To be fair, Cartoon Network isn't making that seemingly simple task that easy.
Also.... That's a funny thing for someone who calls himself a "critic" to say....

@@The5armdamput33 You know, in his episodes of Nostalgia Critic he always seems to be more of one side than the other. But in the end of the reviews, he gives his neutral point of view of what he saw. Just look at the ones of Disneycember for example, all is neutral.
did you know a very decent amount of the views on the show come from the haters who just want to watch it to make fun of it online? if everyone who hates the show stopped watching it a very decent chunk of viewers would be missing and that would in turn cause CN to air it less. if you want it to air less stop watching it.

Well the true reason people dislike TTGO is because TT story arc was left unfinished. And many people wanted to know what happened next. And instead of being treated to a faithful comeback and answers to those questions we got waffles.

Lowlightt well it was meant to end with “the end” trilogy but the 5th season was tacked on probably because of money so we probably won’t get an answer as trouble in Tokyo follows “the end” trilogy

Teen Titans was also a show for kids, but it was able to do so much more than Teen Titans Go. It didn't speak down to its audience and it was able to handle heavy topics and make it understandable for kids. It talked about friends drifting apart, abusive relationships, and even handled racism in an episode and to see such a great show become THIS just breaks my heart.
Damn.
Have you actually seen an episode of teen Titans go
@@diannezurcher4529people especially fans of the original have every reason to hate go.while its not the worst dc product of all time(though it's definitely in my top 3 hated dc series and even batman & robin gets close to being good by comparison to go at times.)i'd take the worst of new spongebob during 2008-2016 over go. i have seen the 1st few seasons and its pretty shit honestly.there are a few good moments(i actually like ravens design as well as jinx and i do like they went out of the way to bring the old voice actors back as well as the titans getting their asses kick by batmans villains while reminding how much of a badass alfred is.:3) but it's completely on the wrong, bad way of self abuse that comes less looney tunes/animaniacs and just mostly immature, bratty, petty deserving of hate and not learning from mistakes(especially with the crossover with the just as shit thundercats roar and insulting thundercats fans, you dont continue with doing bad after seeing backlash you take what was good and get rid of what was bad which this series fails hard at.it's basically if instead of sonic 2 after sonic 1 we got sonic 06 and they continued with that which they honestly did with sonic boom:rise of lyric and sonic forces.)this show needs to end/be cancelled and dc focus on being good while actually listening to their smarter fans that know. honestly with the new ninja turtles my problem is more it kinda gave me a bit of burnout after seeing the other series not too long.not helping is the fact that cartoon network shelved other better shows like ok k.o & sonic boom(which has better writing humor and self deprecating humor that doesn't act like bratty apologist to fans and just has funny references to all its media in a jovial playful way.also the fact it mania, the shorts, the movie, and its crossover appearances were the only good things about sonic in the 2010's as sonic on the wii u was shit and forces just showed sonic team had no idea what to do with sonic outside of listening to idiotic fans that think dark stuff in sonic is still a good idea when its plainly crystal clear its not.) to shove it down our throats when its clear people hated it,not insulting fans when the series deserves its hate, having an unnecessary amount of episodes,(teen titans go should not be 200 episodes long that's stupid as shit.)not taking the entire runtime of days on cartoon network(when they could be showing their other actually good/way better older shows.),season 6 of the original series being put on hiatus despite teasing it(there's no reason too and makes dc look like immature jackasses for not bringing their better show back to get some of the haters off their back and make fans happy.) and being another insult to dc when it already has a lot of problems with this being the worst and the biggest case of the "it's just for kid's" counter being stupid and having no ground at all.(apologist terms like that give more reason that you and your kids are dumb, idiots with no taste than speaking for the majority.kids can take heavy concepts but in different ways and depending on the kid but this series doesnt do that so people telling teen titans go fuck you have just as much deserved reason to as fans that see some charm in it.)also fuck beast boy, cyborg and robin(worst, most pathetic unfunny, crap incarnation of him in dc.i'd take batman & robins version over him anyday.) in go their the worst part of it.(though starfire reaches super unfunny too dumb to live at times.)
Of course we all have to admit, TTG is gold compared to Thundercats Roar. God what an insult.
Teen titans go is better
In my opinion they should've just made a new show instead of using teen titans I dont think the go was really bad but I cant watch it because it always feels like a slap in the face to the old fans
I think the same, TTG can be a nice and funny show but it's depressing to see such a good characters changed like this. They use the popularity of their names and i think this is the reason why TT fans hate TTG
I agree. This show's Silliness probably wouldn't be such a big deal if they just used original Characters instead of recycling old ones.
Kind of like with thunder cats roar
Yeah I feel like it could be a stand alone show, cuz it’s actually not that bad. They could’ve done this without using Teen Titans. Probably.

Well, TTG did one good thing: I accidentally watched one episode and remembered I knew the characters from somewhere... So I rediscovered original TT and that was awesome.
Teen Titans was a story. It dealt with complex issues with well written characters and an intriguing narrative
Teen Titans Go is jingling keys in front of your kids face
I understand it's a kids show (hell, so was the OG Teen Titans), but it ticks me off because it shows the attitude studios have towards kids. Avatar was a kid's show too, and it still treated kids like they were smarter than farts and meta humor.
I honestly dig the idea of "what do superheros do in their time not superheroing", but to take beloved characters from a franchise so adored and turn them into idiots, you could've just created new characters to put in this show and had the same thing.

"These characters were not designed for this show" - THANK YOU! Finally someone gets it. And how their personalities are all the same, while they were very different originally
And that's why the Teen Titans Shorts (DC Shorts) were pretty good. Because while it focused on comedy, the art was the the same as 2003 but the personalities stayed pretty intact. Like the one short where Raven's father visit her at Titans tower and gives her a bunny and she destroys it.

As a fan of the original, Teen Titans GO seemed like a cash grab. They took characters that already had a loyal fan base and used that fact to market a brand new show that wasn't just unlike the original but spat in the face of the fans. It seems to be the MO for studios now. Take a well known IP, use the existing fan base to build it up, distort the IP until it is unrecognizable, then blame the fans when the new version gets rightfully lampooned.
Well they're not making money from the old fan base, or are they, if they were then it's definitely your own fault
@@mrbust999 No they aren't, but they used the popularity of the original show to market this new show. Thereby exploiting the original fan base.
@@Doc-Holliday1851 first off, it's taking advantage not exploiting, but if you want them to stop exploiting you, then just stop parading the show so that no one else can know about it.
+Charaykee Shilla Literally the first synonym listed for the term "exploiting" is "take advantage of". Secondly, I don't parade anything. I don't consume content I don't like. The most I will do in terms of interacting with IP I don't like will be to share my opinion that I don't care for it. If you're parading something you are trying to gain attention or otherwise flaunt something. Unless a person won't shut up about or uses pop-culture to their advantage, simply having an opinion on it can hardly be considered parading.
@@Doc-Holliday1851 you misunderstand I'm referring to the original previous Teen Titans
Teen Titans Go! wouldn't get nearly as much hate if it wasn't on tv ALL THE DAMN TIME! It's not a bad series. But it's drowning out anything and everything else on CN. It's too popular for it's own good. And arguable to say that it was never really that popular, but the network just wanted their own SpongeBob.
so its the shows fault for being successful with its main demographic?
That's like saying movie theaters should play nothing but Infinity War in every screen until the next MCU movie.
It's also kind of a falsehood for CN to claim that TTG is the currently most highest rated show, when they act like it's their only show they have.
Ligtning Dog What, your tv only has one channel?
Sparky Dood Because of how a number of networks try to spam a single show all the time, I haven't really watched too much tv. But Cartoon Network is as specially bad with it.
Why do I now want “Three Stooges: End Game”
Same
Honestly I want to see Silly stuff.
Hey Moe, hey Larry! I don't feel so good...
I definitely agree with the ultimate conclusion: Teen Titans Go wouldn't be NEARLY as bad if it was its own show with its own characters and NOT a "remake" of an older show with a different genre and more nuanced storytelling. If its characters were unique to it, it would be fine. Because they're not, it feels like it's shitting all over the original.
I got an answer for you, Doug. We end up watching it because its always on! The schedule has calmed down with the constant spamming of TTG reruns that we put up with a short time ago but it still takes over the channel. I haven't had a genuine desire to watch CN in almost a year beyond TiVo recordings of new episodes to other shows and to have noise in the background when I'm playing a game because more often than not its TTG thats on and worse then that its usually the same few episodes on repeat for about a month before they switch it up. Trying to get back into watching CN to see if any of the new shows are any good but I swear I can't just leave it on all day like I used to
I agree with you 100%. Also I still can`t get over how bad they screwed over Regular Show before their series finale.
With all of the other channels on television and the advantage of netflix and the internet, that excuse can only go so far. It's good that you don't watch CN so much anymore. The only thing CN-related worth watching now is Toonami and of course it's dumping ground, Boomerang.
This. In college, I liked listening to cartoons as background noise and tried to get into some shows like Steven Universe, Gumball and Adventure Time, but Teen Titans Go was ALWAYS on. If I wanted to see a show, I had to wait through a two hour block of TTG and then my show was followed by another 2 hour block of it. I did not hate this show, but I got so freaking tired of seeing itand it's same played out jokes, I wound up just turning off CN all together.
disneygirl884 For real. Thank goodness that Adventure Time has a marathon coming on Labor Day to rap up the end of the series
Yeah at least Cartoon Network is giving Adventure Time respect. After a very long time Cartoon Network finally did something right
Can't we all just agree that The Amazing World of Gumball is seriously underappreciated as far as shows on cartoon network go?
Yes! finally someone who knows that the best show isn’t “Trauma and Singing equals character development” (Steven Universe)
Andrew Kim , basically half of CN shows post Adventure Time , Gumball is a blessing between the cheap stupidity of TT: Go and the pretentiousness of AT and his clones .
Totally agree with you, dude. Gumball is a modern masterpiece.

New: humor, humor, no personality, slice of life, treats dark subjects like its the plauge
A show that focuses mainly on comedy, has little plot, and doesn't bother with dark subjects can still be good. Tell me how TTG is bad at what it tries to do.
Isobel Miller it’s sucks deal with it
@@zekehd2093 I'm not saying TTG is good; I used to be a fan of it, but not anymore. I just hate how people judge it for not teaching serious morals and stuff like that. It tries to be a stupid comedy, therefore it should be judged as one.
Isobel Miller I like Original Teen Titans but do I hate the fans. All they do is compare the show to TTG and it gets so annoying
Well they made a crappy choice making it, I rather watch the live action Disney movies
to quote Nostagia Critic's Ghostbusters 2016 review: If a movie (in this case show) was enough to ruin your childhood, then you barley had one to begin with.
TTG didn't ruin my childhood, because thankfully I have memories of how amazing the original Teen Titans was. I just feel bad for the little kids who grew up thinking TTG was an accurate representation of the comics; especially nowadays when comic book movies are trending more toward darker or at least more complex storylines. Imagine going from "tee hee, WAFFLES!!" to "Jason Todd took a crowbar to the dome , Batman's parents were shot in front of him, Iron Man was an alcoholic/is dying/died to save humanity, and Superman is an orphan whose planet blew up." At least WE had TT to ease us into the harsh stuff. Kids who grew up on TTG were thrown into the deep end without a floatie.
One of the biggest problems with this video is that it entirely ignores one of the biggest issues with TTG, which is how the network treats it. TTG is pretty much the single most promoted show they've done in years. This would be annoying if it was just merchandise and idents and such, but it'd be something that could be easily ignored. But with TTG there's literally cases of it being practically the only show on for days at a time. I'm not trying to exaggerate here, TVTropes has it's own page for TTG in the 'Adored by the Network' trope, which lists examples of this, with up to fourteen straight hours of TTG, and cases of up to six straight hours of the same single episode.
Now, I haven't been watching for a while, but admittedly it does seem better than it was (TVTropes talks about it being more like five hour blocks now, which is still a lot, but not as bad as nine hour blocks), but that kind of thing cannot help but have an impact. Especially in the beginning where beloved shows like Young Justice were being bumped off for something as vapid as TTG. Combine this with a lot of the meta humour mentioned in the video being very meanspirited early on in the show's run and it's hardly a surprise that people would end up absolutely loathing this, since it comes across as a big middle finger from both the network and showrunners.
I mean... I don't think how the network treats the show should affect the comparison between the two
I think he's talking about the part where Doug finds it odd that the old fans still seem to even care about said show- because it's true, if you dislike something, just ignore it completely.
The issue is, if you still have a certain love for cartoons and continue to keep track with them, TTGo isn't really something you can avoid, when one of the big networks is absolutely shoving it onto people's faces. It's a matter of The-Elephant-In-The-Room, it's not just some new show-up to be quietly disappointed on until it fades.
Honestly... what can be said? TTGo is an okay show, with good writing. It's simple for sure, but kids don't care about the depth of a show until they start to grow up along with it. No, the thing is that for this case, and simply by the design they have chosen, TTGo is going to inevitably disrespect the source material it's taking as inspiration. With extra "merit" given to the _very_ mean-spirited meta humor used in the beginning of its run-time, in the end... the burn from that way they have treated the old love fans had, it ends up going quite deep.
Mix those two paragraphs together, and you have this kind of situation.
I'll tell ya what could be worse: if the original show ended without resolving a major plot point that was not only an engaging mystery, but an emotional pillar of the final season. Good thing that sort of travesty never occurred... twice...
it is irrelevant how CN treats it. that doesn't effect the shows quality itself.
and they obviously do it because its making them money, did you know a very decent amount of the views on the show come from the haters who just want to watch it to make fun of it online? if everyone who hates the show stopped watching it a very decent chunk of viewers would be missing and that would in turn cause CN to air it less. if you want it to air less stop watching it.
Super Isaiah "Shut. The fuck. Up." ~Penn
This is a bullshit fallacy and it never works. "if you don't like it, don't see it" can be used on just about EVERYTHING. EV. ER. Y. THING. Oh, don't like Star Wars The Last Jedi? Then don't go seeing it.
And yes, the way a network treats a show can greatly affect its quality. The show itself is OK and it is occasionally funny for real reasons other than fetish fuels and stupid jokes, but let's take this into another example.
I love crab legs. I absolutely do. However, if I spent every day, every hour, every waking moment eating nothing but crab legs, I'll eventually get sick and tired of crab legs and hate them. With how much CN has been pushing the show (literally, there have been times it was the ONLY show running for full days at a time; no shit), it easily fatigues the content and it gets extremely tiring.
Wanna know why it's making money? Just look at what I said: they're literally making it become (almost) the ONLY show that airs, except for the occasional movie and/or new episode for a show (and even then, they RARELY advertise them).
So no, just because it's bad doesn't mean I should avoid it. That fallacy shit is why shit quality shit is getting shat out by the day (Star Wars, video games, books, and politics, need I go on?). STOP it with that argument. Seriously.
Here's something almost nobody brings up.
Original _Teen Titans_ : *TV-Y7*
_Teen Titans Go_ : *TV-PG*
So, by that logic, and definition, TTG should have been more mature (right on par with _Adventure Time_ and _Steven Universe_ ). It's kind of ironic how the original show (made for 7-year-olds) is much more adult compared to the current show (made for a slightly older audience).
You are conflating "failing at maturity" with "not trying to be mature." By which I could then argue, the original Teen Titans is terrible because it was too mature for its intended audience,. Each show was aiming for a different tone and as Doug said, a different ratio of serious/silly.
Y7 doesn't mean made for 7 year-olds. It means 7 year-olds are old enough to watch it by the nebulous standards of the ratings overlords.
Wow...
Swiftbow That's fair.
Ryan Hartwell don't compare it to Steven universe! That show is fucking well designed wonderful stories (except the shitty uncle grandpa crossover) covered difficult subjects like lesbian characters (yet the British censorship dumbasses tried to make ruby a male and look how that turned out!), difficult stories and wonderful character development
1:35 Well.., the original Titans Tower of the Comics was within the state of New York, and Metropolis is part of the state of New York, so I suppose you meant that one. But with respect to the Titans Tower specifically of the universe of the TTG series, that one is near of a city named "Jump City", which is also in the state of California. However, Jump City does not exist in TT (2003), since the name of the city near of that Titans Tower is never mentioned or specified in that series, but the film Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo, confirmed that the Tower of it is also in the state of California.
nerd
I think Jump city was mentioned in the comics they made for the 2003 show.
Metropolis is actually in Delaware
Edit: and before you ask, Gotham is in southern New Jersey
The End, the season 4 finale of TT, haunts me to this day. It is a heartbreaking 3-parter that is such a masterclass in storytelling and character that I can't help but think about it every week or so, 17 years later.
Teen Titans Go would be liked more if in the U.S. it didn't make up the majority of Cartoon Network's schedule. That's irritating no matter what the quality of the show.
Thanks Hermione I’m not sure if it would have been liked more, but I think it could have been more tolerable if it wasn’t the only thing that they air.
it the the same in the UK too with TTG yet they have hiatuses for adventure time and steven universe
Agreed. I could watch the show for...maybe an hour: four episodes. It's not the one I loved, but it's often funny, and I can get into it to waste some time. But the 6 hours a day thing was (is? I don't know if they're still doing it) ridiculous.
I like to say doubt it. If I remember correctly back then they made marathons for shows lasting the whole day.. or until late at night like 11?
Literally from 7am to 10pm only Dexter's Laboratory, Powerpuff Girls, (insert good cartoons here).
I cringe more than I laugh when watching this, the only reason it's popular it's because kids like it. And sadly they don't know what a good cartoon is as for the most part the shows they like *are mostly* made and appeal to kids only.
True, I don't want Gravity falls blaster 24/7 and I like that show. I watched the movie and it was genuinely funny.
I feel like the biggest problem people have with this show is that it used the same lineup from the 2003 version, and changing some stuff around. Something Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles avoided by making their version a brand new iteration, rather than the same voice actors and characters from one of the past ones.
On another note, It's good to see another Old vs New, it's been a while!
Raptorus77 I think once he did the fuller-produced reviews every other week against editorials and mini-reviews, he tries to make it a yearly occurrence. But now that he’s doing reviews every week (fuller and lesser-produced alternating) it MIGHT increase again but who knows
what about sinnoh?
That's a very good point that often goes unaddressed, if this show isn't made for the fans of the original TT series, then why make the show with the same designs, cast the same voice actors, and use so many elements from the original show ? The little kids who are apparently the real target demographic would have no knowledge of who these characters are or why, and the people who do know who these characters are are being told they're too old for this series.
Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles looks like a mindless cartoon reboot

EXACTLY! HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO ENJOY OTHER CARTOON NETWORK SHOWS IF ALL THE NETWORK IS AIRING IS ONE CARTOON?
enterman Use the internet like literally everyone else in the current year does
This is why I think TTG has such a bad rep. It isn't as horrible as people build up in their heads. If it aired maybe a tenth of the times it does, it wouldn't be trashed nearly as hard. Like the Critic said, the OG is better, but not by as much as people believe.
Through piracy...:D
TFS said it best. "Nobody ruined your childhood. The Teen Titans you liked is still on DVD."
Whenever TTG comes on, I swear there is nothing else on the TV playing.
The reason why ppl keep watching it is because it's the only thing on if you go turn on your tv I bet it's teen titans go

I can attest to this, any time I turned on my TV to CN, unless it's the Saturday Toonami block, it's always been airing TTG.
Here's the thing, if TTG wasn't so aggressive with its meta humor no one would be outraged or even care. TTGO goes out of its way to attack the audience and flaunt that the old show isn't around anymore.
Once the original series comes back, which it will due to the TTGO movie's after credits scene, I'm sure the hate will die down once there's an alternative.
oh yeah there was that with the ogs sort of stuck
MrZurata Also, CN needs to open up the schedule a bit
the teen titans go is for kids. It was never intended for the older viewers
People were outraged from the first episode. If anything the meta humor lessened some of the hate. Plus it's honestly gotten better.
I just love the way that the cloths smooths with the wind, you are right, raven and the rest of us agrees that the old one was just awesome
Damn they really messed up the animation style in TTG! Starfire looks malnourished
7:51 wow seriously that’s awesome, the team behind teen titans go are cool people.
I really do not like Teen Titans Go! but I think the main reason for the hatred towards the series is because of the really bad decisions of Cartoon Network in recent years. First they canceled Young Justice and Green Lantern, besides they stopped doing the animated shorts of DC Nation. Sure, then we had Justice League Action, but many fans of comics and action cartoons were really disappointed.
So, Cartoon Network started making cartoons with the same base, like the remakes of Powerpuff Girls and Ben 10. One can argue that these new series are actually worse than Teen Titans Go! because they were made to follow a trend, not because of a desicion of their creatives who wanted to do something different. Again, many fans were angry at what we saw as a lack of respect for those characters.
Finally, Cartoon Network has the bad habit of giving Teen Titans Go! all the damn time. If they use a more organized schedule that would give better series more often, people would not be so fucked up. But instead, they give 4 hours of Teen Titans Go! per day and marathons of 3 days in a row.
Young justice was cancelled because was to expensive, even if the ttgo didnt exist yj was going to be cancelled
The show is a simple humor parody thats why the animation its simple
The reason for the hate: Warner Bros LIED. When the show was announced, the fans were told that the show would be the Teen Titans characters, but in more down to earth, comedic situations. There were even previews that the fans overall really liked. Everyone was SUPER hyped for this new show. And then... We didn't get the Teen Titans. Like Doug said, we got... The same character. Worse than that, each Titan is a mockery of their original. Robin is an overattached psychopath, Raven is and emo putting on a front, if she even bothers pretending, Cyborg and Beast Boy are the exact same person, with zero serious qualities, and Starfire is the most 2-dimensional of them all... This WASN'T the Teen Titans. We were lied to. We were promised steak, and we bit into a chocolate cake... I can appreciate the show for what it is. It CAN be clever at times, and it is somewhat funny. I can also fully understand the abject HATRED old fans of the show have for TTG.
Oh don't even get me started on the new Ben 10. I'm f*cking ballistic about it. They couldn't even put in the old villains except the main one. Ben 10 was a great 3 era series that ended on a high note. Why tf they gotta ruin it those bastards.
Nx57ytre it doesn’t help that newer cartoons are trying to imitate teen titans go
To answer your question Critic, for a while Teen Titans Go was ALL Cartoon Network was showing--you could hardly, if ever, tune in to Cartoon Network without them showing TTG, or promoting the hell out of it. Also, for a so-called 'kids' show', they go out of their way to attack their critics way too often, while portraying their 'heroes' as selfish, unlikable brats who will screw each other over to get what they want.
Demonslayer232 In all honesty though when have you ever seen a good guy who didn't secretly have an agenda? No one in the public eye is good for the sake of being good, I think that TTG is basically showing us that the Titans are like our celebrities. Do you really think they go to kids hospitals and all that stuff because they truely want to? Or are they there to make themselves look good?...
Oh he knows about that. In the last review he did of TTG movie and I think another review, he said he saw that and was surprised by that. There's many reasons to hate TTG to be honest.

They were once playing reruns of Teen Titans at a regular time. It was pretty cool
11:00 explains my sentiment for the shows PERFECTLY.
I kinda always figured it was for a younger audience than I was when I first saw teen titans. It’s also one, while remembered fondly, I’ve seen many kids outgrow it to, whereas with the first teen titans, I see fans go back to it to enjoy.
Personally, I dislike TTG because it's another mindless, colorful, time wasting cartoon that exists almost solely as something for parents to put their children in front of to keep them occupied for an hour. Same reason I didn't like the PPG reboot or any of the last few years of Nickelodeon. I don't hate it, because I literally don't really care enough about it to do so. I loved the original series, and am kind of sad the reboot is such a disappointment, but that's about it. I will, however, acknowledge that that Make-A-Wish thing they did was an incredibly nice thing to do for that kid, and the crew has my admiration for doing that for him.
...OK. I'm going to span this because it seems nobody will let this show fall into obscurity if they keep talk about it: DON'T WATCH THE SHOW!!
Connor Tyler it’s a show made for toddlers, not kids that can comprehend big storylines. Just ignore it.
to be honest, i kind of apreciate that they invited the fan to the show... but he had little to no participation on it (his voice was ... not so good for voiceacting, i get it). but that episode, for me, felt like a blatant pitty-washing from the creators to clean their image: the episode was ALL AROUND TTG fans and how they should love them indiscriminatedly and acritically, and they didn't iclude him in a meaningful way.
Maybe they could've made an episode aluding to the kids condition and how he can live with it (was kidneys' related as far as i remember), or about aceptance of the diferences or... ANYTHING rather than utilizing him for wash their image... for me that episode ws pathetic and rather manipulative...
And you know what's the worst part? i LIKE teen titans go! and find it a silly TT parody and it makes me chuckle here and there because it's 4-wall/parody/ironic tone, but i consider that the lowest the series has done; hell! i dislike TT fans and their stupid zealot attitude towards TTG, (despite i LOVING the original TT, like, bros... it's just a cartoon, get over it nsotalgiafags) but that episode wasn't bad... it was WRONG.
I’m in that same boat. I hate it more for what it represents than what it is. With a 1 year old nephew, he loves this show, and I will admit every once and a while, it makes me chuckle. But shows like this opened way to do the same thing, dumbing down shows like Ben 10 and PowerPuff girls. It’s just a stupid mentality. I’ve also seen haters say that the Make-A-Wish thing was only done to attack haters. But, I haven’t seen the episode so I don’t know how it went.
They did kinda use the make a wish kid in that episode

I don't think Titans is that bad
Just imagine if they brought back Batman: The Animated Series as Batman:TAS GO! with Batman bumbling about and screaming about waffles, and you will understand clearly why fans of the original Teen Titans simply can't stand Teen Titans GO!
well, think about this. the original TT was 50/50 goofy and serious, like avatar. TTGO is full on goofy. what if they did full on dark, which they are doing now it seems with TITANS. so, maybe the TT are meant to be a true dramady.
I hate to break it to you, but in TTG series, they drug Batman through the dirt too.
Good analogy
I would actually love that also there are many versions of Batman that are very different that is how superheroes work.
Avatar is alright but I like TTG better the cartoony cartoons are more fun.
I hope they'll have a 6th season for the 2003. Like they did with Samurai Jack on Adult Swim
Even the Powerpuff Girls tried to warn everyone that you don't want TTG to give you a naughty mind, or having them teach people how to be bullies.
The biggest problem with Teen Titans Go is that it's at its best when using reference humor.
If it's actually good at that then why is it a weakness?
Well you see the show obsesses over pointing out that it's for kids. In reference comedy the audience has to know the reference to enjoy otherwise they'll just be confused and wonder what happened. Kids, being younger, have less experience and are the most likely demographic to not get reference humor.
Their strength is literally being used in the worst way possible.
Add that to a creator who says kids don't need good shows and you have the hallmarks of a poorly ran show. If the thing wasn't played half the day I doubt it would make money.

Unpopular Opinion: The Voice Acting in Go *REALLY* hurts my ears. I swear the characters sound more obnoxious than their original counterparts (With Raven as an exception, but that doesn't mean I like the way she acts in Go.)
I appreciate the respect you showed for both.
I am a fan of the original and was very pissed when ttg came on. But as a matureing adult I'll admit it has good moments. I enjoy a few of the times it makes fun of itself. Personal favorite, the time Control Freak showed them TT. They showed the differences and the characters had good reactions to the changes. It was actually fun to see.
So again thank you for your respect and care.
yea that control freak episode gave me a grudging respect for the show, but then theres redubbing the first episode of OG TT as TTG

@@unoriginalusername6408 I'm just too tired to fight every time someone pisses on a piece of my childhood.
Why fighting over some cartoons? i don't understand why people does that..
I think it's out of pride or appreciation. Kind of like if someone bullies a family member or a close friend. Just replace your friend/family with a pet rock and now everyone involved might as well be on 4chan.
THANK YOU. My number one problem with TTG is that they are all the exact same character. It's always more funny to watch personalities collide and clash, but if they're all the same and give similar reactions to everything, it just gets old and boring. If they kept the comedy while keeping characters at least a little true to their original selves, I think it'd be a much better show.
I wouldn't say the hate TTG gets is unjustified. I think there's a few reasons for it. Like you said, the timing was bad. The biggest insult is that they got ALL of the original voice actors and instead of getting a revival of the original show, their talent is being wasted on this. Imagine if Batman the Animated Series got cancelled in 1995 and in 2000, you got something like Batman: The Brave and the Bold with ALL of the original VAs returning to voice their characters in a childish comedic show of overly meta satire. Maybe if this show came out twenty years later or something, it wouldn't be as big of a deal. But when the possibility of a continuation of something you love is dangled in front of you like a carrot, but out of reach in favor of something clearly lessened in quality, it's frustrating.
That being said, I don't hate Teen Titans Go and while I think it's dumb, it can be fun sometimes and there's actually some interesting ideas in there. But I get the hate.
I agree that ignoring a show is the best way to hurt it where it matters, but that's only if you want it dead and forgotten and never spoken of again. That's not the case with TTG. People hate on it mostly because they want the return of the original, in which case, you very much do need to make your criticism and complaints loud and clear in order for those in authority to get the memo.
It's not just that people hate it. They hate it, but they also WANT something else. So, I wouldn't say it's as simple as "just ignore it."
I believe the outcry is what resulted in the potential revival of the original show that now seems like a possibility. So I think there's still SOME merit to expressing discontentment and dissatisfaction depending on the context.
DON'T WATCH THE SHOW!!
Manuel Alberto Romero But... did you read my actual comment? I quite clearly said I don't hate TTG, but I was just trying to explain why I believe it gets as much hate as it does and why I think, in some contexts, it's a little justified.
Ur Waifu is Shit Well normally, I might agree if this were a random kids show with no connection or ties to a previous franchise that brings our current age of young adults a lot of nostalgia, but this is a case where I think it's more understandable. To have all of the original VAs back from a childhood favorite show only to not get a continuation after a cancellation is understandably frustrating. I'd argue that the adults who complained are what resulted in the potential revival of the original show.
If you want to make the argument that "BUT IT'S FOR KIDS", so was the original Teen Titans.
I never said one is better than the other. If you read my comment, that was not the argument I was trying to make at all. And yes, there's always been dumb kids shows, but just because that's the case, I don't think that's a good excuse. I think people should always push for better quality, no matter what the demographic. Kids deserve better than just shoving anything down their throat and surmising it up to "well it's a kids show, kids r dumb."
And like I said, TTG isn't really just any old kids show. Let's imagine that these were all original characters that had absolutely no connection to the original - I get the feeling people wouldn't give a shit or bat an eye. The problem is that they're taking essentially the same characters from a childhood favorite show and making a 180 out of them. They didn't even really redesign them. For example, replace the characters of Spongebob with characters from Avatar the Last Airbender with all of the original voice actors in a brand new animated series instead of making a follow-up to the unresolved (excluding the comic) plot thread of Zuko's missing mother and people MIGHT have more of a problem. If this was the type of show they wanted to make, they could have at least done their own thing, created their own original superhero characters, and not take advantage of the popularity of something that was once beloved by so many.
But for the record, I don't mind that TTG is a comedy with no character development or drama, I just hate that the characters are all self-centered assholes who make the same jokes. They can't really bounce off each other, unlike the Looney Tunes, which had extremely clever writing where every character is still unique to themselves.
The only difference is that kids with a brain hate this shit show aswell
You definitely hit the nail on the head with the tipping point.
As for, "Why all the hatred?", I think it has to do with how close we all felt to the original characters. We felt so much for them, we thought of them almost as family, and to murder their personalities in favor of often terrible humor was...unforgivable.
So let me get this straight. This show:
A) is on it’s eighth year.
B) successfully outlived the original series.
C) has two films.
D) continues to be CN’s top-rated show.
And still continues to throw potshots at the haters, even knowing that their outrage is too insignificant to actually hurt the show. Hate to break it to you, writers, but YOU’RE INSECURE, not us...
Now it’s over 10 years old…..

Teen Titans Go is like if Avatar: The Last Airbender made a spinoff series of the Super Deformed mini-shorts that aired after the first several premiere episodes of Book 3.

Poor old creators
I actually enjoyed TTG
I think part of the issue is that it's not just 'it's own thing', it's Teen Titans. It's the same voice actors and the same character designs (art style notwithstanding) and the same environment, turned into something that the original never was and using the Teen Titans television brand to ride the original's coattails.
If this were just another wacky comedy with a different set of characters -- even parodies of the television Titans, or at least *different designs* -- it wouldn't be such an issue, it would at least be justified as being its own thing. But it's not. It's explicitly Teen Titans. It's taking advantage of a pre-established fanbase. There's no reason it *had* to be Teen Titans if it going to go off in such a different direction, but it made a very intentional decision to do so. It's absurd to think that it just wanted to do its own thing or it would have been its own IP.
Compare to Ducktales 2017: it's different than the original run, it has a much more modern style, its beats and humor and characterization are done completely differently, but it works because it has the same heart and it respects its history. Or going back a little more, TMNT 2012: it's more modern in its style and references and was met with some trepidation when it was first teased, but it's clear that its creators have a real love of the franchise and not only got the *feel* of the Turtles right, but paid homage to the many different Turtles histories and universes and it's a beloved series. Hell, look at My Little Pony; it's not strictly a reboot, but it was another unexpected franchise revival that was made by people who loved and wanted to do right by the original series.
These reboots felt like they happened because there was something to add to their franchises, because there were stories to tell and they wanted to be told, like somebody had a real idea for a revival and pitched that first (and even if it was a more cynical marketing decision, they still wanted to make something *good*). Things like Teen Titans Go!, meanwhile, feel like an executive was flipping through their IPs and said "Hey, nostalgia! We can make money off this!" The cynicism is palpable. The fact that TTG! is itself so cynical (using entire episodes to misrepresent legitimate complaints and their detractors, their audience, and the original show) just drives the point home.
That, I think, is why people hate TTG! It's not just because the original Teen Titans was given the shaft and its replacement is of such reduced quality, it's that it exists as it does solely to take advantage of its name brand.
...that and Cartoon Network's programming is, like, 87% TTG! by volume and that's really obnoxious I don't care what program you're showing.

*insert gif of the guy clapping* this is EXACTLY the issue
Plus the fact that they changed key aspects of all the characters' personalities (Raven is not always emotionless and is often an idiot, Star mostly exists to mispronounce things and turn down Robin, Robin became obsessed with proving he's the best and is now the butt of like 90% of the jokes because "he's so dark and mysterious" lol Robin ok, and BB and Cyborg are basically carbon copies of each other)

The main problem I have with TTGO it that it was entirely unnecessary... everyone uses the excuse that CN is targeting a certain demographic but that would assume that the demographic they are targeting wouldn't like something along the lines of the original TT... which is BS. It's just another instance of TV networks not having respect for young viewers... the same kids that enjoy TTGO would also enjoy the original it's not like the show was too complex for them... it shows that CN is completely out of touch and don't understand that alot of the past generation of kids(90's kids) never grew out of liking animated entertainment like the generation before them did.... and they are ignoring a huge portion of potential viewers... The thing about Teen Titans is that while it was a kids show it had great writing and good characters enough so that anyone could enjoy it, kids, teenagers and adults which is an example of "good kids show" because even though it knew what it was and the target demographic it never pandered to it or produced terrible work under the guise of "it's for kids" no matter how insulting it is to said kids because kid shows needs quality writing for it to have respect and be treated seriously which is something that is severely lacking with TTG because it has all the hall marks of a bad kids shows that people not only try to defend but attack those who criticize that show as "blind nostalgia haters" for no reason other than just because regardless if it makes sense.
This is the problem i have with Cosmonaut's video on TTG because of how he defends that show despite it's terrible quality because it's "kids show" and disregards any legit criticism people has with that show just for the sake of being a contrarian and nothing more. Not helping is that he then disparages both original Teen Titans and Young Justice because "nobody watched them" which is not only untrue and frankly bullshit but he disrespects two great kids shows in favor of a terrible one because it's popular now and it pisses me of so much how Marcus disrespects great shows just for the senseless sake of defending an awful one just to be a contrarian.

Okay to start off with teen Titans go is a smart satire on a lot of American culture with smart dialogue and constant comedic twists
Every character in TTG universe deserves to burn in you-know-where
no your completely accurate i'd honestly say its in my top 3 of dc's worst series and at times with how petty, bratty and immature it is to fans of the original without learning from mistakes(go should not be 200 episodes long its not good at all outside of dumb marketers thinking it is.) i even like batman & robin more than it at times.(the only good go related things were the crossover with the better original series and raven's appearance in the o.k ko episode "crossover nexus"since i actually like raven's as well as jinx's designs in go and thought she was the only tolerable element of go.)go is shit and really needs to be cancelled(again SHOULDN'T be 200 fucking episodes long.even dragonball z and detective conan had actual good reasons for being so long despite clearly stalling at times, jesus.) and just bring the original back with a better conclusion like terra getting her memory back, the titans finally meeting batman and the dcau heroes(and personally batman beyond/static shock as well since its revealed batman knows of the titans and teases shock meeting them which for some reason didnt happen.) and a better solid defeat of slade maybe in a 2 vs 1 battle of him, batman(since he is the dcau's more badass version of deathstroke.:3) and robin with the other titans/heroes helping out eventually.(or just fill the runtime you wasted on go with your older, actually good/way better show's cartoon network, make a crossover like "crossover nexus" again just longer and with more cartoon cartoons as main characters or at the very least bring back cn city so i can stomach go better.)
@@diannezurcher4529 What? Like how Beast boy and Cyborg fight over what food is better? Or how about how Robin starts dancing like an idiot talking about sour grapes? It's not a satire. The show is a slapstick comedy using the originals shows popularity and milking it dry. Like NC said they are ALL the same damn character all the time.
I will admit while I DO prefer to NOT watch Teen Titans Go! I do like how Nostalgia critic sees the ups AND downs of it which is a sign that it's actually doing *something* right.
For me though, I think the only thing *Teen Titans Go! related* thing I'll watch is Teen Titans Go! to the Movies. That movie (to me) is basically what the show is *intended* to be like, but with a better execution.
A good critic doesn't get shit on a property. A good critic shows the ups and the downs. And I 100% agree with you, he did a great analitical view on them.
While I don't like the show (don't hate either) it's nice that someone sees some of the good in it
There is no ups. Plain and simple. I can think of almost absolutely no redeeming qualities of Teen Titans Go.
Oh, then watch the video.

If you like Teen Titans Go, fine. If you don't like it, fine. I'm just annoyed when people say that the only reason that the fans of the original show don't like it is because it isn't what the original was. I can enjoy multiple versions of Batman whether it be Adam West or Kevin Conroy. I look at adaptations in their own right as if I'd never seen previous ones. Personally, I don't like Teen Titans Go because I see it as just a bad cartoon. I don't like the humor most of the time and think that the characters are awful.
I agree with Nostalgia Critic that the hate that people have for Teen Titans Go is what seems to fuel the show. Some people who complain about it though do it because they want entertainment to get better, just like Nostalgia Critic. (That and so that he can amuse us with his humor making fun of bad stuff.)
Thank you.
Thanks Hermione
I was going to write more, but your named summed up my response. Have a like.
Thank you!!! You are spot on!!!
I agree with you your views
At least we can all agree that this upcoming live-action Titans series is going to suck because of this horrendous "being dark and edgy for the sake of being dark and edgy" tone.
"I want something so bad no one will believe!"
Lion King 2019 comes out
Universe: "here you go!"
Raina Night you seriously underestimate Tom Green
What’s wrong with it? It’s the same thing but a different look
Honestly I like both shows. While my favorite is the original, Go has some funny moments and the movie was surprisingly very good. I do wish the original show would come back.
Honestly, the 2003 version is more enjoyable hands down.
However, that's not to say that _everything_ from TTG was downright awful, as there were a few episodes that I admittedly enjoyed;
Here's a hint: *The Night Begins To Shine*
I can agree

@@crazyluigi6664 You can check out Rebel Taxi's video "Why action cartoons are dead" he shows old online forums from the early 2000s that showed hatred for teen titans.
@@sontho6995 Oh! Okay. I honestly didn't know about that bit! Honestly, my interests online were in sports and video games back in the day.
@@crazyluigi6664 No problem, in fact those sites are still online, granted you can't comment but you can actually read them.
The best person to judge both of these shows was a person who didn't like either.
Ironic.
Truth!
Believe it or not this happens with a lot of comparisons. If someone is a fan of one side going in their biases and sense of nostalgia are going to affect their comparison. In many cases an outside perspective is likely to be more objective in its analysis.
This is what happen, when someone isn't all about "nostalgia".
Ironic isn't it?
That is like comparing to the two IT movies/miniseries when the guy comparing them doesn't lile either-- Oh wait...
12:05 the new TMNT designs are fuckign terrifying
As someone who grew up with the original Teen Titans, I will stand up for Teen Titans GO!. Especially in the last season, this show does have some amazing serious moments that I wish Critic had mentioned. The animation and the backgrounds are so beautiful you wouldn't recognize it as TTGO!. It also has AMAZING guest stars (including Scooby and BEETLEJUICE, two more childhood favorites!) and has moments that get dark as hell. Things DIE. It has THAT kind of humor! There are also at least 2 scenes where you see a fucking URN in the background that says "Robin II" on it. It has so many funny in jokes both in dialogue and the backgrounds that it rewards you for sticking out the stupider episodes that can be hard to sit through. Honestly if you hate it without watching it, I feel sorry for you, because you're missing out.
The best thing about TTG? It's so terrible it makes people really appreciate how amazing the first show was.
CZcamsr Radical Rick, The one thing they got right was how Robin was afraid of batman, when he was minding the bat cave.
I wish I could say I saw that episode of Go to verify what you say is true, but I can't handle seeing more than 1 or 2 minutes of it without feeling nauseous. I applaud your capacity to sustain it's obnoxiousness.
CZcamsr Radical Rick, Thank you.
Here’s the clip.

It’s 50 seconds long.
I think I can endure 50 seconds lol
CZcamsr Radical Rick, Good luck.
"It's a cartoon, so obviously it's for kids!" is why I hate TTG. Don't get me wrong, being a huge fan of the original, I already disliked GO!, but I just chalked it up as another dumb modern-age cartoon for kids. Then I heard about the clown episode. Then I saw the clown episode. And now I hate GO! with a fiery passion. Cartoons are not just for kids. With clever writing, good characters and a good story, a cartoon can be for everyone. As Critic said, Hey Arnold can be chalked up as a kids cartoon, but it still has the drama and story that adults can enjoy. Even Rugrats was able to bring about some tearjerking moments with some serious adult topics in a cartoon. Pokemon had great moments, Arthur, Courage, Samurai Jack, OG PPG, I even remember Animaniacs having serious moments about Dot. Cartoons do not have to be just for kids, and it's one thing that cartoons are seriously lacking these days: Good writing.
I also saw that clown episode. I'm pretty sure that when they were saying that "cartoons are just for kids", they were talking about kids cartoons. And yes, those cartoons that you mentioned are for kids. But, there are so many cartoons out there that are actually for adults to where they don't even need to wasted their time watching something meant for 5 year olds, especially if they hate it. I've seen this time and time again. Cartoon fans who preach that animation is for adults too when in actuality, they are only talking about cartoon shows not meant for adults. It's alright if you still look back on the shows that inspired you with a smile and it's even fine to watch whatever's on now...but those shows ARE for kids and shows like MLP, Steven Universe, Star vs. the Forces of Evil, whatever other show animation reviewers on the internet overhype to oblivion and especially TTG! are for kids. No amount of grown adults obsessing over them will ever change that. But like I said, there are cartoons for adults out there. Adult Swim is a thing and studios like NFB, Laika, Cartoon Saloon and Aardman make cartoons that can be enjoyed by anyone of any age. There's also people like Bill Plympton and Ralph Bakshi who make shorts and films exclusively for adults. Plus, there's Looney Tunes soooo...yeah.
Just because cartoons can be enjoyed by everyone, it doesn't mean every cartoon is made for everyone.
I mean, can you imagine Dora the Explorer having long running story archs, serious moments, etc? I can't either.
Boshwa Dora the explorer is an educational show for toddlers, teen titans go is just lazy and is encouraging more laziness and if this spreads then it’s just going to be every cartoon.
So you are saying adults don't like comedy
Frisbee
Don’t forget the Avatar series, one of Doug’s favorite cartoons (so much so he holds a special place in hell for Shyamalan’s 2010 live-action shitstain of a remake).
7:53 wow that’s just awesome, how many shows you now does that?
