1. Machrotech isn't free to play! I have no idea how me or the people watching missed this. The evocation wizard has been updated with Primal avatar instead, with the same reasoning as using it on blight caster.

Super build, running it now on season 9, so far working out perfect. Only change i would do is to grab shield mastery instead of armor combatant, since using shield all the time anyways. Couple more prr with tower shield and some melee power and D strike. Only a minor change though.. Ty for your build postings... 👍

blightcaster slaps so fucking hard i just wish it had something like chain lightning or delayed blast fireball. so many of the spells are set and forget type spells that relying on thorn wave and acid blast for muscle memory reactions to fat stacks of mobs always leads to a bit of panic for me
Once you get to level 17, I find that Tsunami is the way to go. Sure you need cold spell power, and it did get nerfed, but the damage is still strong and the cc very useful even at nominally 6 seconds. Going T5/C6 SH bags you +2 max caster levels = +2d6+9 cold and +2d6+9 bludgeoning (impulse) damage (+10%). I love that spell.

My vote goes in for Dark Hunter.
It can be ranged or Melee, has better than average heals, gets a fairly useful pet, and DISARMS TRAPS. Useful class tree lets it get around bad/low stats with Lupine Instincts adding Wilderness Lore to Search and Disable Device.
Mix and match with a +2 net stat race like Dragonborn or Tiefling (keeping it f2p), and you've got yourself a winner.
It's what carried me through the last Hardcore league and may well do so again.

I think I'll try your Wistani EK SDK premium build for HCS9, as it looks interesting and fits the class archetype I usually play in RPGs. Would you recommend any others over this as a new player, e.g. Blight Caster? I've made modest progress up to Ravenloft as a solo Alchemist using a variation of your Alchemist build, so won't be rushing through any content beyond this with groups.
I am an experienced noob, who reads a lot of the posts and builds. For the Blightcaster, I am leaning towards T5 and 6th core in Season's Herald rather than BC; +2 max caster levels and better survivability with SH's Winter's Heart. Though I do see the advantages of stripping acid immunity (as well as poison) by going full into BC, plus a very nice T5 AoE SLA, I think both are viable.
are the monk class any good? I seldom, almost never meet monks in the game at the hardcore level.

Should you reset the blightcaster enhancements at 20 to take the acid SLAs instead of the thorn ones?
Really shouldnt need slas by 20 imo. points are better spent reducing meta costs and else where.
Reset as soon as you get acid well. Do not take any acid SLA, because they are worthless. You will still want the enhancement that has your spikes doing double damage. In epic standing in this will heal you after you get the destiny enhancement. I would also farm An Element of Chaos for the acid scepter, because then you truly will be a god in late game heroics. Obviously, in epic get the acid scepter from borderlands turn-in.
@@JK-pp2xl So don't spend any points in the SLA line in the Blightcaster tree after resetting and re-spend those points in the Blightcaster tree again or Seasons Harold? I was just wondering if having them as a backup in low SP situations might not be somewhat good?

Surprised sorc isn't on here. Having the ability to make everything immune to your spells is why I love the sorc so much. The way to survive is to hide behind a tank.
As a new casual player i see no point in playing hard core
Actually, there are a few good reason for new players to play:
1. This is great challenge and fun.
2. Especially if you are a new player, this is your chance to shine and play with people when you all start at the same starting point and they wont carry you with their 190 past live, +8 tomes, pre-acquired best gear and 100 reaper points.
3. HC server will give you a chance to play with so many more players than you can play with at your home server, you won't even recognize the game. You can find LFM for every level at every hour, every LFM you will post will fill in a minute or less. This is what DDO should look like.
4. The cosmetics reward are great fun and show your achievement in the game so why not.

Yeah I felt the same way, until they had a reward I really wanted. I didn't succeed in getting it but I ended up having so much fun anyway. After dying a lot I managed to make it to level 20 and got a consolation prize though. You do get to keep and transfer your character once it's over so it's not for nothing.
for your dwarven fighter, perfect two handed fighting feat doesnt include dwarven war axe for some reason. or does it?
The dwarf looks looks like it slaps, guess I'll be running a dwarf on Hardcore yet again! 💪🪖🛡️
