovich Trump would suggest surrender to the Taliban like the little rapist coward that he is, so none of it matters in the end.

Every failure from the Battle for Chora to basically ending up intel-blind was a political decision taken in opposition to all military advice.
Sometimes very creative solutions were devised. Such as OP Poentjak being used to 'plug the hole' if you will.
Mandate only says defensive fighting, but we must hunt down insurgents offensively as tactical imperative? The politicians are too weak and dumb to sanction offensive fighting?
We'll put down an OP so obvious that they MUST fire at it the second they enter the valley, and then we have been engaged and we can engage in turn 'defensively'.

Yeah, that strange hexagon ball thingy with little stub legs and holes that archeologists keep finding EVERYWHERE and don't understand what is? That's a multi-size pottery, bowl, jug, and vase holder. Look at how the bottoms of some pottery is REALLY thin, to the point that it's dangerous to stand them up on their own. I compare them to how we use wooden pallets to hold goods. They are just as common in the ancient world as wood pallets are in our day, and the mundane purpose would explain why there are no texts about it.
I believe that you can also use these doohickeys to help stack pottery tightly into a ship or wagon without damaging it. Pots and jugs were used to hold all kinds of goods, so it'd only make sense they'd find an efficient way to stack them. So, why haven't I brought this to the archeological community as an autist? Because to even talk to them you need a degree.
It's funny how the academic types can't figure out what a blue collar working autist can. I came to my conclusions on the doohickey via realizing that abundance plus lack of explanation meant its purpose must be especially mundane, and there isn't a more mundane purpose than logistics. It's even more mundane than sanitation, because at least you can be motivated to complain about sanitation.

If they find out a person is autistic they should psychologically evaluate them on a case by case basis. Some people have rather severe autism which would certainly disqualify them from the army or other lines of works, but other times the person's autism is milder and just ends up in a slightly quirky person who could work in that organisation just fine.

Few days later in the early morning of 1 March 1949, dutch military in yogyakarta got completely destroyed by indonesian forces and yogyakarta city then liberated. This sending shock to dutch leaders both in batavia and netherland that their huge forces in yogyakarta are being destroyed by indonesian forces that fight using bow, spear, machete and broken japanese gun. Then in april 1949 in UN assembly meeting, dutch delegation receiving alot of mockery from every UN member countries.
